City Exile Posted May 21, 2004 Posted May 21, 2004 My question on 'ask steve' -- A small gripe, and I am sure there will be many making points about getting tickets at the moment. I and the wife are City fans for some 30 years. Like many I suppose, family reasons mean we have moved away from the City, and can no longer justify a season ticket. We are still passionate fans, and get to a dozen games a season, home and away. A small way in which we show our love for the club was by bying shares some years back, and increasing the payment when asked. There must relatively be a tiny number of us shareholders who are not one of the other priority groups. But we do exist. Would it be to much to ask that at the 'great' moments like now, when there are some 33k tickets around, we are given priority group status? I would doubt it acounts for more than a couple of hundred extra in total. I do not ask this for games were season ticket holders themselves will gobble up all the tickets - quite right they get priority. But please, can we not at least be ranked a little ahead of the 'never get to a game but fancy this one' crowd. I have been to all the great City games over the last three decades. Now I guess I will have to take my chances with Uncle Tom Cobbly and all. The club asked us for some dosh because it needed it some years back. Could we at least not be remembered for some pay back, which does not actually cost the club anything, at times like this? edit - seen response below. There may be 3,000 shareholders, but I would be gobsmacked if the vast majority did not get prioirity some other way. Even at the higher number, are you content that the owners of the club rank the same as Jo public ---- response -- We did reviewe the position of shareholders but with over 3,000 - many with small holdings, we didn't think it fair on other supporters to give them priority. Colin -- So that's the view of the club. Fair enough - they gave a very prompt one, and I am sure they are innundated with 'not fair' complaimts. So as this is being done in your, the supporters, name, does this seem fair to you, in the rare game like this where there is enough to go round?
cheshire_red Posted May 21, 2004 Posted May 21, 2004 Brilliant post I am dismayed by the response, let's hope the club don't need to use the begging bowl in future. You look after 'your own' first should be the motto.
reddoc Posted May 21, 2004 Posted May 21, 2004 Agree entirely, similarly exiled, been to over 20 games this season, usually with two kids and other half, drove up to Hartlepool at last minute as the club finally realised the attendance was going to be embarrassing so e-mailed us asking us to buy tickets, but inevitably a little like your shares , don't need us this time so we become an irrelevant irritant to them when we ask them to repay this loyalty. What can you say?
Guest uncle john Posted May 21, 2004 Posted May 21, 2004 I agree, it is very unfair, but the reality is you will be able to get tickets, I hope: 33,000 is a lot when you only have a real fan base of 15,000 and as experienced City fans you have the dedication for phone lines and queueing that other fairweathers, who you are up against, simply won't have. I was in the same position for Wembley and got them with ease. You'll be alright; I hope so anyway.
RedTauntonian Posted May 21, 2004 Posted May 21, 2004 There is going to be about at least 5000 or so at cardiff, that won't even bother to go to a game next season, and theres 3000 shereholders that have put something in to the club when they needed it, Surely these should have priority to these tickets to them. Also everyone that doesn't have priority but went to Hartlepool, should also be given priority. Once again City have stabbed the REAL fans in the back, absolute disgrace.
Guest nickD Posted May 21, 2004 Posted May 21, 2004 I also feel a little stabbed in the back.... What WBA do when they have an occasion like this (and also when trying to get season tickets when they got promoted last time) is they ask you to present 'x' amount of ticket stubs for when you try to buy your tickets. (NB: On our ticket stubs it says 'please retain for future applications....Perfect Time!!!!) This is the best option, I feel, as it demonstrates if you actually have attended the games and cheered on the team on a wednesday night in November, say, and not fancying the people who are going to the Mill Stad for the sheer hell of success.
Granty Posted May 21, 2004 Posted May 21, 2004 Agree 100%, I too have been to every home game this season and am also a shareholder from our darkest days !!. I do not have a season ticket (although this has been rectified for next season) and just assumed that as a shareholder I would part of the priority group. So I guess its thanks for helping us a while back but now piss off. :@
deadratinmycider Posted May 21, 2004 Posted May 21, 2004 Agree with you 100%, that is a shocking and dismissive response from Colin. If I were you I would be livid. :@ :@
