Guest sdc1978 Posted May 21, 2004 Posted May 21, 2004 What will be the best/quickest ways of getting in and out of Cardiff next Sunday?
Guest Navane Posted May 21, 2004 Posted May 21, 2004 Well, I'm not going next Sunday ( ) but the last time I went to Cardiff for a major fixture we took the train from Bristol Parkway. Keep in mind that you might want to get your tickets asap. Plus, the train will be jam-packed with people before it even gets to Parkway. If it's anything like it was last time, you'll be crammed in the aisles like sardines. Nonetheless, it's really convenient as you get out right there next to the stadium. Then, you can just file right back on afterwards (probably after running amuck through the streets for a while in celebration, right? ). We putzed around for an hour afterward and, when we got on the train, there weren't many people at all and it was quiet. My vote is for the train. Of course, if things have changed, or my viewpoint isn't accurate, then I'm sure someone else will post here with a better suggestion. Good luck to you in your plans and be sure to enjoy the game for me as well! ......Kelly
Guest WillsbridgeRed Posted May 21, 2004 Posted May 21, 2004 Bs30 Reds will be on the City Unnofficially Nice Travel Service which is a coach
The Man In Black Posted May 21, 2004 Posted May 21, 2004 I'm planning the train (getting on at an uber-secret location like I did last year to get a seat ) But if anyone will have spare places going on a coach for two, please let me know with details and prices, since I think I would prefer it for the journey back (the police just want you out of Cardiff, so throw about four times as many people as the train can handle on it - a disaster waiting to happen So PM me details if you have any (live in either Southmead or Midsomer Norton but I can drive to where the coach is going from if need be)
Guest sdc1978 Posted May 21, 2004 Posted May 21, 2004 Bs30 Reds will be on the City Unnofficially Nice Travel Service which is a coach liking the name of the coach there! you normally watch the games with nick don't you (tompo) i'm not sure if he's back in time for this one!!! sounds like the train is probably the cheapest option, but at a price of being stupidly busy - how safe is it going to be from the rabble?
Guest Spike Posted May 21, 2004 Posted May 21, 2004 Well i live in cardiff so I'm walking to the bus stop and thats about it :-p If you want the best way to cardiff it's probably by Train to central Station because the millenium is right across the road from it. Only problem you may find is if City ain't in the section they were last time you would be getting off the train right where brighton fans would be
Guest Spike Posted May 21, 2004 Posted May 21, 2004 sounds like the train is probably the cheapest option, but at a price of being stupidly busy - how safe is it going to be from the rabble? There is usually police in the station and the millenium stadium is only across the road from the station so you would probably be alot safer than if you took a bus like I'm doing Hmm, yeah that's really funny Tarquin.
Guest WillsbridgeRed Posted May 21, 2004 Posted May 21, 2004 you normally watch the games with nick don't you (tompo) i'm not sure if he's back in time for this one!!! Yeah he'll be there, been keeping him up to date - He gets back sunday!
Guest eviltaxman Posted May 21, 2004 Posted May 21, 2004 Don't know about everyone else... butting getting there half cut
Guest jon Posted May 21, 2004 Posted May 21, 2004 After last year, the Caldicot contingent will once again be travelling by stretch limo. My thanks have to go to Harriet May for her arrangement of what is becoming an annual event. Stretch limo Red (normally Scooter Red)
RedRaw Posted May 21, 2004 Posted May 21, 2004 Yep, stretch limo for us too, as we did for the LDV. We originally pre-booked an 18 seater hummer but the pleb at the office double booked it....never mind, 12 lads, gallons of cider and the wurzels blaring out the windows.....sophistication or what!
Guest nickD Posted May 21, 2004 Posted May 21, 2004 I'll be getting the bus from the missus' house on Albany Road in Baadiff. Then in a car to Tenby shortly after the final.
RedTop Posted May 21, 2004 Posted May 21, 2004 By Boeing 777. I generally find it quicker than rowing.
Matty H Posted May 21, 2004 Posted May 21, 2004 We booked our own coach about two weeks ago and chanced losing our deposit if we failed to make the final. It's all come good though. Transports gauranteed. Just the tickets to get tomorrow morning
jimmyb Posted May 21, 2004 Posted May 21, 2004 I'll be getting the bus from the missus' house on Albany Road in Baadiff. Then in a car to Tenby shortly after the final. walk from there you lazy barsteward - 15 mins tops - probably quicker than bus
gazareth Posted May 21, 2004 Posted May 21, 2004 I'll be walking to the stadium... ah the joys of a 15 minute trip to a match day instead of having to get the train and then a taxi/bus
gazareth Posted May 21, 2004 Posted May 21, 2004 walk from there you lazy barsteward - 15 mins tops - probably quicker than bus Yeh christ, I live 5 mins from Albany Road (just off Salisbury Road in Cathays) and I'll be walking down myself
Lita For Congo Posted May 21, 2004 Posted May 21, 2004 Yep, stretch limo for us too, as we did for the LDV.
