  1. I have to admit I was a huge doubter, I thought he was going to be much better than he has been but the last 6 weeks he really has dug deep and worked hard. Now he's reaping the benefits of that hard work and so are we, both at Shrewsbury and again last night he worked his socks off!

    Keep it up Sam Baldock

    He has all season.

  2. Just wanted to agree re Terry Cooper. He use to send me hand written replies to my letters. That is just one of the reasons Terry to me is right up their  as one of our top managers.

I have over the past 18 months sent 3 letters to various members of the club. With not one reply, says it all doesn't it.

Maybe they didn't have time to reply, revolving Door and all that..

Oh for a Terry Cooper now!

  3.  You can agree or not - 80% is the figure given by the club.

Your description of AG doesn't ring true with me - it's a fantastic traditional ground in a wonderful majestic setting with the park, pubs etc., and very much part of the local community. The plans for the redeveloped Gate will be it's next natural progression giving modern facilities, new income streams and increasing capacity whilst remaining on the footprint most of us are proud to call 'home'. Long may those local pubs thrive.

Your enthusiasm for AV with the 'trunk road, the park and ride and the hotel'  makes me feel a bit sick.

    Long live Ashton Gate.

Your points and opinion are well presented Nogbad.

Ashton Gate, to all City fans will always be a special place.

But, like or loathe it, modern football is moving on, and if we want to keep pace, we have to move with the times.

Redeveloping Ashton Gate pulls at the heart strings, agreed, but will it give us the best chance of future success? Limited space inevitably means limited opportunities.

    Making do or Moving on?

With a heavy heart I have to choose the Ashton Vale option.

  4. Well said. Plus the club HAVE confirmed that the non match day revenue streams will be the same at ag once redeveloped as av would have been anyway. All this talk of we cant redevelop the gate was the club trying to push av through. The gate once redeveloped will be light years ahead of the mem.

Ashton Gate is Light years ahead of the Memorial Stadium as it is.

However no amounts of MDF and Dulux Paint will turn a redeveloped Ashton Gate into one of the countrys top stadiums

  5. Redeveloping AG into minimum 26.5k stadium (more with safe standing) vs the g*s plans that currently consist of no valid consent to redevelop their own ground and the UWE stadium going t1ts up?

What on earth are you going on about? Both clubs AIN'T going to get new grounds, time to face reality.

Comparing the Ashton gate re development to The Blue Fews "Fall back plans" may seem like a victory.

However, when compared with the Ashton Vale project, it's more like an episode of "60 minute Make over".

  6. And yet we are 14th (or equal 12th) in the championship form table for the last 8 games.

Others are doing worse and a win at Peterborough would pull a couple more teams into it.

Pompey are 19th in the form table and about to lose 10 points - they may be in big trouble now.

If we can maintain just over 1 point average per game, we will be ok.

I appreciate your upbeat post Cynic, but............... it is City we're talking about.

They've broken my heart more times than any woman ever could.

I concern myself that Forest, Millwall are sure to hit some kind of form (however temporary it may be) and, apart form the last 20 minutes on Tuesday we seem to be sliding towards the bottom three.

Our goal difference which was probably worth an additional point a few weeks back, is now on a par with the teams below us.

I'm buoyed by yours and Riaz's confidence boosting posts, but having been following City since 1968 I'm sure you can appreciate my concerns. I really want to believe..................................................................

  7. None of the bottom 3 will get near that.

The last time you had to get 53 points - the team in 22nd had 33 points at this stage.

Last season 43 points was enough - and the team in 22nd had 29 points at this stage - 4 more than this season... So 45 or 46 is the high end of what's possible for the bottom 3

    Riaz,

    I hope you're right.

But whether it's 45,46 or 52 we're no where near that at present, and inspite of last nights rousing comeback, we have looked more like relegation material with every passing game.

Maybe last night was a pivotal moment in our season?

  8. Not being funny but its more the gulf between the Championship and the Premiership rather than Championship newcomers from below and Championship newcomers from above.

Charlton been an established premiership team for past 5 years, theyre bound to have more money, better infrastructure etc

Bank accounts and infrastructures aren't in the starting line ups come 3 'o clock. It's eleven players against eleven players!! And, as previously stated, unlike our 11, Charltons players are not used to winning!!

Come on, give us a chance :disapointed2se:

  9. To all intense and purposes we will be playing a Premiership team when the Charlton fixtures come around so I suspect, as of today's date, we really do now need to keep our expectations firmly on the ground.. comments welcome. :mafia::violin:

Wrong... Charlton weren't good enough to stay in the premier league, but by the same token, we proved too good for League 1.

As a result, both teams are Championship..and we start on equal points

Difference between teams? Wages admitedly, but unlike Charlton, we're used to winning, and we want to be in this division........for now!!

We spent too long trying to get here. Come on, don't write us off before we've had chance to sing along to Amarillo :city:
