Never to the dark side
BBC wiltshire have re-secured the Radio commentary rights for Swindon Town So all of Swindon Towns games home and away will be broadcast with full live commentary from season 2008/09 Swindon Town are struggling to get just over 3,000 seaon ticket sales and we have got nearly five times that many season ticket holders Just think you could be one one of the following situations Lack of funds on a temporary basis minor domestic situation (baby sitter not arriving) at work/college/school maybe a driving employment taxi driving parcel delivery, etc. confined to bed with a minor illness hospitalised visual defect mobility difficulty So if you want your feelings known please contact the guy in charge of the purse strings for Radio Bristol and BBC Swindon this his his e-mail address Lucio.Mesquita@bbc.co.uk
CiderJar
Doesn't the fact that we have sold more season tickets suggest that our fans want to be there, at the game, and not listening to the radio? I include in the group (willing to attend more games than they listen to) people with lack of funds on a temporary basis, a minor domestic situation (baby sitter not arriving), people at work/college/school maybe with a driving employment taxi driving parcel delivery, etc. or confined to bed with a minor illness or worse still hospitalised and those with a visual defect or mobility difficulty. cheshire_red
I do believe NTTDS has his lead Violin out. But then if any club were on first fiddle it would have to be Swindle Town.

Henry
How many teams do Radio Wiltshire have to cover? How many teams do Radio Bristol have to cover? City CAN NOT have both home and away coverage. Move on.

bringbacktherobin
City CAN NOT have both home and away coverage. Move on. Why cant we? BBC Bristol own enough radiolengththingys to do it, 94.9FM for city 95.5FM for Rovers 1548MW for Yeovil if they want to show them, O look they can do it, they are just too cheap too. Why should he have to move on? Hes not harming anyone is he,

We had over 35,000 fans at Wembley. Thats over 16,000 fans that can't see the game every week due to our small stadium size.
sephjnr
We had over 35,000 fans at Wembley. Thats over 16,000 fairweather fans and ebay addicts that can't see the game every week due to our small stadium size. Fixed that for you.

Something tells me those 16,000 wouldn't turn up even if we had the capacity. Can they not take the cheap option (cheaper than going to games) of signing up to BCFC World? Our local radio has to serve all of their catchment area, and if this includes sharing commentary with Yeovil, Cheltenham and the saggy ones, then so be it. I'd hate to think if the roles were reversed what we would say if, for example, Yeovil got preferential treatment.

Swindonlad
Things are drastically changing at Swindon now and in the matter of months the change has been nothing short of remarkable. The way our club has been ran over the last 15-20 years has been a disgrace and is embarrassing and rightly so we have endured lots of abuse BUT it looks like things are going to change now. The new board have money but are not throwing stupid money at it and we are only about 3-4 players away from a decent team and with players like McNamee and cox in our team we are going the right way. As for whoever it was who said we are struggling to get over 3000 season ticket sales that is a little bit harsh really.Last year we only sold 2500 season tickets and rightly so people have lost faith with the club after recent turmoils and alot of people will still be wary of watching the team for a while. As things stand today we are at 3500 season tickets sold ( a thousand more than last year) with 7 weeks to go still so things are looking up. Anyway good luck for next season and as my posts have shown in the past i was actually hoping for a city win in the final. Good luck

Rich-TWSC-
I don't understand what you're saying NTTDS? Are you thinking of marching your troops east to take over the Wiltshire airwaves in the name of Bristol City FC? If this is so I shall form a Rebel Alliance post haste. Never to the dark side
Rich My complaint is that the guy who controls the purse strings for Radio Bristol somerset Gloucetershire and Wiltshire can sanction a new radio deal for Swindon Town in just EIGHT days Yet here in radio Bristol and somerset radio area they curtailed the radio coverage for our three teams in february 2008 which was rescinded due the amount of complaints that radio bristol received You may say that Wiltshire only have one league team to look after but their budget reflects that Radio Bristol and Smerset's budget is nearly two and half million pounds Do you not think that our three local teams should have full live commentaries(home and away) Bristol City are the only Championship side that does not have full live comentary(home and away) supplied its alledgly local BBC radio station one good thing about the new BBC wiltshire deal is that when Rovers Yeovil and cheltenham are at home to Swindon Town they will be guarenteed full live commentary on BBC Wiltshire
