  1. Found the newer versons of FM a bit to much personally. I liked the older versons when you could get through a season quickly without any of the extra hassel. Gets a bit boring now and spend more time reading than you actually do playing a match.

Hello. I don’t know if this is a good idea to post, but I’m the dad of the child - my son, Jay (not his real name) - that ran onto the pitch in the early stages of the match. First and foremost, I want to offer a profound apology to you all, to every fan, the players and clubs for Jay’s actions. I’d like to try and provide some context, if you’ll let me, to help explain what happened and why.

Jay has just turned 11. He has autism and is suffering from PTSD after 3 years of physical abuse at school, being restrained by teaching staff (which was concealed from us). Both of these conditions create complex issues for Jay, one of which is he is heightened to what he may (incorrectly) perceive of as a threat, causing he to flee. This is what we think happened on Saturday.

We were enjoying the game and then all of a sudden, he said he needed to go to the toilet. I asked him to wait and then before I knew it, he said ‘I’m going to the toilet’, for up and walked down the steps. I was about to go after him and then - out of nowhere, he turned and jumped the barrier. We were stocked and horrified. We couldn’t believe it. I tried to shout to him but he couldn’t hear me. At that point, I was really worried for him. He didn’t know what he was doing. As I ran to jump the barrier, I saw him fall. I (worryingly) thought he’d be tackled and - rightly or wrongly - I got protective of my little boy. When I got to him, he was petrified. I said ‘it’s ok I’ve got you’ turned to get him off the pitch but the Rotherham fans were shouting hateful comments, threats and abuse at him. Again, I should have reacted much better, but I responded to protect my child. I know it doesn’t look like he was scared - we do not condone he sticking his finger up - but this is a know protective response from children with disabilities like Jay. I felt exposed and vulnerable myself and so went into ‘fight’ mode. To be honest, it’s all blur. I was saying to him ‘it’s ok, I’ll get you out of here’.

The stewards tried to direct me off the other side of the pitch but I was worried about my eldest son, who was all alone in the stand. I just ran off and left him. He was so scared too. The stewards then grabbed me and I tried to say I’m just protecting Jay.

Again, I am sorry deeply sorry to you all. This shouldn’t have happened and I take full responsibility. I’m sorry. My family are devastated, for lots of reasons, about what happened. I’m worried about my job, Jay being identified and targeted. The ongoing social media hate is really hard to deal with. I get why people are so angry. Football is precious and match days are special and to be treated as such. What Jay did was not acceptable but I hope, by posting this, you might be able to understand it more. This was about disabilities and the difficulty of managing them daily. I messed up and let Jay down. It will take me a long time to get over this. As his father I must do better.

    Please accept my apologies.

Thank you for sharing this. Really brave to come on here share this. It makes a lot of sense now, and gives some us some context behind what happpened. I hope you and both of your sons are now doing ok. I really hope your son gets all the support he needs.

    Absolutely this.

I detest cancel culture and totally believe everyone should have a right to express their views, whether popular on not.

That’s a very different thing to tossers who keep reappearing on here under a variety of different names, with the sole purpose of winding people up and trying to ruin what is a great forum.

Maybe they get a twisted satisfaction that they’ve achieved something, but it detracts from many more peoples enjoyment of this board.

Spot on this BrizzleRed. I enjoy reading the froum. I don't tend to post to much myself, but I like reading people's opinions and thoughts. Its a good forum, and it shouldn't be ruined by a few people who troll or have nothing better to do with their time.

  4. I know its only March and there is a still a long way to go, however my mind is already made up. For me Rob Dickie is going to be my player of the season I think. He has gained us a lot of points and we would be further down the table if it wasn't for his efforts.

  5. We the fans work hard to earn the money and to pay for our tickets to watch City. Lets be honest it isnt cheap, I pay over £500 for my season ticket in the Lansdown. People are entitled to boo if they wish, and after how boring that first half was yesterday I can understand why some people did.

I don't think the players realise this sometimes. They earn good money so, money is never an issue for them so, they are a bit out of touch with the fans. I do feel Joe Williams is a good player however I can't see him staying in the summer. Just my opinion.

....from everyone in it together, players and fans under NP, all pulling together, getting it, fighting, respect, understanding...a feeling of we are all pulling in the same direction. A feeling of togetherness. Fighting, supportive, but respectful and knowing our ability and limits.

To this bullshit within a few months.

Talk about not understanding football, your fanbase, and totally thinking you and the squad are better than they are.

    Delusional.

It's a reflection of how many in Government/Politics read and understand the country and what's needed.

In it for themselves...out of their depth and massively delusional.

The fact a fan base can see it, call it...but our ' leaders' can't is stunning.

' Tecknically and Proffesionally ' sp 🤷😉 inept.

Well said Spudski. Spot on this post.

  7. Completely aggree. The passing around at the back is so fustrating, especally when we give it away or nothing comes of it.

With the aimless passing around at the back (simply giving the opposition time to reset) and the post match talk about “behaviours” (is that even a real word?) I feel I’m in a time warp and I’m watching a team coached by a combination of Sean O’Driscoll and Lee Johnson.

  8. I think we are. We are on a poor run of form and I just cant see where the next win will come from. This is not the time of the season to go on a streak of losses, especally as the teams below us are picking up points. Need some points before it gets to late. Dont want to be going into the last two games of the season needing to win. Especally with the last game of the season at Stoke.

  9. The football is boring. Nothing up front. This has been poor and is getting worse week on week. The foundations laid down by Pearson have gone. I'm getting worried where we will finish at the end of the season under Manning.

  10. Gutted we lost on pens, however I thought we played really well. We probably should of won it before it got to pens. Especally with the chances we missed. Especally the one missed by Wells.

My first trip to the City Ground and was a late night back on the coach. Lets hope we can take it into the league and pick up a few wins, hopefully the miss dosen't effect Bells confidence or the team to much.
