It just struck me that’s it’s 30 yrs ago when I went to the tournament with a few mates.

At the time being young single and fancy free I was going everywhere with city and a few England trips. Football was still relatively inexpensive then.(the beer wasn’t!)

It was the best “single holiday” of my life. The football was shocking but oh my goodness was a crack we had.

Anyone else on here go to the tournament and want to share their experience?

Still having my doubts whether Carlton Palmer was international class?

Yeah I was there the tents by the sea in Malmo were nice but who decided a quarry outside of Stockholm was a knob. The media were determined to find fighting somewhere. The only punch ups I saw were on Sky tv. Went to Goteborg for a night out with the Jocks which was fun. They were good sports and despite wanting us to lose as much as we did them we were made welcome. Helped by the fact we knew some local chicks mind you!

Yeh, we went.

No tickets, bought some off the touts for the Sweden end. They were OK with us sat next to them.
Camped in tents in a big park (always travelled 5 star back in those days!) in Stockholm for a few nights, well dodgy. Sweden had a firm called The Black Army or something (skinheads) and were looking for small groups of England fans to pick off before the Sweden game. The OB encircled the whole park to prevent a full scale toe to toe breaking out. Few hundred England but sounded like a lot more Swedish. They were protecting us!

Remember there being a lot of scousers there, plotting up/ on the thieving, big mobs who were robbing all the smart shops in Stockholm. Got some old photos of the trip somewhere and will dig them out one day. Think we got the choo, choo to Stockholm but my memory is fooked. I remember England lost and we left the ground early to wander in to a fall scale clash between England and the OB outside whilst the game was still going on.

Was at Italia 90 also and following England in those days was never boring. Just glad I survived it looking back. Always plenty of City away with England in those days. Several still post on here.

When we to Malmö and was sent to the tents by the beach a bloke with a city flag said we could store our bags until we found a hotel. If that was you cheers again.

tobe fair the local chicks in Malmö and Stockholm stepped up to the plate and help us home sick English boys out - 3 in 6 nights ?

Camped at Sibarp in Malmo.

Locals named it camp hell.

Sort of Carry on hooligan.

Within 48 hrs of Englands boys arriving at Sibarp was a no go zone for the police.

England fans were stealing vehicles.

Turning over the taxis.

Burned down the campsite offices.

Chased the fire brigade off the site.

Looted shops in the area.

All to a techno sound track.

Then came Stockholm and more carry on including the help yourself to free Stone Island shop.

When we got to Stockholm on the overnight sleeper on the Monday we ended up getting accommodation on the sea/river front in an old prison apparently.
We then went up to their equivalent of the downs with a massive beer tent- a bungy jump and these 2 stalls with these local hooligans firms standing about.I think it was the black army and the blue saints. As more English arrived it did kick off around midnight and I think after it was shut down but a local lady had taken pity on me so had escorted to her gaff.

Agreed Stockholm was sketchy to say the least after the England game, but Italia 90 was just as bad.
They were riding around on there scooters stabbing England fans up the backside and then driving off - cowards. Lots of England got stabbed. Having said that, they were great days as England fans just took the place over.
It is all a bit chilled out nowadays which is probably just as well.

A guy from Manchester ran 3 Campervan’s there .there were only 2 people who were insured to drive but that did not seem to matter . We got picked up at the services in which everyone got off and got plates and cutlery and what ever they could get there hands on for the trip . I swear the sun of the guy who sorted the trip made £10 last him the whole time we were away if you know what I mean. In my defence it was 30 years ago and things were different back then regarding following England away and things happened that I would not dream of doing now . Shit football ,bloody expensive and beer tents that were not there greatest idea. Brilliant times wit great stories  but not to be shared on a public forum …..

I stayed on that campsite ,the police closed off the whole site and filmed everyone there while reading out all your details from the passport you had to hold in front of you
