Yep, and he turned down his old club Cardiff. We had no chance of getting him.

We couldn’t afford his large wage despite Bournemouth owing us a million still for him. Rumours that he is building a house on the outskirts of Cardiff and his misses wants to leave there still….ipswich is a long way

At least you’ve actually been into the Premier League and achieved something though, with Lansdown now wanting to run Bristol City as a business i.e. sell any asset ASAP to help balance the books, we will not get anywhere until our owners move on, but then, an investor will want to buy a football club and not rugby and basketball teams too!

With ffp it’s difficult now though, he’s a wealthy bloke like Tan, is he clueless too? Tan has wasted millions by not listening to anyone, is landsdown the same? What you need in this league is a decent manager, it’s everything…..a bit of money helps as you can build, but if you don’t have a decent manager or DoF then forget it….weve gone cheap every since Warnock and it shows, just a avoiding the drop last year with countless managers.

  3. You lot sound like cardiff fans over the last 3 months. I always feel like our respective football clubs let our two cities down when it comes to having top level football, both can easily sustain it. When you look at places like Burnley, Leicester, Brighton, wolves, Luton ,Swansea, Stoke, Wigan, Bolton, West Brom, Leeds etc who have all had it for a good few years in the sunshine league you do wonder wtf…..you won’t go down though. 6 points, no worries folks.

Really hope we beat them tomorrow, but I’m dreading another insipid performance.

I’m afraid you will be in for a treat today….check our recent form. I don’t think we’ve played well since we beat you at home, and I’m not joking. Ramsey and o dowda not played all season almost. Grant is out….we can’t score for shit. 2.0

Slow start then had a good little run but generally hasn't found any consistency .

Isn't Jones a Cardiff fan too so certainly wouldn't go down well!

He is, I would love it if they gave him the job….please let that happen.

No, not very popular at all at the moment. Sadly, with Cardiff achieving two promotions to the PL and two cup finals, Lansdown's record is far inferior to Tan's.

I get what your saying but promotion 1 he changed our kit to red ( I didn’t go once in red) and sacked a decent manager resulting in total capitulation with OGS in charge….number 2 was only achieved by Warnockness and he only gave him £60 million to spend even then which in all fairness he blew on absolute dross including 11 million to you guys for Bobby Reid who he never played and another 11 million on Murphy who I don’t think even plays football anymore…..even then Warnock almost kept us up even with the Sala tragedy. Two promotions if you like stats but the seasons following easily eclipsed any joy that came. The cup finals were good, he wasn’t around for the fa cup though 2008 and it was a Malky miracle we gave Liverpool a game in the league cup final.

Unfortunately for us the owners version of taking a back seat is unleashing his utterly incompetent son on the club as chairman - because if it failed having him as CEO the last time we got relegated, there’s no way it would go wrong with him as chairman…

So basically, was doing ok just jumped the gun sacking Pearson ? Surely they would have to take injuries into consideration?

that’s the worry I guess, clueless…..maybe Pearson had just had enough ? Some jumped up rich kid trying to tell him what to do…

  8. I’m getting the feeling Lansdown isn’t too popular? Is he cut from the same cloth as Vincent Tan? Has a lot of money but no clue how to run a club properly…..I believe our vinnie has taken a bit of a backseat this season and let Mehmet Dalman run the show a bit more, I think we can all see the difference…..

You will not get to see Tanner, along with Vyner, Naismith, Williams and Wells, which are injured players that would be 1st choice starters, we have others injured who would be subs, so you are getting to play us at a good time, where we are having to put out a make shift side of players who would not be 1st choice, coming back from injury or youth

You know we have a Tanner right?

  10. Nevermind that, roads that were 40 are now 30 in most places like north rd heading in from coryton on the m4, most 30’s are now the insane 20, the mobile cameras will love nothing more than catching a few outsiders with no clue…..as the roads will prob be busy you should be ok as you’ll be stuck behind them. The WAG are wonderful, now everyone is spending more time checking their Speedo and road signs than noticing traffic or people crossing rds…..

Someone mentioned drinking in Newport, is this a decent option?
A guy with us has done his ankle so doesn't want to walk 25 mins to Pontcanna or the Bay area. Not drank in Newport for years , is it worth it?

Just get a taxi and you can go wherever then…..newports a dump

I do know Cardiff fairly well , spent half my youth either chasing or getting chased round it when you played at Ninian , I also go over there a fair bit for work and me & mrs go there a fair bit shopping but also go over to have a few beers and something to eat .
quite like the bars & pubs around Mill lane ( that’s where I will be Saturday) planning on staying over there until about 9pm Saturday then train  back to Bristol

Great stuff….have a good one after the game of course…..

Riverside - is that down pentathlon road past The Grange pub ( that area ) = somalia

No, that’s Grangetown ( or strange town as it known as ) both pretty rough areas but not in a football way, most people who live in grangetown won’t even know a game is on….Riverside is full of dodgy hostels half way houses and hookers…you prob won’t notice walking across the bridge and down Tudor rd to the ground though as it’s mainly dodge after dark…..

I’d just avoid Canton, Grangetown, Cowbridge Road East, bottom of Llandaff Road etc

Walking through Riverside to the ground from the city centre/ station isn’t the nicest of walks either, probably be fine but like walking through Easton. Pontcanna area fine I’d park up at the Sophia Gardens off cathedral rd, loads of parking there.

Driving . Daughter wants to park up in St David’s , have some food and walk to the ground, not a good idea ?

    No colours or nothing.

Bit of a stroll…..you can park up on any street parking in city centre…..I’d get a cab maybe but each to your own….

If there’s a will there’s a way , I pride myself on getting away from escorts at away games , much older now so don’t do so many but when a young un always got away and ended up in random pubs .

As for Cardiff ( the time the young uns smoked out the Great western pub ) old bill had all the city fans kettled outside after 10 mins of realising the pub weren’t gonna sell any more beer and the old bill starting to gather round in large numbers I knew what was coming so a little manoeuvre between the police lines I was off like a slippery snake straight into the prince of wales just round the back of the great western had to keep me head down and say very little as lots of blue birds in there , saying that around the centre nowadays is deemed pretty safe cctv lots of Cardiff banned , there nastys tend to drink in the canton area ( our equivalent of Bemmy )

so basically keep your head down don’t get into a mob no colours no singing and shouting and you should be able to sneak off somewhere

Summed up well…..I’d avoid cardiff central if you can, but if not just don’t act up and you’ll be fine…..avoid canton but you’ll find pontcanna (cathedral rd area) nearby fine with lots of family or normal fan types there pre match. 10/15 min walk to stadium just be mindful walking through canton. The days of mobs of cardiff fans on the look out are long gone just like in Bristol, think like that and you’ll be fine folks

Only time I’ve been to Cardiff (a) was the bubble match on an evening in the 15/16 season.

As this is a 3pm Saturday game, what is there around the ground, other than food stall type stuff?  Not looking for a pint, just prefer different food.

If I get to Cardiff early, is heading down to Cardiff Bay first an option?

Bay is close, a few mins in an Uber even if you want to leave your car down there. Alternatively park up in Park place nr the uni and check out a few bars that side of the city, it’s full of English students so you won’t draw any attention at all. Quite like the pen and wig, decent grub, TVs, nice beer garden and 5 mins in a cab through town to the stadium…..

The issue is (and always be) the lay down of the singing section. It's simply too far away from the away fans and located in a position where the away fans (all 3k of them) out sing the 800+ voices in the corner of the South Stand / Dolman....meaning they are barely heard

Sounds just like the CCS…..singing fans too far away from home fans
