Carabao Cup final to host return of safe standing

The Carabao Cup final between Manchester United and Newcastle on February 26 at Wembley, live on Sky Sports, will be the first major domestic English men’s final in almost 35 years to have safe standing.

Both clubs will receive an allocation of 867 seats within new standing areas at Wembley, located behind each goal, in both the East and West Stands.

EFL and Premier League clubs have been permitted to introduce licensed standing in seated areas since the start of the 2022/23 season.

Standing and terraces were removed from top-flight English football in the wake of the Hillsborough disaster in 1989 when 97 people died leading to all-seater stadia.

Have been in the safe standing sections for the last few England home matches.

Hilariously, the stewards were still trying to make us sit down during the match 

Just wanted to share my calculations on why I think this will be on Tuesday 28th February.

Man City are playing at 5:30 on Saturday 25th Feb and then 12:30 on Saturday 4th March.

Match on the Tuesday: 74 hours after last match and 89 hours until next match

Match on the Wednesday: 98 hours after last match and 65 hours before next match

Tuesday is the least worst option for Man City. Hasn't stopped the TV companies making nonsensical decisions in the past mind  I expect we'll find out today or tomorrow.
