He clears it and we stand and watch.  That was the problem

Poor clearance. It was a free header under no challenge whatsoever, nobody near him. You don't head it central to the edge of your box. I do agree that someone was "missing" on the edge too but if he gets a proper header on it that is immaterial.

Anyone unhappy with that couldn’t have been at the game. In total control for large parts, beaten by horrific officiating (again) and a shot that took an unbelievable deflection. They were time wasting at 1-1 which says it all.

In total control for large parts of the game but couldn’t kill them off- sounds familiar.

You make your own luck

Sometimes football is cruel, a very dubious penalty and a deflection off TK means we return home empty-handed, despite a solid and professional performance.

Thought we played well overall, our shape looked good, credit to the new signings all looked an upgrade.

Hull FANS will know they were fortunate to win that, a draw would have been a fairer reflection IMO.

The winner was a poor header by Klose in my opinion. That was a FREE HEADER and to head it there was poor and then it was him that deflected it in..........nothing to do with sitting back, just a mistake from the Centre Half.

Ah but excessive sitting back/being forced excessively deep, lot of pressure- cumulative, physical, mental. Two can feed into the other IMO.

It is incredible that last season we had both the fewest penalties awarded & the most conceded.

That cannot be coincidental or simply bad luck.

The ref showed all the signs in the first half that he had at least one whopping error up his sleeves and so it proved...

We didn’t need to kill them off imo. They were creating absolutely nothing. I’m far happier as a fan of us, based on how we played, despite losing compared to how Hull were

A gutwrencher of a winner and a very soft penalty are hard to take. But I think there was actually bits to encourage us all there. Not many clear cut chances, but some breaks that a bit of Semenyo's pace could have used.

Sykes was excellent in the first 30 and I thought Naismith played well. A shame Williams and Scott were quiet, but they'll come good in other games.

Hard loss to take, but we can build on this.

Ref was a disgrace how he never booked anyone i dont know, they should have had 3 or 4 players booked maybe 2 of them sent off a shocking penalty the guy just fell over this is what you get from Turkish Refs

Thought he did book the LB early, then ignored all his fouls otherwise he has to send him off

It isn't just bad luck when you try to sit back on a 1-0 lead. Seems the mental weakness is still very much there.

I didn’t see us sit back on a 1-0 lead.  Yes, we had to defend at times, but we showed attacking intent throughout, and especially once Conway was on.  ‘Mental weakness’?  What’s that all about?  We lost to a penalty which shouldn’t have been given and a deflection to a shot that was going nowhere.  You do realise that there are two teams in a football match and the away team often has to defend for long periods?  Also we were having to deal with criminally bad refereeing and appalling behaviour from the Hull players.  And you put it down to our ‘mental weakness’???

Somebody at the game just said their goal came from a set piece they earned on the break after we had pressed them back following a period when THEY were wasting time. Are they wrong? Which one was it, excessive defending or caught on the break? If they are right you can't have it all your own way. A poor header is a poor header particularly from a player with so much experience and know how.

Cruel luck and poor refereeing decision. A game we should not have lost, but apart from Weimann’s goal we didn’t create much. Atkinson should have had a penalty. I haven’t seen a takedown like that since Swindon against Flint.

Should have been 3 points today but we let Hull back into the game after we had started and kept possession so well.

45 games to go, but we should come away with something against teams like Hull.

First game of the season, did we deserve to lose then of course not but the second half was awful,we will not get relegated for sure

That penalty decision is covering over the fact we were poor second half. First half was good.

Sykes and Naismith brought something different to our team. Enjoyed their performances.

Less said about the ref the better, it is what it is.

The Iranian player for them might have caused a couple injuries, hope Atkinson and Sykes recover fine.

Nice to see us play out a bit higher up the pitch with Naismith, only found us a bit toothless when the first attempt doesn't work out to get through and we won the ball again it didn't look like we were going to be dangerous on the second ball in.

Felt we played alright overall, just gave Seri a bit too much space to link things together.

Unlucky City, on to next week. COYR.

It was a Hull break.  A Hull player took out Atkinson just outside their penalty area and then rolled around for four minutes, presumably to avoid a card.  The ref of course bought it.

I wouldn't say mental weakness but yet another injury time goal conceded thanks to a failure to close down is a continuation of last season's pattern.

Let's hope that is the last one but when it happens repeatedly it seems less and less like chance. God knows how you put a stop to it though.
