I am in no doubt that Pearson is the right person to sort the deeper issues at the club out. He’s made fantastic progress off the pitch and we’re moving in the right direction.

I’m not sure he has the answers on the pitch though. I hope he can turn things around and prove me wrong but his decision making regarding team selection and substitutions is baffling at times and I don’t think he has a Plan B when our pump it long to the wide players game plan doesn’t work.

What is the fantastic off the pitch progress he’s made?

For "bed wetters" read fans who are worried. Take a look at the 2 teams last night WBA and Watford either would blow us away at the moment and both are likely to be in a different league than us next season.

Then look at the games coming this month Wigan, Luton, Cardiff, Blackpool, Hudders, wouldnt bet on us getting 2 or 3 points from the lot; past that hmmmm, Sept brings Blackburn, Preston, Norwich and Burnley...we should all be worried.

Cant see where the wins or any win is coming from, add that to the fact that if any sort of bid that comes in for any of our top players they are gone,

We seem very weak atm on and off the pitch, if we do manage a few points somehow, likely we could well get points deduction, if you are not worried you should be we will be doing very well to stay in this div this season.

NP seems very "dull" and needs a bit of bounce around the ground injecting, I`d bring back double winning SC myself, not gonna happen with SL here.

So would love us to be midtable at least this year, cant see it though...worried, very worried.

    Agreed ✅✅✅

But the poster I was replying to said we're 2nd from bottom, so used that as a stick to beat Pearson with.

Pearson has done a good job so far in clearing out the shit slowly from this football club, bringing in the right people and actually bringing players through from our academy.

Bad apples he ships out, and I have a lot of time for him, as I can see what he's trying to do. Rome wasn't built in a day. Don't forget what the football was like under our previous managers, with some of the signings we made, it set this club back years...

Akira- if you had bothered to actually think about what I said it would have made sense. Yes we are bottom of the league after two games. Pearson needs to go based on his time at City not just based in two games. This is a man with a poor track record- look up his time at Derby and I. Belgium as an example

want a medal? and can you say you have watched every game ? have your medal and be gone

Oh dear Mummy has upset you today. Yes I’ve seen City since 1976, so in a fairly good position to comment pal

Not necessarily.  Depends on who you’re after.  Balogun allegedly cost Boro £1m loan fee and 15% of his £40k p.w wages for a 20/22 week loan in January.  It’s fair to deduce from our published accounts that Mawson and Sessegnon cost £750k in loan fees last season (don’t know the split), plus their wages.

Buying a player, and spreading the cost of the fee over the term of the contract can be cheaper, plus you have a player that can be sold too.

What we do need to be is smart with any player we recruit, whether loan or permanent signing.

I can’t see us being smart with recruitment whilst Pearson is here. This is a man whose wasted a wage with Danny Simpson, and whilst Tanner is one for the future, it can be argued the best signing he’s made is Wiemann- who was with us already!

Perhaps the best investment we can make is paying off Pearson from some of the proceeds of our younger players!!!

And loans are Free right? We are on the verge of an FFP deduction if we don’t sell in the next window and that may still happen.  I don’t know what Forests books look like but I will guess about as tidy as ours (he said ironically)

I guess Pearson  would say I’ve been doing this thirty years! This is what works in the long term and anyway this is the mandate I’ve been given.

The fact is we have given Massengo Atkinson Scott Cundy Benerous Pring et al game time that adds significantly to their value. Good luck to Forest but if they don’t make it they will just keep on spending the way Ashton did!

I didn’t say loans are free. We all agree the squad needs money spent on it next season, unless you believe this team is good enough to move up the table. To avoid a potential FFP issue, and no one on this forum knows exactly whether it will be an issue, we will have to sell. Loans will be a cheaper way than paying transfer fees.

Just because someone has been in their job for 30 years doesn’t actually mean they’re still any good at it. A lot of people in business and sport are trading on their name. Pearson is one of those along with Steve Bruce.

If Pearson was prepared to engage with agents he would be a good DoF mentoring a younger coach, but that’s not going to happen

  7. It’s Sunday morning 8am mate. I’m not too bothered whether Pearson does it doesn’t deal with agents. He can deal with the Queen as far as I’m concerned. I’m just saying in the modern game, without a DoF he’s not happy to deal with Agents or consider loan players

in my opinion, which isn’t the same as yours that isn’t opened minded.

What is your actual point about "Not wanting to deal with agents"?

Are you asserting that the manager of a football club must deal directly with agents and not leave this to the chief executive or other club officials? Or are you either misunderstanding or deliberately misrepresenting what Nigel Pearson has previously said and naively assuming that Bristol City Football Club does not interact with agents at any level?

Was Sir Alex Ferguson a clown when he said he had no contact with agents and didn't deal with them directly but that it was the responsibility of his chief executive?

My actual point is that he has said he doesn’t like dealing with agents and doesn’t like loans. Seems closed minded to me

I think after your first paragraph you are utterly and catastrophically wrong

City are finding a way with kids and bringing them on. We need that as our only way forward as the money has been spent by Johnson Lansdown Ashton et al. Loans don’t help building a side buy plug gaps to make everyone feel better about not challenging. Loans won’t necessarily even horkp a challenge, but will help Liverpool Manc  etc build their bloody side for the future.

Would you be happy being a Forest fan who have managed to improve significantly with loans?

I guess the point I’m point I’m making is to highlight a perceived stubbornness about Pearson. Not wanting to deal with agents or use loan players doesn’t seem to be particularly open minded

Luton Preston and Millwall have never spent big like Lansdown Ashton and Johnson….Look at what the idiots spent by comparison to bloody Pearson…Its nuts. Huddersfield have had the benefit of relegation money up until this season/….There is one place to look and three people to look at. Pearson was brought in to bail out Steve Lansdown and the playboy f wit son, (who continues to be a total waste of everyone’s time) who publicly criticised the guy!

I would start With firing Jon Lansdown and putting someone in place that doesn’t think he can act like the son of an oligarch and show up for sound bites for the local rag twice a year!

Totally agree with you. JL has only got the job because Daddy owns the business. Let’s not forget he disappeared last season when things were tough - JL needs to be given another job away from the club

If Pearson was prepared to deal with agents I would have Pearson as DoF, but he doesn’t like agents or loans. Unfortunately we are stuck with Pearson because we can’t afford to sack him

I think we need to go with a DoF to give us a chance of having someone who can recruit rather than ex Leicester players. Someone like Rob Newman who is doing a good job at Man City on the scouting side, springs to mind
