Guest Neo Posted May 21, 2004 Posted May 21, 2004 I will go by coach again. For a start all, can pi$$ it up when you get there.
Guest Ricky BCFC Posted May 21, 2004 Posted May 21, 2004 Went by coach last year and got back in Bristol around 6:30pm I think.
Taz Posted May 21, 2004 Posted May 21, 2004 Went by car, no problems getting there or back. Will do the same this time as well.
Guest red_pill Posted May 21, 2004 Posted May 21, 2004 Went by car, used the park and ride, was a complete joy. No reservations about doing it this time... I guess they're pretty use to it, but it seemed really well organised, with loads of buses, and hardly a queue.
Stylus Posted May 21, 2004 Posted May 21, 2004 Went by car snd parked in the official car parks....No problems and i left at 9:30.....3:30 min before k.o
mark43 Posted May 21, 2004 Posted May 21, 2004 Yeah I did the same and found it absolutely fine. Trafic was a bit slow going for a while on the way back but nothing to major. I plan to do the same this time.
Guest Harry May Posted May 21, 2004 Posted May 21, 2004 If your worried about the journey home , try cutting back on the A48 via Newport. Stay on the A48 until Chepstow and cross on the old bridge. Alternatively , buy a house in Wales........... Caldicot Red.
jimmyb Posted May 21, 2004 Posted May 21, 2004 I walked last time however due to a weddign on the sat i will be driving there this time and parking outside my house in a reserved space 10 mins walk from ground anyone going by car as i understand the real bottleneck is once you get the other side of the severn bridge as large stretches of the motorway that side are two lanes - with a bit of advance plannin you wil be able to suss out a route whereby you get off at cwmbran or slightly beofre and take the 'a' and 'b' roads into town as for parking get there early and if u go the other side of the ground from ninian park - around the uni area - there is lots of street parking available - remember that the 'residents only' areas dont apply on a sunday and u can park there - even if they do in 5 years living in caridff i've never seen a traffic warden on a sunday anyway
Guest december 1963 Posted May 21, 2004 Posted May 21, 2004 Like jimmyb I was going to say something on this too. Getting to Cardiff isn't too bad but coming away from the FA Cup Final and Play off final can be a nightmare if you just follow the main motorway out. Its really bad till you reach the A449 east of Newport and Brighton are taking the same route so it could be even worse. If you are in a coach I guess you get no option but if you are in a private car you would do better to come out of Cardiff on the old A48 though llanrumney, or the B4239 through Peterstone Wentlooge. I would even advise you to take the A468 through Bedwas and Machen. Arriva Trains will pretend that nothign is happening on the Sunday so there will be no special Park and Ride schemes but you would do OK if you drove to places like Caerphilly or Radyr (in north Cardiff) and took the train in. There are trains on Sunday from both stations. I'll post times if anyone wanst me to. It's up to you what you do of course - you might like sitting in long traffic jams, but with just a bit of effort and a decent OS Map and you could save yourself a load of hassle. Junction 32 of the M4 is just up the road from me and every big game we walk up and see the queues. If the FA Cup final ends at 10 to 5 tomorrow I promise you that there will be three lanes of queueing at Junction 32 at 9pm. Does no-one ever own a map ? Let Brighton supporters queue if they must - you don't have to.
Lita For Congo Posted May 21, 2004 Posted May 21, 2004 Went on Helicopter and was back in Bristol about 40 mins after the game ended, heh
Guest ziderhead2003 Posted May 21, 2004 Posted May 21, 2004 I went by car, and yes it was fine. I am doing the same this time aswell!
Guest KingswoodRed Posted May 21, 2004 Posted May 21, 2004 Went by car. IMHO it was one of the best organised events I have ever been to. Sign posted many miles from ground as to what junction BCFC fans should take from motorway. Ditto for the parking BCFC fans should head for. Extremely helpful & friendly attendants once we got there, who even gave out a small map of how to get to the ground by foot from the car park. And great memories of seeing hundreds & hundreds of City fans parking in the high rise.
JudgeRed Posted May 21, 2004 Posted May 21, 2004 As i live in Clevedon i am thinking of going by hover craft this time round. My dad has a mate who has one just got to sweet talk him if i can.
