Br 1st ol Posted May 20, 2004 Posted May 20, 2004 First Leg, Marco Gabiadini as the studio guest Second leg, Chris (dull as) Turner. Both still in love with the Pools. All angles covered in the discussion involved Pool and whether they could do it, rather than the merits of city... Did Sky ask for a City representative? Surely we must have been able to put someone forward.... Do our Media/Commercial team get involved in encouraging certain interviews/guests etc? Hope this bias will be redressed in the coverage of the final...
Redminster Posted May 20, 2004 Posted May 20, 2004 I watched both legs on Sky (I'm an exile who had to work until 6 last night) and I thought the coverage was quite incredibly biased. Not only was there Chris Turner in the studio, but the bloke who was alongside the commentator took every opportunity to praise Hartlepool and rubbish City. They seemed quite disappointed when we scored. I should have muted Sky and listened to 5 live with Jonathan Pearce!
elko Posted May 20, 2004 Posted May 20, 2004 I think Sky were trying to make it more interesting by rooting slightly for the underdog.
Guest Huddersfield Red Posted May 20, 2004 Posted May 20, 2004 I should have muted Sky and listened to 5 live with Jonathan Pearce! This is exactly what I did and he was brilliant. A constant flow of trivia about us and well not a lot about Hartlepool. Also there was no delay on the TV. And when we scored he was going even more nuts than usual (if that's possible).
Admin Ian M Posted May 20, 2004 Admin Posted May 20, 2004 To be fair, didn't Wilson state earlier this season that he and Turner remained good friends having played together earlier in their careers?

To be honest City didnt do much for the commentators to big us up for But Turner??? what a dullard, imagine his team talks Nor could he muster a smile after "the comeback".Suprised they didnt have Ollie Holly on for some unbiased opinion At least he would have been value......
jimmyb Posted May 20, 2004 Posted May 20, 2004 To be fair, didn't Wilson state earlier this season that he and Turner remained good friends having played together earlier in their careers? and turner didnt leave h'pool in the best fashion - one of the hartlepool message boards was complaining earlier that he spent the whole night making sly digs at them!!!! and i'm sure any h'pool fans listening to 5live are currently flooding the BBC with complaints about JP's commentary and bias so i suppose its swings and roundabouts
Br 1st ol Posted May 20, 2004 Author Posted May 20, 2004 i suppose its swings and roundabouts No, it is more 6 and 2 threes!
jimmyb Posted May 20, 2004 Posted May 20, 2004 No, it is more 6 and 2 threes! i'd agree with your 6 but i'd say its more a round half dozen on the other side
