No further detail as to whether 5 subs have to made in a maximum of 3 sub slots, e.g. 212, 113, etc.

I was just reading that.

If I've read it properly, you will only now be allowed to sub players at predetermined times, with Half time being one of them.

Surely they would have to take into account injuries etc?

No, I just read it again….it’s 3 opportunities (at any time you wish) plus ht, so for example if you made 1 at ht, 1 at 52 mins, another at 64 mins and another at 71 mins, you’ve used up your 3 opportunities (plus ht) and wouldn’t be allowed to make another sub.

Correct.

Half time isn’t included because obviously no time is taken out of the game making a change then.

Not a fan of 5 subs either, though it does mean potentially more double substitutions, which if managed well should avoid blatant time wasting.

So you would go down to 10 men if someone got injured, even if you hadn't used up your allocation of subs.

This could get get somewhat complicating ??

Yes, it’s exactly the same sub rules as post-covid, apart from 7 subs, whereas post covid it was 9.

Its not that complicated!

At least we know from the outset, watching a game the other day when a Concussion sub was used threw me. I was watching with the sound off in my defence.

I would prefer 3 from 7 for subs, 5 is half a team and will benefit bigger squads.
On your point of going down to 10, with our injury record of recent years, we could have 2 injuries in the first 20 mins and leave us worrying about when to use the last break in play.

Yes, one of our last games of the season saw Alex Scott go off with a nosebleed, which was deemed as concussion , and both teams were able to use 4 subs. Wonder if a concussion sub can still be used after the allotted 5 ?

This could get likely rugby where they now talk about “starters” and “finishers” as part of their tactics. Again it has changed the game and possibly not for the better as tired players are replaced by fresh ones, whereas before the fittest team could benefit towards the end of a game. And it definitely benefits the (richer) clubs with bigger more expensive squads, rather than those who would fill the extra spaces with youngsters - or if your Cotts not even make a full bench to make a point!

Utterly stupid.

Killing the game as a spectacle.

Which again is possible. Too many stoppages already.

Oh goodie. "Impact players", "specialist kickers and retrievers", "offensive team/defensive team".... all giving me more time to buy more hotdogs and popcorn while the KissCam focuses in on a couple of belltards in the Dolman willing to have a snog and fiddle to get on the big screen.

Just about to post something similar.

What problem is this trying to fix exactly? Football not exciting enough for the EFL already? ?
