greenun
To make a triple substitution on 58 minutes at 4-0 down? Please can someone explain what Gary Johnson was thinking, because it defies belief? We should have made a change after the second goal on 16 minutes, when it was obvious that Reading were driving a bus through our midfield. Sacrificing Maynard for Noble would have been a positive move, and at least made it a bit harder for Reading.

Gary Johnson had an appalling "game" as manager today but he gets away with it because he can justifiably spend any interviews he has sticking up for his boy instead of answering the type of awkward question that you have posed. simonwheeler
Sorry to say it but GJ's reaction when his boy was substituted today was CHILDISH. The men of the match today were the crowd - First time in forty years where ive watched the team take a good hiding and didnt hear a single boo??? Today we were outplayed and outclassed. Changes should have been made at Half-Time, at 4-0 down, agreed it was totally pointless and was just a case of damage limitation

I texted a mate at half-time that Sproule Johnson and Maynard should be subbed for Akinde Noble and Trundle, and we might stand a chance. Couldnt believe it when the same 11 came out for the second half - GJ made my substitution, which so obvious, at least 2 goals too late. If more than 3 substitutions were allowed I'd have had the normally reliable McCoombe off as well, because he was awful. Next week - GJ is already hinting Adebola will come back in for Stern who isnt allowed to play - personally I'd go with the team that finished yesterday, except Williams coming back in if he's receovered for Stern, with Noble playing just behind Akinde, who impressed me a lot yesterday with his first touch and ability to bring other players into the game, and he has a physical presence as well.
