Furious Custard
Just had an email from Mansion bet stating they are closing for good end of this month !? I'm all for the halt on gambling being forced down our throat, but it does strike me as odd occurring before the end of the season. Have they not built up a enough f a user base to feed from ? Were they just a front for JL to funnel more money into the club ? Is it something else to do with Mark Ashton ? Any and all other conspiracy theories are welcome.
IAmNick
Statement on the OS here: https://www.bcfc.co.uk/news/statement-regarding-mansionbet/ Sounds like it's their betting which they're killing off, to focus on the online casino stuff instead. hinsleburg
Shame the statement says we have them on the front of the shirt until the end of the season, not anti gambling just don't like the logo... Guessing we can't do it because of contract reasons, but would love to see the club offer shirt sponsorship up between now and the end of the season to local companies. Would have been a nice touch and potentially achieved a lot of good for local businesses
Atticus
No a surprise. The amount of betting sites that pop up then disappear is insane. If you are a betting person, you really are better off going with the obvious here in the uk.
Loco Rojo
I wonder if this is a first for a Football team to have a shirt sponsor within the active season that no longer exists? Got to be a stato on here that would know? Edited March 7, 2022 by Loco Rojo

Dredd
While I’m absolutely not in favour of betting companies on the front of shirts, I will give MB some credit for being the most engaged sponsor I can remember. Loads of giveaways, shirts, balls, hospitality etc. Always engaged in how the team was doing on a match day on socials etc.
Steve Watts
West Ham as recently as 2015. clickety click Luton ended their shirt sponsorship for this season in January due to JB Development not fulfilling contractual obligations. Presumably this is finance related.

West Ham I think have had to do that 2 or 3 times with their choice of sponsors who have gone pop.

petehinton
Why would we continue to wear a shirt for a brand that no longer exists? Every game in April & May is promoting a site that’s gone bust….would’ve been a great opportunity to promote some local business/charities or something
Steve Watts
In fact, West Ham have double form for this.....clickety click part 2 in 2008, 7 years before their last one. With their current sponsors being Betway, they will be lost at the end of the season too due to the gambling rules...7 years after the last one. Whoever thinks about sponsoring the Hammers in 2029 need to be reaaaaaaaally wary!

Steve Watts
It's worth anyone with an account to place their entire bankroll on a longshot for next year. Any unsettled bets come the end of the season will see the stake refunded, but any that ultimately win will still see the winnings paid out by way of a manual payment. Could essentially be a nice free bet!

The parent company have chosen to close that part of the business, and are still trading. I guess we are the ones holding the other party to the terms of the contract. Sentiment aside, I don't think we can afford to turn down a guaranteed income stream however short the remaining term.

Red-Robbo
Be glad not to see that ugly logo after this season. Always reminded me of the sort of font used by old-school fish & chip restaurants on the front of their faux leatherbound menus.
The Journalist
Maybe they were funding Danny Simpson's vast wages ala 32Red and Wayne Rooney and it's all just got a bit much for both parties. The website will also still exist and will almost certainly point people towards their continuing casino operations. So if one person sees our shirt, heads to Mansion Bet and onwards to the casino, they'll be getting some bang from their buck.

Still remember junior school, late 70s, Superman and Nico-tine….we all had to sign a pledge to never smoke, in return for some stickers and a poster. Everyone in our class signed up apart from my mate who’s dad worked for Imperial Tobacco! 1
