Guest maxie Posted May 20, 2004 Posted May 20, 2004 There was a marked contrast between the two benches last night. City's was mostly laid back, DW giving us his usual cool, casual leaning against the side of the pod thing, and FB being not much more lively than taking an occasional swig from his bottle. The Pools bench on the other hand was all nervy and twitchy. Neale Cooper and Martin Scott strode round and outside the technical area all match. The notable thing for me was that these two were accompanied for 90% of the match by the 4th official, inside the technical area. It was almost as if the 4th official was a member of the Pools bench. The discussions between him and the Pools management were animated most of the time - I'd love to know why the 4th official felt it necessary to stick so closely to them for most of the game.
jimmyb Posted May 20, 2004 Posted May 20, 2004 at one point didnt he also have a word with the ref about it????
bobby Posted May 20, 2004 Posted May 20, 2004 As I think others have said on here, Cooper was receiving quite a lot of grief from some city fans behind the dug out and unfortunately he reacted to it, which of course just wound them up more. Maybe that is why the fourth official spent so much time there trying to calm him down. now I certainly wouldn't condone the kind of goading and abuse that was being hurled at him, but maybe he should learn from Holloways approach (smile and applaud the fans)!
