Admin Maesknoll Red Posted May 11, 2004 Admin Report Share Posted May 11, 2004 Saturday Referee: Paul Taylor - Herts Asst: Tony McGee - Merseyside Asst: Bob Pollock - Merseyside Paul Taylor takes charge of City for the ninth time this Saturday, previously overseeing five wins, two draws and a loss. He has played a part in a memorable defeat, City going down 1-6 to Wolves in November 97 and a very memorable win, the fantastic come back at Mansfield, in April 03, City winning 5-2. So far this season, Paul Taylor has refereed 33 games, issuing 123 yellow cards and 14 reds. He officiated at the Gate in March this year v Rushden, booking Lita, with Lita also scoring the only goal in the 29th minute. He currently lies 10th in the Rate the Ref National group league table and has awarded 6 penalties so far this season. Paul Taylor spent one season in the Premier league (00/01). ******************************************************************** Wednesday Referee - Graham Poll - Herts Asst: Robert Lewis - Shropshire Asst: Trevor Massey - Cheshire Graham Poll should need no introduction, its going to be (hopefully!!) a rare treat to see a world ranked Ref at the Gate. His CV includes European Championship games, a European Cup semi-final, World Cup qualifiers and an appearance at the World cup in Japan, UEFA Cup and he has had the honour of officiating at the FA Cup final (99/00 - Villa v Chelsea). He has had the pleasure of being the man in the middle twice before at City games, one home and one away, a draw and a loss respectively. The home game was the close call against Kingstonian in the FA cup, when Thorpe saved our blushes in injury time and salvaged a 1-1 draw. The loss was against Leeds Utd at Elland Rd in the 1st leg of the League Cup R2, 17/9/97, 8,806 fans saw Leeds defeat us 3-1 with Goater getting our goal. The loss was no disgrace when you look at the Leeds line up:- Martyn ,Kelly ,Robertson ,Radebe ,Wetherall ,Wallace ,Hasselbaink (Ribeiro ,84 ) ,Hopkin ,Halle ,Kewell ,Molenaar Subs not used: Haaland, Beeney, Goals: Wetherall 20, Hasselbaink 70(pen), Goater 77, Ribeiro 90.
