  1. Re: Psychology. I believe we have one on the books, as do most clubs, not sure he/she is much kop to be honest, seeing as how heads fall at the first sign of adversity. Agree a good manager is 1,000,000% better than some bod with a degree in it though. It's where people like Cloughie and Ferguson excelled. Ultimately, with Pearson, you do have to wonder if: A) His prior successes were largely down to coaches, coaches he doesn't have here &; B) Is ill-health undermining how he performs here. Is he up to it? Mentally as well as physically? Really surprised I'd ever need to ask those questions, but really surprised at how poor and unmotivated we've seemed since NP arrived. We thought we'd ejected all the unmotivated lot, but tho - the remainder are now looking equally out of sorts.
  2. To be honest, Semenyo has never convinced. Maybe he's a midfielder masquerading as a striker, but I doubt he'd help. Baker or Atkinson gives us the option to drop Vyner, and as I wrote, James & Williams are the really crucial returnees providing a semblance of a spine in this team. The problems go deeper than player selection though IMO, as I said in my reply to you and @lenred
  3. I think Nige needs help with coaching and may actually also need to bring in a top notch sports psychologist as we seem beaten when we walk out the tunnel. Given the number of injuries, we still need to look at various issues around that. David Rennie has cut out the hamstring issues, but we don't seem very fit IMO. Sometimes we look almost like amateurs playing professionals.
  4. Coventry weren't vastly older and more experienced than the team we put out, Gray. They had a teenager and three 23-year-olds in their starting line-up. In fact, apart from a few old heads like McFadzean and Godden most of their squad are in their early 20s. We can't keep playing variations on the same 14 failing players though. Something's got to change. If we get Joe Williams and Matty James back after the break, we MAY see an improvement. Ultimately, our ability to play 90+ minutes of football seems to have deserted us. Players look tired in the second half. We sit deep and baulk at anything physical in the last 20 minutes because we seem exhausted. Whether that's mental or physical I don't know, but something is rotten in the state of Denmark. Even the experienced players are starting to play as if they are overawed rookies.
  5. Pissed off, please, not pissed. We're in the West Country, not West Virginia. Seriously though, these sort of late losses must utterly crush the self-belief of these players. They think it's coming as much as we do. I don't think the current management team can shake off that mindset from our squad and the lack of confidence feeds losses which feeds further lack of confidence. It's a classic vicious circle. If Pearson is to stay, he needs help from someone new. Urgently.
  6. He couldn't do any worse and has a reasonable shout at doing better. I never, EVER, thought I'd be an advocate of the man, but he has pulled more than one club out of a tailspin in the past.
  7. I've always said I'd not attend AG if that cheat-encouraging, parrot-faced get was in charge here, but you know what, f- it. Right now, we've had so many disappointments. Such a prolonged period of misery, I'm going to reverse my stance. Get him in. This is exactly the sort of firefighting task he excels at. Motivating players who feel like losers is what he does. He's not a long-term man, but get him to keep us up and we can start immediately thinking about the right long-term choice for when Colin retires.
  8. This is it. I don't expect this team to shake up the division. Work in progress and all that. But we can't seem to compete beyond the hour mark. Fitness? Nerves? Whatever it is new coaches and/or sports psychologists are going to be the only way to stop us continually embarrassing ourselves.
  9. I'm going back to the days where I never bothered to follow away games, just looked at the final score when I had the time in what was a busy social day for me. Following this crap ruins my weekend and wastes my time.
  10. I thought we couldn't REALLY throw away the game at the death again. But I forgot. We have less composure than an unset jelly.
  11. Their #20, who should've done better tbh, played him on.
  12. If working in the zone - or living in it - you are exempt. When the details are announced, see if you qualify for a grant towards a new vehicle if the restrictions cause your business difficulty. Although, as has been said, £42m in total compo won't stretch to everybody, the terms are tilted towards helping smaller businesses.
  13. He touched his waist as they were running, but didn't pull a shirt or impede and the guy has no reason to go down. Football is becoming a non-contact sport.
  14. Ironically, it looked a less clear-cut pen than the earlier call when the keeper floored him. Not complaining mind. ?
  15. I was working in Portland Place, so Euston Rd, as dreadful as it was, was but 2 minutes drive away, past no CC cameras. I was stuck using it.
  16. I know, but making it the one CC exempt route through central London turned it into something else. Obviously, I usually took the tube in, but Fridays I needed to leave for Somerset after work, so I used to go in early and leave at 3 and crawl all the way to the Westway.
  17. The area is the area that fails the air quality standard, there is little choice in the matter. Like you, I've crawled up the Portway in rush hour and it's not difficult to see how its incredible heavy use contributes to this poor air quality. HOWEVER, I agree with everyone who says charging zones simply push cars onto nearby roads, spreading and sometimes exacerbating problems. When I needed to drive from work in London, the congestion charge pushed me and countless others onto Euston Road, making it a 1mph endless crawl, spewing out fumes that must've blanketed the entire area. Only weaning more of us of the need to drive to work by better public transport provision and (in the long-run) better town planning will solve the serious air issues in cities.
  18. There are various reasons why diesels in particular are being encouraged to be phased out, but whether you agree with the emissions guidelines, they are set by the government - not Marvin Rees or BCC. The zone is forced on the city because the area within it fails European air quality levels. They may not help you, but there is £42m worth of loans and grants available to those who say they have to switch vehicles because of this.
  19. The vast majority of cars pass the requirement. I just used the checker on Gov.UK to see if Mrs R's 13-year-old car (1.8l engine) passed and it does. I think unless you want to drive through the city centre in an old Bedford van you needn't worry. Even then, if you have work in the zone (or are earning under £26K a year) you don't pay.
  20. What has Chris Martin got to do to be dropped? Shag Pearson's missus?? That's a balsa-wood looking mf as well. This isn't looking pretty. Just hope the large travelling contingent can lift the lads.
  21. I agree, but that's a different topic. Having read some of the comments I clicked on the map expecting to see a vast swathe of Bristol encompassed by this CAZ, but the reality is it's just the comparatively small number of streets in the city centre. it doesn't extend south of the river, nor east of Temple Meads nor even into Clifton or Kingsdown. The vast expansion of double-yellow lines and dropped curbs has made it far more difficult for me to come to football than this will. In fact, because of parking issues, I choose to take the bus up more often than not these days. Get more of a drink in that way. If you drive through the city centre you'll be charged - from next season - if your petrol car doesn't meet Euro standard 4 (which TBH the vast majority will) or your diesel doesn't meet Euro standard 6 (which is a bit more stringent, some older diesels may not). If you have your last MOT emissions test document, you can check if your vehicle meets these levels here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_emission_standards
  22. As has been pointed out, bringing these in to large cities is compulsory and has been ordered by central government. London has had a low emission zone through most of the inner M25 area for more than a decade. Charging depends on the emissions made by your vehicle. It simply isn't true to say it is a tax on old cars. Nor does it only apply to diesel vehicles.
  23. Well, someone did suggest we'd be parking the bus...
  24. To be honest more were laughing, rather than booing. It's not like everyone reads everything about every player on other teams, so I, too, thought his hair was a rather bizarre footballer affectation. There are lots of other players with questionable and occasionally ludicrous hairstyles. I'm glad it was posted on this thread to explain and, yes, the man does deserve plaudits for raising so much cash for a very good cause.
