Leeds In Administration

What a calculated decision by the Leeds board to go into administration today and get deducted 10 points thereby getting themselves relegated (as if they weren't already down). What sort of punishment is that? surely it would have been better to deduct the points from the new season, this smacks of favouring the "big club" again, what sort of message is this sending out to fans of smaller clubs?

Maybe...

but didnt Rotherham go into administration last season, and if they had the points deducted then, they would have been relegated. However the deduction was carried over to this season.

They arnt a big club, however the rules were bent to help them

They exploited a loophole, the people who we should be moaning at is the ones who left such a loophole - The FA.

What Leeds have done is basically the same as City did in 1982 - so we shouldn't be too hasty to forget that.

No problem at all with what Leeds have done. They're following the rules.

Just been reading up on this, it seems that Rotherham had a chance of survival last season, so delayed until after the final game and took the hit this season. If you look at Boston, they are looking at going into Administration during the game at Wrexham if it is going badly, so that they get deducted 10 points this season. Simple really... and utterly ludicrous.

Check out the BBC, and Leeds seems a bigger fiddle than Boston, but the League seem to be much harder on Boston - I know they have a bit of history of being a bit dodgy financially, but they are a Club with a permanent struggle, not just a team that badly over-spent, and are cynically trying to exploit the rules and just leave a trail of debt.

It's not just the fact that Leeds have done this but Bates bought back the club within minutes of entering administration, surely the Administrator(s) have a duty to the creditors to listen to all offers for the club? and according to Sky Sports there are interested parties, the Supporters Trust for instance.

Their main creditor is Bates, so he can pretty much do as he likes now. Of course it's not right, but if the loophole is there, then they're well within their rights to exploit it.

Boston ought to be allowed to deduct in the present season as well since that was legitimate.

The 10 points deduction was a good idea but the FA need to refine it now. Put a guillotine on it, say if you don't go into administration before the end of February then the deduction counts for the next season.

Well then it could go the other way. Say if forest had taken some crippling loans, bought players and finished one point ahead of us, then gone into administration as a result, they would still be promoted.
