Guest badgerhpool Posted May 20, 2004 Posted May 20, 2004 Well done City for winning last night you showed great character coming from behind to win the match. To be honest i think its fair that you should of went up anyway seeing as you came 3rd. Its nice to see most of you giving us some credit which we deserve and not many teams have done that this season. Anyway Good luck in the Final whoever you play and i hope to play you some time soon.
Redminster Posted May 20, 2004 Posted May 20, 2004 Its nice to see most of you giving us some credit which we deserve and not many teams have done that this season. It's a pleasure mate. I think that the players/fans of Hartlepool should be really proud of the way they played/conducted themselves and can consider themselves unlucky to have not knocked us out. Good luck next year in Div 2, who knows, you might go all the way next year! All the best.
Guest lydneyred Posted May 20, 2004 Posted May 20, 2004 Thanks for being gracoius enough to come on here and say well done. I think you too should be praised for doing so well in your first season in Div 2. Good luck for next season and who knows it could be you next season!
Guest badgerhpool Posted May 20, 2004 Posted May 20, 2004 I'd be happy with the play offs again. This season has been awesome for us, No-one gave us a chance this season when we came up and look at us now, We almost put you out, If you did go up I'm sure you would survive, Phillips is awesome and you had 2 good finishers in Roberts and Peacock.

I'm a rovers fan and i heard the game on the radio in work. the game sounded good on it - with both sides doing well. city did well coming from a goal down to win it.
Br 1st ol Posted May 20, 2004 Posted May 20, 2004 2 good finishers in Roberts and Peacock Indeed...Roberts can finish moves with a goal... Peacock can just finish, probably at the end of the season....
Guest badgerhpool Posted May 20, 2004 Posted May 20, 2004 The player what turned the game for you i feel was Murray, What a player he is.
Guest jesser Posted May 20, 2004 Posted May 20, 2004 the hartlepool fans were great as well - they stayed after the game cheering their team for ages - fair play to them
JudgeRed Posted May 20, 2004 Posted May 20, 2004 I would like to echo my fellow fans msg mate. You and your club did you proud and i am sure the way you gave us run for our money you will go all the way next season.
Guest december 1963 Posted May 20, 2004 Posted May 20, 2004 I guess football can't be about feeling sorry for the opposition but one of my first thoughts at the end was "Hartlepool didn't deserve to lose this way". You probably don't want this badgerhpool but I thought of the massive journey home during the middle of the night and it just seemed football is not only cruel but that the playoffs are a particular form of cruelty unless you are a neutral. Its only the fourth time City have ever played Pool at Ashton Gate so I've never seen your supporters down the other end but your support was excellent and I'm disappointed if some of our morons were on the pitch taunting at the end. Your club hasn't had many honours so I hope you get something soon. You have a good side, maybe the best in your history and when you went 1-0 up I thought it was the end for us and that Sky TV would be shortly looking round for the crying supporters down our end
CiderEagle Posted May 20, 2004 Posted May 20, 2004 Badger, thanks for the kind words and for having the guts to come on here and post that. I think all of us respect what your team did to us over the two legs. If your defender hadn't had that freak ball in the face, who knows what would have happened? You should definitely be there or thereabouts next season, there's nothing of any quality coming down from Div One. Hopefully you won't have to play us again either ...
Taz Posted May 20, 2004 Posted May 20, 2004 You didn't make it very easy for us did you As for applauding the Hartlepool supporters at the end, any set of fans that can sit there and applaud the team that have just knocked them out of possibly the biggest game in their clubs history (no disrespect meant), deserves some recognition. Jer said in his programme notes what a great bunch of supporters you lot are, think he got that spot on. Good luck for next season, when hopefully we won't be playing you
Guest bcfcsols Posted May 20, 2004 Posted May 20, 2004 On walking back to the car last night, we had a Hartelepool fan in front of us who was still waving his Pool flag high despite being among chanting City supporters. I just wanted to say fair play to this chappy as he kept the pride and I can admit that if the result had been the other way, it would probably have been a quiet journey home for me.
Squeak Posted May 20, 2004 Posted May 20, 2004 Fair play to the hartlepool fans especially badgerhpool, good luck next season and who knows....2 seasons time you could be playing us in Div One!
Guest BCFC Wes Posted May 20, 2004 Posted May 20, 2004 you had 2 good finishers in Roberts and Peacock. After Roberts finish last night i'v changed my mind about him! but Peacock is poor and we done a lot better without him last night
NickB Posted May 20, 2004 Posted May 20, 2004 After Roberts finish last night i'v changed my mind about him! but Peacock is poor and we done a lot better without him last night Did better without Peacock? We lost a lot when Peacock went off. Maybe if Miller had been on the bench then it wouldn't have been so bad but Le Rouge wasn't up to the job. Ok, Peacock hasn't exactly been scoring too many recently (cough cough) but it was obvious to see that we lost something when he went off, we couldn't hold the ball up. Whatever anybody says, Peacock is such a hard worker for the team, he is VERY unlucky with decisions against him and he doesn't deserve half of the stick he gets (just the other half ). I'm not saying he should be the first name on the team sheet, but yesterday it was shown that he is a better option upfront than Rouge. Que the insults! Hehehe. Nick B

tin Posted May 20, 2004 Posted May 20, 2004 Fair dinkum to you guys. Your fans, well the majority of em, are a credit to your club. We were extremely lucky over the two legs (what with the awful penalty decision to go against you in the 1st leg.) Lets hope we progress to Div 1 now after last nights exertions.

And having seen the interview with your manager last night, he deserves great respect for his dignity and pride. Best of luck for next season.
