For the second week in a row, we recreated one of the most famous full-time scores in our history. And we come away disappointed.
it was a mad, fun night. Bit of passion on and off. Ticket chaos. I, like many others, missed the first 20 minutes. They didn’t have my ticket. But somehow rustled one up after a long wait. There were hundreds, possibly thousands - home and away - still outside the ground at ko.
We played well. Williams and a few others were outstanding (eg Vyner and Dickie, Bell. Even Mehmeti got involved and lasted the course). I don’t know how we didn’t score in that second period of extra time. (Well, I do. It’s us…obvs.)We didn’t pass to Knight-Lebel at wing-back. He was just a body, trying to bottle up the right.
I knew we’d lose the shoot-out. PL shooters and they took first pen (statistical bonus, as you know). I said to the bloke next to me when Bell was poised: ‘he’s going to miss this’. You could see it. But some poor bloke has got to miss. If Nakhi had converted his cross (delightful move by the way), we wouldn’t have needed the tears.
Interesting night. Sad outcome. But better than listening on the radio.Tbf I think they're all gonna miss!
But Bell didn't miss. It was saved.
It was one of those, granted, at the 'wrong' height, but the keeper goes the other way and no one bats an eye and calls it a good pen.

I actually like the camera position! Been watching the TV coverage of last night’s game this afternoon and it’s much better for assessing the positional set up - which is the same for rugby!
Although, I dislike like the frequent changes to pitch side etc. fine for any replays. As an example the change to pitch side missed the timing of Tommy’s run for the goal, which again happens in rugby coverage!
Same. It's personal preference.
I think the higher the better which gives the clearest picture of patterns of play and positional sense. There's nothing worse than low down where it's all squished and compressed and difficult to disentangle.
The new Wembley had a similar high position when first opened which was great but sadly they brought it down to between tiers after a while.
Only slight complaint with current setup is that the operator is a bit laggy sometimes and could do with using a slight zoom now and then.

Bizarrely JL got rid of Pearson because of him not performing well in his role.
However Downsy has never performed well here in his role yet continues to be employed by us. Very strange.
I suppose arguable that Pearson's role has a direct impact on the progress of the club. Downseys does not. Well not much really unless he's affecting attendances by keeping people away!
Having said that, nothing personal against him but I'm tired of this guy. The announcer is the voice of the club, sets the tone and to a degree the ambience within the stadium.
For me, he has continually set the wrong tone befitting this (or any) football club with his 'Disney' vibes, lack of football knowledge and makes us a laughing stock with his inability to grasp his content in a professional manner.
Given his gaffe-laden history he appears unsackable, so the wait for a more erudite football type may be a while yet... until the day comes when he decides to hang up his mic. Which may be....never.

This really is hilarious on here.
Frustrating, yes, but seriously... Not the end of the world.
We are in the play offs, we've had an unbelievable cup run. We all want promotion, but one step at a time.
The club are moving forward, Johnson is still very young and I'm sure will admit himself still has areas where he needs to improve.
A lot of the management aspects will only come through experience.
Chill the **** out

Cmon boys good opportunity to recover that GD here

I think we can't completely blame a cup run but the fact that ours has contained some huge games in which our players have ran around like men possessed due to our style, has impacted greatly.
The wolves game was a massive mental blow having had them where we wanted them and on the brink of closing the gap right up, only to see them disappear from sight.
It was easier to pick ourselves up for man city for obvious reasons (adrenalin for one) but the league is another animal and teams are raising their own games against us now, knowing what we're capable of.
I've never felt so torn about the cup before. It is hurting us but the price is so alluring!

God I hate Derby and Cardiff and Villa now, if we dont go up automatically we are going to be facing some of them, I dont think i can go through another play off, i'm still not over Hull.
Even when we concede a goal i feel physically sick, when lose a game i can't face the world for at least 24 hrs, supporting City i find quite emotional.
Not sure footballs for you!
Try a less stressful pastime. It's only football after all

And I thought bbc radio Bristol commentary was bad... Try bbc WM. Terrible.
We are shattered. Still a slim chance though. Get a goal back and villa will be very nervous. They're not a happy bunch up here by the sound of it.
-
No tempo. No working them stretching them. Better pull their finger out second half
-
I think it's fair to say the players want him out too
-
Worse than I thought. That looks a bit dodgy I must admit!

I am going with 4-0 city.
-
Huge point. C'mon hang in there boys
-
-
Very decent point really. Still, Taylor tucks it away and 4-1 I think game over.

Oh crap. Writing on the wall now!

It's that 0 goal diff?

Must not concede late in the half. Must not concede late in the half.

It's clearly a mentality thing rather than technical. Same in the cup - mixing it up with the bigger boys no problem.
Seems to me we have too many characters that enjoy the limelight but can't do it on a rainy tues night in stoke.
Whether that's something that Manning can remedy, without a change of personnel I don't know.
