The next email has come out. Usual caveat, this will be scheduled communication and not sent because things aren’t going well but the text isn’t dripping with “join all the others who have renewed” and seems more acceptance of “we accept a lot aren’t renewing”

  2. I've done it a couple of times when it's been on offer, around £50-60 and can justify it as a nice treat to myself. It's an enjoyable experience, personally I wouldn't pay £90 for it though.

2nd note, nobody will force you to drink Heineken, thatchers is also available.

     Use of a Season Ticket
3.1 Subject to clause 3.2, below, Season Tickets are issued for your sole use and you shall not sell, assign or transfer or lend the Season Ticket or the benefit of it to any other person without the prior written consent of the Club [Can be transferred to supporter of the same price type, if another supporter of a different price type. Please see point – 10.3].

A bit of it is clear as mud. Issued for your sole use ie you and you cannot transfer or lend without the written consent of the club..yet the part in brackets sounds like a done deal if the same price category? A rubber stamp.

Yet anyone who transferred or loaned their season ticket, to a family member, friend, colleague- well it's impossible for me to know but I very much doubt they wrote to the club each time.

By the letter of the law it's a liberalisation, in practice it feels like a clarity and potentially a but of a tightening given the digital element makes it easier to track.

I'd personally argue that 10.3 and 10.4 constitutes written permission from the club to lend your season ticket to others on a match by match basis.

The sale or transfer has stricter rules under 3.2 but that's different circumstances to lending your ticket for a specific match.

.........and the fact also remains that the club is still losing an absolute ******* lorry load of money every season. If season ticket sales had to cover club costs we'd all be paying £5K plus.

The £20 increase for an adult in Lansdown centre multiplied by 14k season tickets would be an extra 280k for the club. It's a drop in the ocean

Because we are a loss making entity who need to reduce that loss to comply with FFP, whilst remaining competitive to hopefully achieve future sporting success?

Season ticket price increases will make practically no difference. If you are making it more difficult for a group of fans why not just not raise the prices this year? Make it a great PR exercise about how the club knows how much everyone is suffering atm.

    Two different issues.

We talk about people taking pay cuts “in real terms” when considering inflation; we need to recognise here that with inflation running at around 10%, season tickets have effectively got cheaper in real terms - it’s not a cost increase at all, it’s the opposite.

Given the club will also be suffering cost increases themselves, they should get a lot of credit for that.

I'd argue that inflation isn't at 10% for the club, that's a measure of the "Basket of goods". The clubs biggest cost driver is player wages and as long as those aren't linked to to the CPI then the club will not be experiencing cost inflation of 10%. Other big driver of inflation is energy prices and the club will be at least partially protected against that thanks to the solar panels on the roof.

Fact remains that they are cutting their costs through digitising (if they aren't why are they doing it?), whilst still increasing the cost of the ticket.

  7. Cost increases would feel quite reasonable if it wasn't combined with forcing people to go digital. The club are cutting their costs whilst still upping the price. It doesn't impact me but there will be people out who can't go digital so this must be bordering on discrimination.

Yep. It's been awful since the Lansdown stand was built. I wonder if it can potentially be moved elsewhere, and how it would look if moved to the Dolman, would be a real change, lower and a good view of the Lansdown from tv.

Problem with having a view of the lansdown is it tends to be the most empty stand in the ground

Got the impression he did little research on us before the game.

His scouting/analysis department clearly let him down, he expected Mehmeti to be playing. That's the sort of information basic information you expect to be able to get right

  10. The club don't want you to buy tickets over the phone so have no incentive to spend any money increasing capacity. Some ticket types can only be bought over the phone and providing a good service for those should be a priority, but the club needs very limited capacity for that.

But it's not only being applied to football, it's just supporter paranoia kicking in!

I went horse racing on Friday to Exeter and the sniffer dogs were out at a small meeting like that, everyone in the queue was Che ked. Also been sniffed at Cheltenham and various gigs

Sorry my original comment was more related to the notion of banning orders. Drugs are obviously still illegal at other sporting events which is why security/dogs will be on the lookout for them. The difference being if you are caught with them at horse racing (or any sport other than football) I don't believe they'd have the powers to ban you for 3-10 years from attending a horse race anywhere else in the country.

  12. Think this is only being applied to football because it's the only sport with existing legislation for banning orders and spectator behaviour already in place (happy to be proven wrong though). Other sports would need a lot more work legally to bring this in
