  1. Hate to depress you  further but realistically Manning will be here at least until Christmas. No way will the club lose face but if things are looking shite by Christmas/New Year then he'll be gone.

Did you aspire to the `Hutch` leather jacket or the `Starsky` chunky knit cardy?

I always wanted to do that roll across the car bonnet thing but never did - I doubt I`d be able to get up there now without breaking my neck!

RIP David, another memory of much simpler times slips away.

Sorry to chip in so late but back in 70's during the Starsky and Hutch era my Nan made my Mum & Dad and myself the Starsky chunky knit cardy thing with identical pattern to Starsky's. We used to sit watching Starsky and Hutch with our cardies on. I was a huge fan but above all Antonio Fargas (Huggy Bear) was my favourite. About 15-20 years back he was in panto  at Weston super Mare. I saw him outside the playhouse and as a grown adult I was so made up to see him but so awestuck I couldn't go and say hi.

  3. I do find “florist” pathetic but don’t really overly care for these terms. What really irks me is the personal attacks on posters who just so happen to have a different opinion from the person who feels it necessary to demean the posters contribution. It’s got particularly bad on otib over the last couple of years. The days of banter and lively debate have unfortunately given way to those who regard themselves as self-appointed moderators who behind the anonymity of their keyboard regard themselves as having the guts to post something that they wouldn’t say to a stranger over a pre-match pint.
that really boils my piss ?

He's had health issues, the club's a mess, no money, possible points deduction, we'll have to sell our young talents...plus fans are unhappy...will he just say "stuff this" and jack it?

He won’t walk when there’s chance of being paid to leave. I have some sympathy for the constraints he’s operating in but I can’t get away from the fact I think he’s been poor to average for an experienced manager.

  5. If there’s any leadership and true ambition at the club then he should be gone in the summer and a replacement already lined up. However I expect him to limp on for a while into next season. I’m amazed how the fans have by and large stuck with him. I believe this is more to do with the language he speaks post match and little to do with results which by and large have been midling to poor.

Just found this on the net so thought I’d post

70’s. I used to sit on my Dad’s shoulders on the terrace at the far end. He got a better job so we then ended up sitting in the Williams. I really thought we were the bollocks when we had proper seats to sit in.

  7. Crikey just goes to show how different opinions are. NP may work out but he’d only be a 2 or 3 for me. Football is a results game and I would without question have expected better. I genuinely don’t understand the support he gets from the fans but we’ve all got different opinions and I presume fellow fans are seeing something I’m not.

City must have a footballing leader at the helm. .

A normal business would take stock of the situation and if, say, their FD was going to be absent over a testing period [for year end, company acquisition read relegation battle in football terms] an interim would be hired to address the issue. I know this as I have helped companies do this in my day

There will be no clarity on this until we know just how long Nigel is going to be absent for and then there will be those that say even while he's been here results suggest he's not improved t….

Absolutely! Was about to post the same thing. Regardless of football  I hope NP makes a speedy recovery but having an open-ended leave of absence is not an ideal situation. The club cannot and should not sack NP due to illness but like any other business are well within their rights to employ an interim leader. They can’t let the current situation continue without a strategy. Unfortunately I’m mindful that I’m talking Bristol City and thinking there might be a strategy is complete folly.

I don’t want to knock the kid, but how much off the standard was he?

Could see a case for taking him back off, so weak and letting his man go repeatedly.

It was like playing with 10 men, not sure he made a single positive contribution.

So you'll post a dedicated thread picking out his weakness. As has previously been said the kid should be cut some slack. Just staggered that there seems to be an obsession with having something to moan about.

There were plenty of joyful forest fans taking the piss on Ashton road after the game one of them decided to front up and say "come on then" when he was told where to go (so was obviously like minded?) and got chased around a bit. From what I've seen this season it's pretty normal now for away teams to take the piss on Ashton road. Bournemouth fans were doing it Saturday, Blackpool at the beginning of the season threw a few cans at themselves by accident while trying to target city fans, Preston were gobby apparently (didn't see that one), even Fulham gobbed off a bit but quickly walked away.

I find it interesting because none of that wouldn't have happened pre COVID, not sure what's happened.

Think we must have become very WOKE. Back in the day fists would have been raised and satisfaction demanded. These days it's important to be sensitive to other fans feelings and allow oneself to be punched in the mouth.

Great anecdote but what surprised me was Dicks saying “10 or 12 years ago, I offered my services to the club again but was politely declined”. Reading between the lines, does anyone else think that he threw his hat in to succeed either GJ or Coppell?

The story was reported in the EP at the time so I guess it must be true.

  12. Another thread about SC where SOD name is mentioned more times than the original target. The presumption that any negative comment about SC must mean the poster is a SOD fan is mad. The difference between SC and SOD is that most of us knew SC was a crap manager before he arrived.

  13. Just read the match thread.

Notable for you making embarrassing critical comments throughout in your self appointed position as on the spot match reporter. And by the look of the responses how easily the rabble are roused....

Yes, City were poor in the first half, but the right substitutions were made at half time and the team fought themselves back into the game from a very difficult h/t situation.

Now you can't even eat humble pie and give a bit of credit for a great comeback by City under extremely difficult swirling conditions.

Well done Marv. and Wes, and well done SC for having the balls to make the early subs., the sort of positive change we wouldn't have seen under SO'D.

And in the end the Carlisle fans won't 'feel robbed' at all, City's 2nd half performance deserved the points.

Yeah I just read the match thread and I humbly apologise because it was clearly only me who thought the performance was awful. It's a forum and people post opinions. Get over it!
