Excl: #sufc striker Oli McBurnie has been requested to attend a meeting with Nottinghamshire Police
after accusations that he stamped on a #nffc fan during pitch invasion.
If McBurnie doesn’t attend voluntarily he will be arrested. He’s professed his innocence on social media.

There is defending yourself and defending yourself with excessive force

And there’s having a go when it’s coming on top.
If he felt threatened and was putting it about a bit then good on him. People should be able to stand up for themselves.

Ahhh all mixed up but yea the pay back wasn’t so good

He didn't receive any payback,  The one you're thinking of was a Villa hooligan slashing the face of another from the same group who was trying to stand up for a coach driver.  This was a month before the image went viral claiming to be the Birmingham fan, but it wasn't.  There was definitely a resemblance between the two though, so I understand why it went viral.

Seeing it again it does look like he’s trying to run past and accidentally got caught up

I find the editing very suspicious. Unless someone happened to start filming at that precise moment then it feels like the film starts and ends in a place that is meant to convey a very precise impression without showing enough for anyone to judge for themselves what happened.

Welcome to social media, the cesspit that takes as much as possible out of context for some sort of gain, whether that is personal or political. Shame every single video doesn't get questioned, but when it suits the agenda it seems to be the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

What is it with people goading someone while filming it hoping to get a reaction? I just watched Patrick Vieira’s reaction when he was surrounded at Everton
Fair play to Vieira, he’s gone right up in my estimation. He deserves a pat on the back.

An assault charge brought against Sheffield United footballer Rhian Brewster following a pitch invasion has been dropped.

The 22-year-old had been accused of assaulting a Nottingham Forest fan following the Championship play-off semi-final on 17 May.

A brief hearing at Nottingham Magistrates' Court on Thursday heard a charge of common assault had been discontinued.

The hearing took place in his absence.

Brewster's Sheffield United team-mate Oli McBurnie still faces the same charge and proceedings against him were adjourned by the same court until 4 August.

The court was told a review of the case against Mr McBurnie was also taking place.
