Just in case anyone didn’t know, the CCTV at/inside the ground is good enough that for example, cameras can zoom in enough that they could see the time on your watch.

    That's more than I can do! 🤓

Remember Danny Bartley, who scored in a pre-season friendly against Southampton, Must have been late 60.

I remember it because I saw City training down the Imperial ground the following week.

I was talking to Danny Bartlry and he took great pleasure in showing us how he scored.

Did we win 5-3? I remember the game - but not who scored!

  3. I had a struggle and also had to be let in with a card. The helpful man who sorted it made several suggestions, including running the phone from top to bottom over the scanner.

I was a bit dubious when the match changed from Preston to Birmingham on the ticket while I was in the queue. I thought, I'm not that late! The date was still correct though.

I have used the phone to buy stuff, so thought it would be okay.

I could be wrong ,it as a long time ago ,but from my spot in the east end I thought he ran forward and kicked a ball coming towards him,is there any old film of it as I was 100% there and that is my memory.

I was on the East End too that night. I remember it began as what you might call a normal drop kick punt up the field from the edge of his box.

It was caught by the gusty wind and surprised Hull keeper Jeff Wealands, who left his line to collect but misjudged the bounce and got stranded as the ball sailed over him and nestled in the net.

His startled stance in the aftermath linger in my memory as much as the City players  rushing back to mob stunned Cashley.

I don't think it was recorded anywhere. This was before Jonathan Pearce's dad started filming matches for Alan Dicks to do analysis, as far as I know.

I do recall Roger Malone trying to get Cashley recreate the moment the next day for HTV in broad daylight. Of course, the wind had dropped and Cash's attempts for the camera  got nowhere near.

    At 250/1, worth a punt?

No disrespect to Lincoln, but win this and we're in the last 16, favourable draw and we're talking quarter-final again.

They took 135 to Barrow in the last round, much bigger following here I would think.

also, noticed they still have Hakeeb Adelakun, never lived up to his potential here.

Just noticed he's gone on loan to Gillingham, so not impressing the Imps either it seems.

The keeper when I first started going as a kid. The thing he used to do with the crossbar when the team ran out towards the East End as I stood behind the net clinging to the railings endeared him to me so, for me, the best.

Same here. Real rapport with the fans.

Agree with the comments about his bravery.

I can only add one trivia note. Occasionally he wore a blue top instead of the standard green of that era. My heart sank when he did that. We always lost.

  7. He had a distinctive voice and spoke with a lot of authority.

The iconic match not mentioned by the BBC here was his coverage of City's 1-0 win at Old Trafford in the old Second Division around 1974.

I seem to remember him thanking Alan Dicks for daylight robbery!

    RIP Gerald.

A while back they were suggesting a two week turnaround. Dunno if that's still the case...

Yes, that was in today's Times. Got mentioned on the Sky TV  Sunday Supplement programme. Would be incredible to win the play- offs and be playing in the Prem perhaps within two weeks.

What sort of odds would you get on staying up?!

Some talk of the transfer window being open to October.

Jesus, you're a miserable and joyless lot.  He's picked a squad of professional footballers, pretty much in the positions you'd expect.  Our two centre forwards are out, so he's brought back Wilbraham, who hasn't let us down before.  You don't know how fit or unfit players, but you just can't wait to condemn, can you?  I really despair.  Can you do nothing but complain, even before the bl**dy match is underway?

All part of the fun. I am here at St James and committed to supporting City. Still allowed to comment I hope.

That maybe a symptom but it's not the real problem, despite having the biggest budget by a country mile in the championship Robinson's tactics failed miserably in 2 play off's and he nearly blew it last season.

He is tactically inept and basically failed in every coaching role he has ever had.

if he survives todays loss it will be a poor decision by the owner IMHO.

I would like to see a change for sure. Don't know who they could get in at this stage.

  11. One of the problems is that top clubs will start signing the best players for the next season in January. Bristol's play-off campaign carried on until almost June so they did not know for sure they would be in the Premiership until then. Most of the players had already opted for other clubs by then.

Plus the gap is wider than ever.
