Yearning for a man who trebled our wage bill.
A man who couldn’t wait to pick apart the tightest most talented squad we’ve had in a long time
A man who was complicit in assembling this bloated squad we currently have.
Ive truly seen it all now.
No-one is yearning for Mark Ashton.

That's pretty much where I'm at, evidence in front of me. At least Benny's teams were good to watch after the thrashings stopped.
Depressing stuff.
Yeah, Benny needed more time to turn round the disaster of the club it was back then, he had the right ideas and then we opted for Pulis...

Grounds were empty and most people were preoccupied with the pandemic when LJ was fired. There wasn't even a 'Johnson Out' bedsheet to be seen. What did for Lee was 1. Going backwards (down the table, not improving) 2. The dismal spectacle and dire quality of football, especially at home, and 3. The players were no longer responding to Lee, as close inspection of the drinks breaks brought in last summer when the season restarted revealed (Lee spent them berating the 4th official while his opposite number was amongst his players giving them instruction).
Sacked when we were 12th, I'd give anything to be in a position to sack a manager for being 12th right now.

Oh look it’s all of the ECB’s chickens coming home to roost.
This is exactly what those ******* idiots deserve for their managed of decline of first class cricket in this country. Part of me would love to see us absolutely annihilated by India and Australia over the next six months as it’s exactly what those clowns deserve.
Yes but they still won't act upon the decline. Money talks and I just don't see any way forward for FC cricket right now. Could be garbage for a decade.

Miles behind the likes of India & NZ, just atrocious.
But they'd rather invent dumb games like The Hundred

It's how it was when this competition was announced. There was even talk of the team being renamed (Western Fire I think) to avoid alienating the Glos and Somerset fans.
They could've stuck with that given Western Storm is a consortium of western counties and the Welsh cricket board

Enjoyed last nights game and enjoying tonight’s game. Don’t think you need a team to support, same as when watching Prem football.
Ultimately if kids are enjoying it then it’s successful in my eyes. My kids cricket team are all talking about it on their WhatsApp group
Don’t think it really works like that in franchise cricket.
Surprised Bristol didn't get a franchise tbh.

Would've been better if all 10 players (exception of the wicketkeeper) had to bowl 10 balls, just to make it a little more interesting.

Isn't it so they can sell it to the Americans? So much easier working in groups of 5 rather than 6.
Now it's going metric we could sell it to the EU!
Broader younger demographic, I believe.

Look, when we went to Lords all those times (and won) the amount of City shirts on view far, far outweighed the slags, but then, that's what you'd expect. A microcosm of Bristol in general !
Remember being a kid at Lords and celebrating with Gasheads in 99 when we beat Somerset.
Bittersweet.

Game and tourney over for Glos, I can't see it happening now.. 12+ an over to get
-
Gonna have to go some to qualify.
Terrible last 6 overs but jesum crow!! 90 off 36 for Tom Lammonby
-
100 in 6 overs ffs...

Ok, maybe 180 at this rate
Great 50 from Tom Lammonby
-
Should be chasing 150 unless Payne and Worrall can do so more damage...
-
That'll do

It will. The young `uns are getting going now which looks better. My money`s still on a Glos win though.
Phew! looks like Goldsworthy had set himself ready for a decent score.
I'd say that our bowling attack is pretty underrated.

We look so out of sorts though.
Good bowling and fielding from Glos will do that.

Why have we created a slow wicket against Glos. Playing to our opponents strengths
Which is nice (only if we can make it count mind)

Hamilton learning from Michael Schumachers on how to take out your rivals

Hopefully Howell will be selected for Englands T20 squad before long.. has to be one of the best all rounders in the game
