On 27 March 2024 we parked our car at South Bristol Retail Park, Winterstoke Road, Ashton Gate and had food at KFC and made a purchase in Iceland. No one in KFC or Iceland informed us that we need to enter the car details to park in the parking.

Today we received a parking charge note for £60 for parking at South Bristol Retail Park, Winterstoke Road, Ashton Gate. This totally unfair.

Are you sure that you mean the retail park not the ground car park. I ask this as we shop there regularly and have never entered our number / not even sure we have ever seen a machine. Will look again on Thursday.

Thank you Andy for coming to our club. you have helped our young players enormously. Model professional, sad to see you go. I wish you and your family all the best for the future, and have no doubt that you will make a great coach.

    That’s interesting.

By the mid/late 1970s, both The Globe and The Wheatsheaf were staunchly City.

Please see my reply to Bournes post re my mistake, the Wheatsheaf on the High Street I know. Was the Globe in Winterbourne Down?

I find this a but odd. Did you ever frequent the Swan?

There were about 15 of us who were in there most nights. We would all meet up together before games, over the years pubs changed.

Some of us would always be at away games, usually hiring a mini bus, or if needed a Luton van.

There was also Hacker's coaches. I'm sure many old boys remember Paul.

Yes there were a number of Rovers supporters around. But most of them haven't been since Eastville. Whereas myself and all my old mates still go.

I am not surprised that you found my comment odd , it should have been for 65-70 not the 70s but I didn’t know how to edit it. I know the Swan but that was always known as being in Whatleys End, but no I never went to any of the pubs. In my part of Winterbourne ( Dragon Rd End) it was definitely Gas, the family’s who supported them had done so for generations.
can I ask did you go to the Ridings?

  5. Grew up living in Winterbourne in 70s and finding a City fan was a rarity, it was all gas. We even had Rovers boss Bert Tanns daughter as our teacher, Rovers players came to the school regularly. For me it was always City after my dad took me to a game.

You and many others can thank all those who bought tickets but never went

I hope you are correct about this, but my experience in block S23 is that it is Adults who are not turning up. We have been surrounded by empty seats for some games, and I am not only talking about recently.

I also feel really sad for those adults and that their children who are now being priced out of going to games ( 2 or more children).

I'm very glad the designated family area was in the Lower Dolman when my children were young.

Up in the God's, miles from the action, wouldn't have been the same at all, and we'd have sat elsewhere.

I can still picture my young son charging down the steps to the track when we scored with dozens of other excited kids to celebrate with the scorer.

Children like to be close to the action and see their heroes close up and there couldn't be a more unsuitable area than The Upper Lansdown to put them.

Our boys were with us in the East End ( stood at the front and they loved it there. It is being able to be close to their heroes and feeling part of the atmosphere that got them hooked. They are both now all these years later in SS and our grand son too.

Interesting linked article re Bears and the club moving people from their seats:

So they are moving the Bears children down to SS to be closer to the action. Great but then City are trying to move our children from SS up to Family area, as far away from the action as possible, unbelievable.

I was charged £1.25 each season ticket - two booked in one transaction and £2.50 charged.

    This was the Q&A:

All Season Tickets purchased over the phone are subject to a £2 booking fee per Season Ticket. For Season Tickets purchased online, each Season Ticket is subject to a £1.25 booking fee, excluding all Under-19 and Under-12 Season Tickets which are fee free when purchasing online.

All Carer Season Tickets are fee free.

Once again I was charged for two tickets, the same as last season. There some fans still only paying one fee for numerous adult tickets, again like last season. It seems to be a lottery 😀

    I'm in that photo...cheers Dave 😊

Last night there were approx 25 empty seats in 3 rows of our block in SS, mainly adult season ticket holders. The majority of these are elderly, or come from outside Bristol. How do I know this? because I am a nosy person, who loves to talk to fellow fans.
Am I one of a few who got an email from the club saying if you can’t attend then you can pass your ticket on?

He's not a Leeds fan. He's been a season ticket holder for years and was trying to get the atmosphere going.

It was ridiculous what happened there, all those stewards, people abusing him.

Time has certainly warped opinions on that. City's demise was all of their own doing. I'm glad to see the Ashton Gate 8 being treated better than they were btw, by both your club and fans.

Miah I admire fans like you who have stuck with Rovers. 1982 was horrific for City and like you I am glad that we now welcome those players back at the gate.

In regards to Rovers I hate to see bad owners and sadly I think that is what they are. The true fans deserve better.
