  1. Acey is decent on his day. Unfortunately for him he's another one of the 21's squad that seems to have lost their way.

James Morton is one who may get back to league football. Dropped down to Weston but has recently signed for Southend who have had a strong finish to the season and may push on next year.

  2. Have had my moans about Max over the season but he is a solid Champ keeper no doubt about it. For me he needs to vastly improve on low shots close to his body but his strengths outweigh his weaknesses. Was brilliant today.

  3. What you have to understand is that these players (centre-backs especially) have spent the last few season being taught the 'Pearson way'. Two touches, out of feet and if no ball is on to a midfielder in tons of space then hit the channels. It has been drummed into them by the coaches and this team has been very successful so they aren't going to suddenly abandon those tactics. The training will have undoubtedly been tweaked now to start practising the 'Manning way' but that is going to take time. They have 3 lightening-quick forwards in Yeboah, Morrison and Nelson so why not use them?.

  4. We applied for planning to build an indoor facility at the HPC in the early stages but it was rejected. It is a requirement if wanting to be cat 1. Had it been approved and built I still doubt we would have wanted to be a cat 1 as the cost to run the academy would rise approx fivefold.

swindon have a really strong academy. Twine potentially the strongest to come out in recent years but they’ve had many cases of 17-18 year olds moving on to a CAT 1 academy such as Southampton.

Its catchment area is huge hence why they do have many good young players for them, saying that this is the most talented age group of 18 year olds we’ve had in a long time Morrison being back is a huge bonus if you get a chance see his goals yesterday.

Unless we were to get to the semi final which is a distinct possibility I can’t see us hosting it at AG as good as it would be although the demand to watch our 18s is rising massively with the last three YAYC games being sold out.

Totally agree, it's no fluke Swindon have reached the 1/4 final their u18's side is very strong. Will be a tough game and pretty sure this will be at AG.

Thanks, I think a few of us thought it might be Anderson, but the other day I looked him up and found he was 18…and Tins was referring to a 16 year old.

Yeah Henry is still in the u16's. Anderson is a 2nd year scholar and Manning has had a good look at him in 1st team training.

  7. Some people need to get a grip. Yeah, it's a bit cringe but so what? You ask any fan that's 40-50 years old and that game will be remembered as their favourite. I think it's great that the FPA are trying to bring back former players to the club and show them the respect they deserve. Some of these players are still working hard to support their families in different jobs as the money just wasn't around back then like it is now.

Also, why the sudden hatred for Tinnion? He has given a massive chunk of his life to City. He loves the club and prior to his current role spent more hours than anyone can imagine watching all the academy games and his dedication was second to none. Yeah, he may well have been promoted a bit above his station but that doesn't mean he deserves the vitriol some people are dishing out. Now people are targeting the fact his son was on the pitch. His son has special needs and they are literally inseparable, he would have absolutely loved that so who cares if he didn't play in the match?!

Watched him in the u21s a couple of times and was not impressed in the slightest. Obviously not worked out, glad that he's getting a move, he can try kick his career on, and City can recoup some money and get another wage off of the bill.

Same here. I'm not surprised at all that he's going. Looked unfit, uninterested and one of the worst on the pitch in the 21's games. Pearson would not have liked that at all.

For what it’s worth, it’s worth baring in mind this is an excellent Sheffield United group, multiple England youth internationals, Osula was on loan at Derby before going back to Sheffield Utd, Marsh has hit 23 goals this season and that’s just naming a few.

Yep very true they have a great crop of youngsters coming through. Their 18's are a very decent side too.

Saw Meerholz against Cardiff, looked tidy. Playing a u18 LB in the u21s as it appears there is nobody else to suitable from the higher age group to fit the system. Owers filled in there against Cardiff but has now gone out on loan so that presents an opportunity for someone to step up.

A lot of the left sided players have been loaned out (Towler, Idehen, Taylor spring to mind) so the door has opened up a bit. Mind you, I would have thought Pring may have had a run out or two but he seems to have disappeared off the face of the earth.

Does anyone have any info on either Anderson or Morrison. Two names I have not seen playing for the u21s previously.

Both 1st year scholars, as is Meerholz. Anderson very strong and aggressive for his age and technically good too. Some decent talent amongst the

    1st year scholars.
