  1. Very sad to hear of Dean's passing. A lovely chap and great fighter I had the pleasure of seeing live multiple times. His wife Ghalia was also very pleasant.

To steal a quote from Calzaghe, arguably one of Britain's best boxers to never win a world title. Sadly hampered by injuries but still did well at different weight classes to win British, Commonwealth, European and Intercontinental titles.

  2. Fury's next opponent announced as a Eastern European cruiser weight basically, Sefer Seferi. Never heard of him but apparently he once fought, and lost, to Manuel Charr.

So are we expecting Tyson to come out and do an Amir Khan by achieving a 30 second KO, or can we expect 5-6 rounds of him showcasing his skills whilst getting rid of ring rust?

  3. So the richest club in England opt for a tent.

Understandable temporary measure as Wael is probably busy investing his billions in Rovers new permanent 250k seater state of the art stadium in Filton. They got so many fans some are still making their way home from the Wembley play off.

Annoyed to have got that event. Rubbish undercard and Haye injured going into fight. Stream every one from now on.

Well said & my sentiments exactly.

Haye knew he wasn't 100% all everything he said before was heavily fabricated. Wanted one last payday. I rarely buy PPV boxing these days but was at home with the family so we all chipped in - felt completely ripped off.

Evening mate, did you catch the Charlo fight too? Impressive ko, him v GGG is a mouthwatering match up.

I don't know if we can judge Khan on that 30 seconds but he certainly looked sharp. How much that Canelo ko took out of him we'll have to wait and see though.

I agree Donaire looks shop worn, but he rolled back the years a bit in the 11th and had a good go. Frampton has an excellent chin now tbf. Nonito is such a class act out of the ring and proved it again at the weekend with his post fight comments and buying half of Belfast beer!

I also thought Broner was unlucky not to get the decision, pain me though it does to say it! How much longer Mayweather Promotions will put up with his shit I don't know, he gave Ellerbee a right mouthful at the pre fight presser and made him look like a total dick.

Only saw the Charlo highlights, but his power & aggression is insane. Goes through people, even with high guards.

As for Khan, I'd take another 'warm up' fight before meeting Brook later in the year. He wasn't touched against Lo Grecco, still fit, could go again in 2/3 weeks then set up a mega fight in the late summer. Then we'd see if the return was a 'flash in the pan' or whether he's back for good.

  6. Watched all the action from this weekend.

Impressed by Khan - great comeback statement and made short work of an opponent who took Spence Jr and Porter a combined 13 rounds. As for the in-ring beef with Brook afterwards, I think Khan sees himself as superior and a bigger draw than Brook, and his CV/coverage in the US certainly backs this.

Frampton - good win but disappointed in Donaire. A great boxer who would have dismantled Frampton years ago. Didn't look overly in shape either.

Broner - felt he knicked the fight, cleaner work and Vargas face showed this. His post-fight racist comments and insults always good for the tabloids and entertainment factor. People love to hate him.

  7. Frampton and Frank Warren in the papers today lambasting how 2 x major boxing events can be screened on rival channels on the same evening: Frampton v Donaire on BT, Khan v Lo Greco on Sky.

Hear their points, but ultimately venues, free weekends, fighter availability etc. all play a part. Ultimately there will be a few clashes here and there.

Personally I'll be watching Khan. Interested to see what 2 years out of action has done to him and the undercard is actually decent. Plus his fights are always interesting: he'll display hand speed and KO his opponent, or get KO'd himself!

Yeah, Lo Greco caught a godawful 3 round pasting from Errol Spence a few years back and lost wide on points to Shawn Porter. Khan's been out for ages after a brutal ko though, so I'm not surprised they've gone to the bounds of acceptability for his comeback.

Warren's Frampton v Donaire card is on BT at the same time too.

Very true, another good fight where whoever loses ultimately is considered 'done' b boxing pundits.

Broner v Vargas also on that evening in the US.

  9. Khan vs Lo Greco this weekend. Anyone going to tune in? Glad it's not a PPV so will probably watch it.

Lo Greco has been in with some recognizable American names, but can't see anything other than a Khan victory, KO or points.

Interesting to see what level he comes back at, but pleased he's back at all- I thought he was doing a Naz.

Recently signed up to Ricky Hatton's Instagram feed. Fury has been training loads at Hatton's Manchester gym. He looks great, extremely quick, good movement and has lost a ton of weight.

Any good mate? Guess it was on boxnation?

Dreadful fight, headbutts, DeGale not the talent he once was.

Press talking up a rematch with Groves if he's not fit for the Muhammad Ali Trophy Final. Still think Groves beats DeGale based n what I saw - even with the now dodgy shoulder.

Be surprised if AJ/Hearn take that. They'll want 35/65 tops

Well said. Look at the attendances of AJ's last 3 fights. 90k at Wembley, 76k at Cardiff then Saturday, 80k at Cardiff. Wilder can't even sell out 20k seater arenas. And one of Joshua's fights was against a unknown replacement in Carlos Takam.

Whilst America does hold the money and TV platform, I think it's fair to say AJ is the biggest draw in heavyweight world boxing right now so surely he holds the cards as to where the fight should be held.

Wonder if he’s waiting to see who wins this Sat?

Good shout. Fury would easily beat Brown or Whyte for me, even now, but think he'd most likely take a warm up first. Maybe Sam Sexton etc.

Tyson was going to have 3-4 fights this year and yet here we are nearly 1/4 of the way through the year and nothing.  Is he ever going to return ??

Jokes aside, his recent training videos are very promising. He's lost a ton of weight and shows incredible speed and movement on the pads. I'd expect a comeback fight announcement imminently.

  15. Turns out Groves has had to have surgery on the shoulder. Says it's 'minor' but knowing people who've had dislocations, not to mention ops, I can't see him being back in time for the final. Thoughts on potential other opponents for Smith? I'm assuming Braehmer or Eubank Jr?

  16. Adam Booth in the Mail today revealing some sparring stories from last year.

Said the last time Groves sparred Eubank, he wobbled Junior quite badly with a left hook. So it certainly looks like natural weight may play a part in this bout..........if you believe these sparring stories of course.

It's such an exciting fight. In experience, size, power, jab and footwork Groves is obviously ahead, but can he cope with Junior's youth, speed and aggression?

If Groves can stick to a plan and not get drawn into exchanging with Junior I think he wins on points, as long as his slightly suspect conditioning holds up. If he does manage to win, then Junior really is on the verge of becoming the special fighter him and his dad have been assuring us he is.

Whoever wins this one, Mundo takes care of them in the final imo.

Edit- think we're singing from the same sheet @SARJ!

Agree. I'm going for Groves on points, so long as he can avoid a full blown tear up.
