The most important thing is Nige’s health and it’s great to hear that he is getting better. I don’t know if Nige visits this forum but in case he does I send my best wishes for a continued and complete recovery.

Think it would be much better if they played before the match. It would create a good pre-match atmosphere and many people would be around to enjoy it. After the match many people have to get away and particularly if they have already delayed their departure to watch the team’s end of season lap of honour.

I forgot about that. Did she forget who had the ball at the time or didn't know the rules?
She was looking at the Huddersfield player on the ground who was clutching his stomach and not who was in possession of the ball behind her, when she stopped play.

Other than the mistake of returning the ball to the wrong side after she stopped play I thought she did very well. It was refreshing to see her book two Huddersfield players early in the match for cynical fouls. Many referees let players get away with it early on but then book players for identical fouls later in the game. And I thought it was a definite penalty as did thousands of others who instinctively shouted “HANDBALL!!!” when Pring’s cross was blocked by the defenders arms.
As to Huddersfield complaining about the additional 10 minutes they only have themselves to blame. During the minimum five minutes added time there were two injuries and a substitution so credit to the referee for adding additional time and continuing into the eighth minute when the penalty was awarded. The extra two minutes only came about as a result of Huddersfield complaining and delaying the spot kick resulting in another two Huddersfield players being booked.
All in all one of the better refereeing performances I have seen at Ashton Gate.

Exactly, can you remember us making the FA Cup final
It was in 1909. We lost 1-0 to Man United. I seem to remember I was seven years old, but my memory Is not what it was.

I think I’ll wait to see if we are playing in league one next year with Liam Manning as the manager before making a decision.- 1

I don’t think there’s any chance he will return.
The Lansdown’s won’t want to admit that there were wrong by having him back and in any event there is no guarantee he would want to come back after what happened. I get the impression he is a proud man who does not suffer fools gladly.
Apologies if it’s been covered elsewhere, but does anyone know how NP is now healthwise?

With the aimless passing around at the back (simply giving the opposition time to reset) and the post match talk about “behaviours” (is that even a real word?) I feel I’m in a time warp and I’m watching a team coached by a combination of Sean O’Driscoll and Lee Johnson.

As it stands 6 points above relegation
No, that can’t be right. We sacked Pearson and brought in Manning because Pearson was underperforming and we have a “top six side”. Remember we were told that Manning was appointed because we are going for promotion this season. Joking aside, even if we miraculously avoid relegation this year I think we’re an odds on certainty to go down next season with Manning in charge. Unfortunately the amateurs in charge of our football club will be reluctant to acknowledge their mistakes until it’s too late.

Oh Tom please stop with the propaganda. It does you no favours. The facts are the facts. We are doing worse.
Worse or the same it’s academic. The board justified the sacking of Pearson on the basis that we had a top six squad and we were underachieving. We are now just nine points off the relegation places yet with the new incumbent that seems to be acceptable to the board.

Remember going up to see City at QPR in the 1970s. QPR got a penalty which Stan Bowles missed, but he then scored from the resultant corner. If I remember correctly we ended up losing three nil and I also got my scarf nicked by a group of QPR fans after leaving the ground. At least I got to see Stan Bowles play but didn’t appreciate it much at the time!

We’ve been on worse form under Pearson, utterly ridiculous claim. This is Bristol City Football Club, not Nigel Pearson Football Club. The quicker people realise this, the sooner we can move on
It’s not a question of having a worse run of results than under NP. Manning‘s appointment was publicly justified on the grounds that Pearson was underachieving and that we should be in the play-off places. Manning has had plenty of time to get his feet under the table and yet now we are just nine points above the relegation zone. By the board’s own publicly announced criteria Manning is failing yet unlike his predecessor he is being given a free pass.

Who do we get next time?
A more experienced manager with a track record of success at this level. Either from this country or abroad.

There is no way that this run of results would’ve been acceptable under Nigel Pearson. After all we are told we have a squad which should be in the top six and we are currently 12th and falling. Only nine points above the relegation places with two defeats in succession against bottom three sides. At this rate even if we avoid relegation this season I can see us being in a relegation battle next season, particularly if we lose the experience of James and Williams in midfield. It seems that there is one rule for NP and the another rule for the replacement.

Typical City. Get everyone excited with a couple of good results and then revert to type.

I am abroad three or four months of the year and therefore I am unable to go to a lot of matches. However I always buy a season ticket (in the south stand). This does not make economic sense and it would be cheaper for me to pay on a match by match basis for the games that I can actually attend. However, by buying the season-ticket I feel I am supporting the club financially (in a very small way) and also spiritually. Yes, my seat is empty for many matches but surely it is better for the club to have sold the season ticket. We rarely reach our 27,000 capacity so it is not as if me buying a season ticket is preventing others from going to the match.

Showing my age, but my favourite has to be “i’m a knock kneed chicken and a bowlegged hen. Ain’t been so happy since I don’t know when. Walk with a wiggle and a wiggle and a squawk doing the East End walk. La la la la la la la la etc (Whilst bouncing up and down). Subsequently found out it’s based on a song called “The Tennessee Wig Walk” from 1953. Worth a Google.

Since the UK accounts for only 1% percent of the world’s carbon emissions this sort of virtue signalling may make the participants feel good about themselves but in reality it will have no material effect. It’s just another load of woke nonsense as demonstrated by the photos.

I thought it was a good positive Christmas message.
Unfortunately even when John Lansdown does something right there are many on here who will not give him any credit.

Getting dangerously close to close to the LJ box penetration stat…..
Thought it was “box entry”. Never heard such rubbish from a football manager. He seemed to be trying to convince us that we had done well because we had more box entries than the other team, even though we had lost.

Headhunted?
Or…
…used his time as CEO at Bristol City to sound out US Investors, ultimately for the benefit of another club. Before you claim conspiracy, I wonder whether Gamechanger 2020 were pitched by Ashton to SL, but turned down. The Florida trip coincided with NLS conferences (the tier below MLS) and the owners of Gamechanger own Phoenix FC (Phoenix Rising) of the NLS.
The other reason for 2+2, is that Ashton’s mentor Mike O’Leary is the Chairman of Ipswich, having been the same at West Brom and Oxford, where Ashton followed him. And Ashton was also at Alcydon Ltd, O’Leary’s property company.
So less Headhunted, more a case of getting his protege in!
That’s one part of my view….see below.
And there is it summed up in a nutshell. Thanks for putting it so succinctly.
That is the second part of my view.
Thanks for the insight. I wasn’t aware of the background to this.
