  1. If someone would like too correct me. But I believe it's to create space slightly further up the pitch.

Goalkeeper play it to the full back. The attacker or attackers close down the ball, it's played back to the goalkeeper who can then play it into the space created behind the attackers.

However not all teams close down the full back having become wise to it and it leads to boring boring Manning football with the ball passed from side to to side along the back.

That's how I see it. If someone would like too correct me please feel free. Every day is a school day.

  2. Talks about coaching the team and giving them the tools. Someone needs to tell him it's not just about coaching and time on the grass

    What the man management?

What about the in game management?

What about giving the players confidence in themselves?

Wait a minute that might take away from his time on the grass which seems to be going so well at the moment. NOT

Believes prior to the last two games there was only one poor performance out of 20

    Out of his head.

In 33 years before Manning had taken over I had only walked out of one game.

Since Manning taking over I've walked out of 3.

If this is what he believes we will have a lot of poor performance coming are way.

  4. Just seen the post match interview with Manning. Thought he through the whole team under the bus with his comment players not following instructions.

Maybe it's the instructions which are the problem and how has he not lost the changing room after that.

He is truly awful at interviews with his single tone of voice. Just no passion.

    Manning out.

Difference is most of the managers were there for pre season and not changing the style of play.

Obviously he isn’t stupid and understand the demands of the league. He alludes to this in pressers a lot.

Slight difference between us working on something that’s still relatively new and a club who are established in their style and patterns

Tony Mowbray seems to be doing ok at Birmingham without a pre season.

I cannot stand that on the grass term, it’s such a lower league thing to say. When do you hear Pep or Klopp say it.

Glad I'm not the only one who can't stand that phrase. Sort of thing you would say to a under 10s team.

  6. Like the shirt and it's got a proper badge. Yes it's a bit of a tinpot reason to release it but who cares.

I guessing the players of 74 will be presented to the crowd?

Tinpot or not let's just enjoy the celebration and hopefully the badge will be on next season's kit. Although I doubt it.

The council were going to give city a 'bale out' Loan, the terms of which I can't remember as I was only 15 myself. They needed agreement from the scum who vetoed it leaving us to die and them, due to having no competition, free to take over Ashton Gate for pretty much nothing.

I stand to corrected by our more senior members but that's how I remember it.

Many Thanks Ska Junkie. It's one thing I did not know about the events of 82.

Why did it need the agreement of Rovers to make it happen?

  8. The couple of times I went there on a non match it was always poor service drinks machine not working and rubbish over the tables inside and the car park.

They are, and again, the job they do is appreciated. But that is whataboutery.

This is simply mods stating there would be a trial of a forum (after it was implemented with no consultation), that trial now having results confirming it’s not wanted, and then asking the mods to either remerge in line with their statements or confirm they don’t want to. And again, either is fine.

I volunteer unpaid. It doesn’t make me unaccountable.

    Thanks for confirming that.

In that case I would like to say thanks to the mods for giving up your spare time and a excellent job they do.

If this thread was on other forums I use it would of been deleted and the original poster told to private message the mods.

  10. Scrumpys Dietary Advisor has got it spot on in all his posts in this thread. Manning's brand of football is boring if this is it. I really hope he's got more to bring.

I've gone from can't wait for the next game to I don't know if I can be bothered. But needless to say I will end up going because that's what we do as City fans.

If this is the Lansdown's idea of front footed, entertaining football with a top 6 squad they need their heads reading.

Bright yellow will always stand out of course in a night game but you seriously can’t see Wells or Knight without squinting

Course I can see them In a still photo. But they are harder to pick out, particularly Wells. Given the pace of the game and the fact that you might only have a moment to pick out a player the darker kit may not help.

  12. I often think that when the colour of the kit has been blamed for a teams poor performance it's just an excuse. But this photo from the BBC website and is top of the match report might be a good example. Nakki Wells is not that easy to see but the goalkeeper in yellow is very easy to see. I don't think Jason Knight is that easy too see either.

Yates finances aren’t helped by not having had a home game for seven weeks before Bashley. Each game brings in (assuming attendance of 250) probably around £4-£5k and you’ve probably lost 4 expected games in that time - some will be rescheduled but lower midweek attendances and one was due to a withdrawal so that money has gone.

Im pretty close to what’s going on off the pitch there and the commercial side is really ramping up. The problem is that takes time, and in the meantime a loss of income like that is a real killer for teams at that level.

They do seem to have let the non match day income slip by. I remember when they had stickles and darts during the week and party's on most Friday and Saturday nights.

I believe they have had a change in chairman?

  14. It's been over priced and poor quality for years. I might buy a pie once or twice a year now just to see if they are any better and it's terrible everytime. You wouldn't mind the price of it was nice.

I buy food away from the ground. I can buy 3 burgers from one of those hot food cabinets you find in most small shops now a days and 3 bottles of coke and some extra sweets for the kids for about £15.00.

Again something else the club has lost a grip on.

That is just a sign of them trying to make as much as they can out of the fans. They probably only pay 20p a bottle at most.

We all know this club is a job for the boys and don’t get me wrong scotty probably gave me my second best day behind Mansfield but is it not time to say goodbye and become professional

I know what’s coming by the way

Get rid of Murray? Whatever next?

You lose people like that you start to lose the soul of the club. What with being an ex player and servant he understands the club and it's history, his work behind the scenes, popularity with the fans and work within the community.

Job for the boys or the club looking after there own.
