  1. Glad this has come up.

Angle is good for positional assessment (basically a Football Manager view), awful for fan viewing.

Particularly for us exiles who miss the magic of live football at Ashton Gate, you couldn't feel more removed from the experience. Basically watching from the roof with half-rugby markings.

I have seen this, but have not mentioned it as I believe BT should be judged on what he brings to the footballing side of the club rather than his academic ability or lack thereof.

Nevertheless, I should have thought that someone within the Club's hierarchy might have brought it to his attention, although, judging by the standard of their own site, perhaps they just hadn't noticed.

Brian Tinnion - Tecknical Director Bristol City Fc

I was a proffesional footballer for 20 years and played 767 professional games. Starting at Newcasle United then Bradford City then Bristol City were I played 551 games worked as a coach then managed the 1st team. I've now been at Bristol City as Director of Youth Recruitment for a year having returned from Spain last May, In Spain I scouted for Everton for 5 years watching la Liga and championship games in Spain and also ran an Academy over there with 10 teams in Spanish leagues with a mix of both spainish and English players from 8 to 19.

    Wow, great spot.

We're expected that a failed Bristol City manager who can't even spell their own job title is going to propel us to the Premier League.

And a British multi-billionaire is putting all of his faith in this "proffesional".

Sums it up. Our Tinnion-pot version of Dan Ashworth.

  3. Another puzzle in the mix:

    * Lansdown DOES want 34 year old free agents to make up numbers on the pitch.

    But

    * Lansdown DOESN'T want 34 year old Andy King in the starting XI.

Which is it Lansdown? Or just more confusion?

  4. Brilliant, I guess theme of today - another missed opportunity.

The peak of "Cider's" radio contribution was him mumbling out "...Dziekanowski..." followed by tumbleweed.

    Doing ourselves proud.

Suggest you take a look at Ben Fosters Fozcast Football Managers what really happens behind closed doors. On you tube start at about 5 minutes in and listen to what he says about Nigel Pearson.

  6. Baker was standing on the touchline from Bentley's kick. You could see as it was happening that he never once scanned in-field to read the play. Didn't have a clue where he was launching himself.

Love Baker's commitment and wish him well recovery, but is that play to be applauded? Admirable defender but frustrated that it seemed totally self inflicted and avoidable.

  7. Baker's a total warrior and wish him a quick recovery - but again totally avoidable , and an experienced defender costing team mates with decision-making.

Robins TV had a touchline camera tracking Baker seconds before from Bentley's kick; you could see Baker never once scan the infield play - instead just blindly, and almost backwards, launched into a header telegraphed for injury.

Fingers crossed on a safe recovery and love the guy's passion, but a kamikaze header to go for.

  8. On the contrary after focusing on watching Bakinson for a 10 minute period in our turgid 2nd half - I put the game's failure to convert our extra player down to this guy.

It became quite stark that while he uses the ball well when he receives it directly, but he fundamentally does not show for the ball. Every time we built the initial phases of play from Bentley or defence, he stood still and either pointed two arms to his feet, or one arm out to the fullback. There was no yard of movement to create an angle and drag the opposition out of shape. Contrast to Massengo who didn't stop running and always created options.

Such an opportunity missed yesterday, if only we had a midfielder who could have grabbed the chance to run the show. Bakinson just used the ball well when the game worked around him, and happened to become available to make nice passes.

  9. Just a public service announcement for any other exiles based in the Berkshire area like me - you can get your City fix tomorrow by watching Ryley Towler play against Maidenhead, for 3rd-placed Grimsby Town at 3pm KO tomorrow.

Really interested to see gets on in the flesh at this level. Happy to report back! Only caveat is that £18 adult entry seems a bit of a crime for National League....

  10. People saying Leko were obviously not at Fulham...certainly not an upgrade on our defensive unit down the left-side today.

We're seeing our squad stretched to the limits, to have FOUR defenders out of the first team squad (possible FIVE with Baker in 2nd half) is always going to be a hell of a test.

Magnússon just needs to seriously pick himself up, the Cardiff goal was basics in LB defending; we shouldn't have to debate an international defender vs throwing in Kelly against a match against a top 2 team.

  11. Yes fair enough, but it's not CITY related!

    So what?

If the existence thread raises the awareness to add 100 signatures to the petition, then it's worth keeping to try to prevent a fellow club being crippled by the football league.
