  1. I can't believe the moaning and complaining on this forum after a dogged strong performance away to a team who were totally on form and scoring goals in abundance. Our boys applied themselves physically and mentally and brought their poor spell to an end. Every team goes through a bad time at some point in the season (look at Cardiff and the two Sheffield sides recently). Cardiff have sorted themselves out of late and hopefully City did tonight. Expect the jitters from Wolves soon. Villa and Derby had their rough times earlier in the season. It's still all to play for.

  2. This is Bristol City. This is what happens to us from time to time. Maybe the younger supporters and maybe some of the players are not used to it but supporters like me who've been around for 65 years are quite familiar with the phenomenon.

Our team plays with passion and LJ says it's the spirit and passion that got us through some of the sticky moments we've had this year. However, when things begin to go wrong, the players tend to increase the passion level. Not always a good idea, especially when you are physically and mentally exhausted. We all need a break, especially the players. The team needs refreshing, maybe with new people coming in to help and old comrades returning to the fray with renewed spirit and passion. The transfer/loan window comes at a useful time as do three cup games where we are the underdogs and little is expected from us.

This is not a doctrine of despair but rather one of renewal.

Yes it's disappointing but massive overreaction on here . We've just been edged out by a team with champions league players! Think how far we've come in a few months!

Quite right. We've come a hell of a long way this season. We dropped one point in injury time. This is what we've been dishing out all season, in particular, to Man Utd. If you dish it out you have to learn to take it too.

  4. Changing the theme;

Read  yesterday in a national newspaper that Bristol Rovers FC are being investigated for paying some of their employees under the minimum wage rate. Not sure if players are included.

Two other clubs were being looked at for the same reason. The one that stood out was Wolves and I think the other was Wycombe Wanderers.

  5. 60% possession and playing with a one man advantage for the final 10 minutes and we lose 2-1.

In the first half a more controlled approach would have given us at least a 2 goal lead. 16 shots on goal only 3 on target!

We went at it like a bull at a gate. A first minute goal encouraged this approach and much good lead up play led to no reward.

Birmingham showed how to win a result even when you are up against it. Harry calmed them down at HT and patiently they wore us down like a good boxer that gets up off the canvas and wins on points.

We should learn a hard lesson and remember we are not playing Manor Farm or even Plymouth or Barnsley every week.

  6. What upsets me most about tonight's performance was that all the things which carried us through difficult games so far this season was the spirit and the self-belief when things went wrong. The last couple of games against Rotherham and Villa being prime examples. This time, things were going right, we seemed to get cocky so they then went wrong and as LJ said we just crumbled. It's the team that counts. Yes, individual players have made mistakes all through this season but until today the rest of the team rallied round and got a result. Tonight it was role reversal. The team that did that tonight were Sheffield Wed. We need to learn from it and then get over it.

I don't see that to be honest, just some honest critique, which is what a forum is all about.

Honest criticism is good and can often be constructive. It's the moaning when things go against us. The attitude of "It's not fair" and the ref is bent, etc. etc. Too many people play the blame game too often. It's a good thing that the team don't have the same attitude and carry on battling.

  8. This is a team that plays with guts and enthusiasm and believes it can win.

Mistakes are made particularly in newly formed defence formations and when under pressure a centre back sticks a leg out without any idea where the ball is going.

Sometimes a ball hits a post and goes in. Sometimes it hits a post and stays out.

You can dominate a game and still lose. You can play rubbish and still win.

A point away from home is always good to collect.

To all those who are complaining, I say get over it and show, as a supporter, the same amount of bottle that your team does.

  9. Another from their forum, nice to get some praise from other fans:

"Bristol did a very professional job on us. Scored early and defended their lead heroically whilst still looking like they could add to it. They're a better side than many other champo teams despite just having been promoted. The goal they scored was beautiful (think our first against Millwall at home last season, very similar but not quite as flashy). In the second half they were excellent, sitting very deep, pressurising whoever was on the ball into going backwards, clearing the ball way down into our half and forcing us to start again and looking decent on the counter. They'll be more than alright this season."

From this, it seems like we finally have started to play in a more organised fashion. At the same time, we had a fair rub of the green as well. They say you make your own good luck and that's done by organisation and determination. A fantastic result that bodes well for the future.
