i think he would be a good player for us if Danny Wilson wasn't in love with Lee '2 goals in last 15 odd games' Peacock. it seems only an injury keeps LP out of the team, maybe Miller will get a chance in play off final

Make sure you watch the play off final mate. I got a feeling that with Peacocks injury Miller will be in. He has had a reasonable season but he hasnt really scored enough goals, i think his miss at swindon didnt really help (free header, 2 yards off line, easiest ball to head in the net ever and he hits the post in the last few seconds in the game, match drew 1-1) and with danny wilson in love with peacock he hasnt really been given the chance to play in the most vital part of the season where he might come into his own, and with robbo scoring for fun it has been hard for miller to get back in the team.

Hopefully he starts at the final and gets a hat trick!

No, he's not good enough, at the moment anyway.

Too slow and too lightweight, Goodfellow has scored one less goal than him, and he's only played about 7 games, most of them being sub apperences (rough guess!?). Miller has featured most of this season just not towards the end.

I hope he does well next season, but people sat around me agreed with me that it was a waste of 300k.

Hopefully he'll prove me wrong!!

Being new to the forum - I'm frankly amazed at the support for Miller vs Peacock.

IMO - if the situation were reversed, the tables would be turned ("what happened to Peacock?" "Miller is rubbish!", etc) because most football fans seem to think that whoever isn't playing is obviously the answer to why their team isn't top of the league because obviously if they were picking the team he would be playing, so obviously we would win more games.

Leroy Lita for example - everyone went mad for him to start, and he did, and he was about 1000 times less effective than when coming on as a sub.

Miller is a slower, more scottish, less strong, less athletic version of Peacock with pretty much identical finishing ability (i.e. average). He's better in the air, but otherwise generally less effective. And do the (probably kids) who moan about Peacock notice the defensive work he puts in? Either in his own box from corners, or up front chasing down midfielders and defenders. We have the best defensive record in the division - and he played a big part.

... .and £350k in today's money, is equivalent to £1m 4 years ago. Miller was a massive signing - and he has not delivered. Don't care if he's one for the future - that kind of money could get you a Mooney, plus another. And imagine where we would be if we had him? £350k should get 20 goals. Miller didn't.

Miller is my biggest gripe with Wilson this season - and I'm a big Wilson fan. Now is not the time to be spending so much on 'one for the future'.

Couldn't agree more. Finally someone without their head up his ar$e. Overrated, lightweight, no control, non-existent finishing, no confidence to name a few.

Two superb posts, I thought I was on my own.
By the way, how do you join the Lee Miller fan club? :P

He hasn't been given the opportunity to do himself justice because when he has played, he's been paired with an incompatible strike partner.{mostly}

I rate Lee and look forward to him being given a fair crack of the whip in the near future.

Money well spent in my opinion.

looks like the same arguments starting again.

I watched the game the other night and managed to get my first proper look at BCFC and i wasn't that impressed i'm afraid. poor quality of football on display. it's a shame Miller hasn't done better than he has because i think he definitely has the ability. i do think he needs a proper poacher alongside him and good service from the wide areas and then you'll see what a good player he is.

I think the falkirk team of last year would have easily taken a couple of goals off you lot if that is the standard. i'm not saying any of this to wind you up - just an outsiders observation :dunno::ph34r:

The last two games have been the first time ive seen BCFC for 90 minites, the rest of the time ive watched the highlights on this web site.

Due to the birth of my daughter have not been able to get down to Ashton Gate.

I know you cant judge them on only these two performances but the deliveries into the box have been very poor, and they play too many pointless long balls when the evidence is there that when they get the ball down and play they look far more dangerous.

remember if the opostion dont have the ball they cant really hurt you.

obviously the reply will be well look at the first goals on sat and wed, but apart from those two there wasn't a decent cross in the two games.

My point really is Miller needs better service if he is to utilise his talent in the air, and i think if you analise the header against swindon you will find that he couldnt really place the header anywhere alse.

the luck just hasnt went his way, but given the chance i know he will take it.

Hi guys, I saw Lee Miller playing for Everton reserves against us, and they recommended him to us when they decided not to take him on. I think we tried to sign him but he decided to go to Bristol instead! From what I saw of him in that game, he won almost all of the aerial balls so that's probably his main attribute I'm guessing. But there was a problem with him, every time he got hold of the ball he would dribble the ball into space away from the opposition players and took to long to release it, in the end he'd be either tackled or his pass would be poor. Not once did he hold the ball up staticly and lay the ball off well, but that was just one game remember so maybe I shouldn't judge him on that.

You guys had a strike partnership earlier in the season of Peacock and Miller your two Lees, they worked really well together but unfortunately they were playing in the wrong type of side. If they were in a more direct team who played early long high crosses and early long high balls forward and a team who defended in numbers and needed that bit of extra time to get up the pitch then they'd excel together, but in a team like Bristol who keep the ball on the ground and play high up the pitch and create chances in a controlled manner they didn't suit you, your crying out for just a good little proven goalscorer really not a couple of big hard working sound forwards.

Finding space is a skill in itself, he will learn with experiance when to dribble and when to pass.He is improving all the time. He is already a better player than the one who left falkirk.

His movement and workrate are very good and he has good vision and awareness. He may not have Henry's speed but has a good football brain and like teddy sheringham will have to use it to be a success, which I'm confident he will.

It is a bit harsh to judge him on one game.

Interesting. That is a very succinct and accurate observation of our season and delivered by a fan from another team. Royal, FWIW, I think you have hit the nail on the proverbial with that post.

I get the westcountry soccer sunday programme on ITV because I live inbetween Reading and Swindon. It doesn't take einstein to work out that, when you create as many chances as you do (and miss them), you need a natural goalscorer (Thorpe, Cureton etc).

Well call me a cynic but to compare him with Thierry Henry may be a little on the optimistic side.

The facts speak for themselves despite all the hype he hasnt proven himself and has had plenty of opportunities. In reality his inclusion in the team in place of Roberts was never justified as has been shown. As for Peacock he had a great start to the season but has lost confidence in front of goal, nevertheless he looks more effective than Miller. Those who are giving him stick are either in the "We love Miller" camp or members of the anti Roberts squad temporarily silenced by his goal on Weds

its not all down to him though.

the service has not always been great. he realise on quality crosses which there have been very few of this season. but when the decent crosses come in 9 times out of 10 he wins the battle.

and if you read it I'm not comparing him to henry more teddy sheringham. ie not lighting quick but with a good football brain.

but he is mobile enough to get around the park and has good stamina.

he is learning all the time, and will do Bristol a good job.

am i the only one who thinks he has the best first touch out of the strikers and maybe even in the team, and also probably the best control aswell

Very interesting to see the variety of opinions.

When he first played for the mighty bairns he was a bit light weight and nervous. With the help of the skinny man (Owen Coyle) he then turned it around. If I was the FFC boss, I would have sold the rest just to keep Miller. He will be better for you next year as he is just learning his trade.

One of my pals is a sheep fan (Aberdeen) and they tried to offer us 3 pints of Lager and a packet of spring onion...we told them to go back to their boring boring SPL and fortunately for Lee he used his footy brain and chose the bigger team who could advance his career. I hope he does so that he can fulfil my prediction of a Scotland cap - I only had 4 or 5 pints before the game that day! (I know Scotland are crap now, but a new wave of youngsters, Miller included will restore us to a second rate international team in future).

My only regret with Miller going is that he will not see "New Brockville" reopening from next season....perhaps City fancy a preseason win in Scotland to boost their confidence before the start of the 2004/05 1st division season.

Come on the bairns...& city as well. (SPL go to F...)
