Bristol Rob
Just had a quick look on YouTube for 70mph and 80mph winds. Looks a lot worse than the usual strong winds malarkey we get now and again.
And Its Smith
Why do the names of the storms never seem to get past the letter H?!
TRUEBRIT66
Flood Warning Ive just recieved from the EA: Storm Eunice is expected to bring severe gale force winds across the Bristol Channel early on Friday, coinciding with low spring tides. We are expecting this to cause very large and powerful waves along the coast. Forecast high water is 08:15 on 18/02/22 with a level of 7.43 mAOD and a Force 9 South Westerly wind. All times are local and refer to the high water time at Avonmouth, mAOD is height above average sea level for more detail refer to local tide tables. Flooding to roads and farmland is possible at these times, however conditions may apply two to four hours either side of the high tide. We expect flooding to affect the Severn Estuary at Oldbury-on-Severn, Northwick and Avonmouth including Aust and Old Passage. We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are closing flood gates and liaising with emergency services. Please be careful along beaches, promenades and coastal footpaths and roads and stay aware in case further warnings are issued. We will update this message as the situation changes and new information is available.

Try a conversion at the Atyeo End and if you catch a 90mph gust you'll punt it clear over the Suspension Bridge!
Port Said Red
1 hour ago, And Its Smith said: Why do the names of the storms never seem to get past the letter H?! It's partly to do with the direction the storm come from. For example Scotland had a storm called "Malik" last month, but that was because it had hit Norway first and they named it from their list, but the next storm that hit GB or Ireland first (Dudley) went back to our list. I was in Florida in 1996 when they had hurricane Opal and it was only September, that was a particularly bad year for them.

There will be some but a massively reduced timetable will be in operation with a blanket speed restriction of 50mph across the network. Trees and Trampolines will be in danger along with other structures and anything not tied down! …a day for staying in!

JackofromSanJavier
Looking like it will blow a hoolie tomorrow. Hopefully everyone stays safe and AG swerves damage. My mates lad is flying down from Newcastle tomorrow in readiness to meet his old man and join the northerners in the Wedlock on Saturday. Brown paper bag at the ready! As long as the wind stays westerly then they will go that way and not in the direction of my house in Filton.
