I went to a pub the day before and asked if they would be showing city vs hartlepool and was told yes, all play off games on at this pub. YES !!! However when i arrived 7.30 last night, the uefa cup was on the big screen...so i asked the barman to change it, to which he replied, sorry mate it's the uefa cup, that's what everyone wants on !!!!!! I argued for about 5 minutes saying how i was told it would be on and so on, but as time was running out i knew these stubborn northern monkeys were not going to change to sky sports 1. So i left, stopping people asking where the nearest pub was, and went to at least 5 pubs asking if they were showing the game, all of them were showing the uefa cup and i had to repeat myself 3 times eveytime i went in a pub as know-one could understand my accent !!! It got to 7.50 and i was really adjitated. Anyway i found one more pub on my way back to a radio at the hotel where i was staying, and i asked having to repeat myself AGAIN !!! and they said yeah we'll put it on !!! get in there. I was by myself glued to the tele, when 7-8 inbreds walk in and start playing darts, in my way of the tele !!! After abit of an arguement i explained how i needed to watch this football match and they agreed to stop playing for abit and sat down next to me... ' what colour are bristol then mate ' ??? REDS i said !!!! COME ON YOU WHITES, all of these 8 men started chanting !!! ' I was in for a long night ... ' After the first half during the break, all the comments started coming, 'why u support bristol mate ?' 'the ground looks crap. ' 'someone has to support them farmers' ... they all claimed to be liverpool and man u supporters, but i was too nervous to argue. Anyway after more piss takes aimed in the way of bristol, hartepool score. They all start singing and celebrating. That was it, i was p i s s e d right off !!! I held my own during the arguements insulting them and anything to do with the north but this really annoyed me, i wanted to knock em all out but i couldn't as i would have been ejected and wanted to see if we could do it as there was 30 mins left. So i stayed cool just giving them the evils to which they shut up, as one said ' he's going to f e c k i n g lamp you one lad ' !!! From the 63rd minute of that match i was silent, thiinking of cardiff last year, and how i was then for the whole summer, if it happened again it would be worse. Anyway as the game went on, we had possesion but didn't look like scoring, i was a wreck, 85th minute i think ? leroy lita comes on, come on leroy i shouted !!! During thw whole of the second half i was getting commens like, ' s h i t t y old div 2 football next season again then ' i always said bristol were s h i t ' to which i kept quiet biting my tongue smoking cigarette after cigerette. Then, it's crossed over, get your head on it ###### i shouted !!!! Back of the net !!! GET IN THERE MY SON !!! i shouted jumping out of my seat knocking over my beer in the process !!! yeessssss, i had the most dodgy looks from the everyone in the pub i think i have ever had anywhere in my whole life, the pub went silent, while i was going mental as if i was there !!! EXTRA TIME THEN !!! by the way these inbreds have shut up at this point. So just getting up to get another pint for extra time, 'Oh, it's chritian roberts for bristol city ' ... go on christian i said...YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS COME ON, WE ARE GOING UP SAY WE ARE GOING UP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I nearly passed out, by now everyone must have thought i was a nutter, i was going mad !!!! what a night, these inbreds were the most annoying people i have ever watched a game of football with,and they were left with me singing them out' you might as well go home ' your'e not singing anymore ' and last but not least ' you dirty northern b a s t a r d s ' !!! I was very drunk by then. Anyway, i woke up with a hangover, but i didn't care, we won !!! What a rollercoaster of a night, but i'd do it all again. For those of you who have stuck with this post, i don't know why i posted this as it is a pretty poor post but i had tell all other city fans how i spent last night !!! Thanks for reading...

Guest nobby Posted May 20, 2004 Posted May 20, 2004 not as good as my night!!!!!!!!!i posted this earlier,but here it is again if you missed it!!! bloody helllllllll!!! i have the worst hangover of my life,and its all thanks to the city boys!!!!! had to go in town last night after the game to celebrate so me and my mates went to branigans for a few pints as it was the only place that would let us in.my mates had to be up for work in the morning though so went home at about 11ish,but i had the day off today so decided to stay out. after a few more pints down the waterfront i headed to bar me after getting a text saying all the city players were in there,so off i went to bar me,walks in and half the bleedin squad were in there!!!!!!!! it was one of the best night of my life,scotty,matt h,freezer,leeeeroy,tommy, danny c,steve p,plus hulbert and others were all in there,and it was great. i went to the toilet at about one ish and was stood there doing what you do,and i heard this crazy scottish voice coming from the cubicle talking on the phone,it just had to be scotty so i started singing SCOTTY MURRAY,SCOTTY MURRAY,SCOTTY MURRAY(to the havin a laugh tune). scotty then comes out the toilet and hands his phone over to me,and I'm there,havin a wizz,p(issed as a fart,singing down the phone with him to whoever he was talking to,it was one of the most surreal moments of my life!!!!! like i said though it was brilliant,with all the city players willing to have a chat and a laugh,and just generally being really sound. they all seemeed pretty confident that we'l do it now,with leeeeeeroy absolutely adamant that we will,he was shot away!!!!!!! but fair play to all the boys i hope they had a night as good as mine,and if any of them are reading this,thanks for a great laugh,especially you scotty!!!! Could only think of Cristian Roberts. ahhhhh then many pints later with ice on my knee I was still smiling. Good day all around. Will be even better on the 30th

City Rocker Posted May 20, 2004 Posted May 20, 2004 Dryblackthorn's story reminds me of one that was published a few years ago with a slightly different slant - 97/98 when we were promoted to division 1. I think this was in One Team In Bristol. Yer man, a City fan, is away on business alone in Sheffield, sitting in a pub watching football on Sky, surrounded by Sheffield United fans. City have already been promoted automatically, but Rovers have fluked into the playoffs and have won their 1st leg 3-1 at home to Northampton. The gasheads are loudly bragging about how they're going to join us in Division 1. Anyway the return leg is underway and Sky put up a goalflash, 1-0 to Northampton. "Yes" whispers our man. Later the caption comes up Northampton 2 Bristol Rovers 0. Matey jumps up and shouts "COME ON!", at which point the Sheffield lads enquire what's up. Our boy explains the scenario and the Sheff U boys to their credit jump on the City bandwagon. When news breaks that Northampton have gone 3-0 up, all the local Sheffield fans are celebrating with the lone City fan! Maybe the writer of this story is on the site and can fill us in? Because I'm just recounting from memory, but it was a damned good read at the time!

You know, I was down at a pub in Cardiff last year to support Liverpool at Worthington Cup. When Gerrard put that first one through, we all went absolutely mad! Tip if you're away and want to watch a City match on sky, click on members and then look if there are any members with the user name of the town or County you will be in, there are loads of exiles registered to this forum and many would be delighted to share a few pints and watch the match with a fellow Robin.
