Sad news

It was, of course, a very sad ending to a tragic story that, because of the historical connections between France and Morocco, has been quite a 'big' event in the French media over the past few days.

Nevertheless, and whilst I am fully aware of, and understand, the reasons, it is always strikes me how such a story in another country attracts more attention than, e.g. an instantaneous motor accident in one's own country, in which an entire family, including children, is killed.

Could be due to the fact not many people get stuck down wells anymore, whereas car accidents are far more common.
