The SkyBet BCFC Manager market has been taken down completely now if that means anything

Ha, glad I could contribute to the utter lunacy that this thread is creating!

But nothing has been put out by the club, so is setting the smokescreen up?
I don't in the slightest think it is a smokescreen, however the club wouldn't put something out to create one. They'd leak something to the media and create noise that way

The only appointment that could probably be considered as amazing would be Hasenhuttl in my opinion.

I believe the Manning rumour is a smokescreen. He and his family are settled and he's building a good side at Oxford
Funny you say that, this actually popped up on my Twitter not long ago. Anyone know if this bloke is on here at all? Imagine it's all BS but thought it's worth posting.

Oxford's Assistant also featured on 'The Dub' which is a podcast by BBC Radio Oxford today. Worth a listen as he is asked about this ongoing saga.

Is it not a tad odd that Manning has done an interview, seemingly today ahead of their match in midweek?

Experience comes from playing and managing, he's not got either of any note
Declan Rice... So you said he helped develope him??
I'd have thought the West Ham coaches may disagree, we know how much an U23s manager gets involved
I get that, but out of interest would you have been up for us appointing Will Still? His playing career is inferior to Manning's and arguably so is his managerial career before he joined Reims.
Correct, I said he helped to develop him. I know as much as you when it comes to that being the truth, however I'm not sure multiple articles would've been written about something that is nonsense... https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-12521497/WONDERS-PYRAMID-Liam-Manning-coach-credited-nurturing-Declan-Rice-West-Ham-flying-Oxford-PLUS-three-games-watch-weekend.html

His whole career is below average at best
That's the funniest shout crediting him for Declan Rice
You aren't including his playing career, are you?!
When did I credit him for Declan Rice? You asked what players he'd helped to develop and I gave you one...- 1

Didn't want Nige to leave, but actually pretty happy with this appt.
Only 38, fresh ideas, seems to have a v good track record with developing youth. I've been quite a big critic of Jon, but at least he's stuck to his initial statement of getting in a progressive coach that likes to play front footed football, even if it may not be the most 'impressive' appointment out there, which he seemingly also did say.
Understandably some are concerned about him getting sacked by MK Dons, but let's not also forget that he helped save Oxford from relegation, now has them 2nd in the league and also got MK Dons into the play-offs. Not a bad track record so far, right? Oh and also a 48% win rate in Belgium.
Get behind the new man, folks!

Definitely a type. If there had been contact there would be a big piece on it not only by Bristol Post but other sources, not just a paragraph when discussing the state of play as they see it.
Back to square one again then! Sigh

That reads weirdly to me...
"There's been contact between City and Oxford re: Liam Manning as of first thing this morning. He is or at least has been, as we reported last week, among those who have been considered."
would feel to read more naturally if it said...
"There's been no contact between City and Oxford re: Liam Manning as of first thing this morning. He is or at least has been, as we reported last week, among those who have been considered."
Yeah, agreed, was just relaying what I saw. Maybe a typo that needs to be questioned

For info, BBCRB didn’t put out a piece to turn his head, it was Radio Oxford interviewing him post-match, and BBCRB just played that back to us.

IF .. they get this right and IF we made playoffs.. would your opinion change on Lansdowns and respect their choice?
Or is it more the way it happened?
I don't agree with how this has all happened but if we get an unbelievable coach and fly up the league.. would you think fair play or still not like it?
Just playing hypothetical, whilst we wait
Opinion would definitely change. Taking a risk and it paying off has to be respected - however it's exactly that, a risk, which means if it doesn't work then they're going to be up for a lot of scrutiny!

How long before NP’s appointment did we know? Genuine question: I can’t remember, but have a vague recollection of it coming as a bit of a surprise.
Think we first found out on the Sunday, not sure when it was announced though.

On the flip side a manager sacked less than a year ago from MK Dons.
Yeah, but IIRC after 8 games and following a play off season? That’s like Boro sacking Carrick and look at the run they’re on now.

Just feels very meh to me. We’ll see
Why? A head coach/manager with a circa 50% win rate at all 3 teams he’s managed is imo incredibly strong, especially as one of those is abroad too.
Time will tell…
