Police v Sunderland

Anyone notice that they were a mixture of Heddlu and the Met?

If you were in any doubt about how stretched Avon & Somerset Police are then you shouldn't be anymore.  Literally at crisis point, but nothing in the Evening Post obviously.  Beat teams get tanked for the summer to cover the Response teams who can barely cope let alone Police a football match...

This has been standard at our games for many years, nothing to see here

And they won’t be doing it for free. Undoubtedly more expensive than local police, which means the club, in due course, will be picking up the bill, unless we already have a fixed service user agreement with ASC, which would mean local taxpayers picking up the bill.

I've never paid attention to the Police at matches but I'm pretty sure they get paid overtime for doing football fixtures. I remember a village copper saying he used to do Saturday fixtures around the south of England. Is this unusual?

Just looked up the A&S officer numbers and you could fit them all in the Atyeo, with room to spare.

Was told a little bit in knights Templer

For the numbers at the ground and being the first home game etc I expected more problems during the afternoon

Personally wasn't aware of anything, no aggro between supporters, both groups mingling and chatting together at various places

The only thing I saw was the over exuberant celebrations for their equaliser when the advertising boards were knocked over, one chap got escorted out

The Police on duty outside the 3 Lions were pretty good. All smiles and joking with the punters.

Let’s hope that continues next season.

It was the most cordial mingling of supporters I can remember for quite some time. Both fans showed respect and both both gave it back. Int it a positive and pleasant place to be when footballs like that.
