x3widRacin Posted May 21, 2004 Posted May 21, 2004 "Of all the semi-finalists, the worst two clubs got through to the final." Swindon Manager in his article on bbc sport
tin Posted May 21, 2004 Posted May 21, 2004 Andy King is nothing short of a joke. If the two worst teams got to the final then I ask him "Who finished 3rd and 4th?" The league table doesn't lie after 46 games. What a prat!
HertsRed Posted May 21, 2004 Posted May 21, 2004 Judging solely on performances in the actual playoff games, which is what he is getting at, he is spot on.
Bristol Boy Posted May 21, 2004 Posted May 21, 2004 What struck me about the two losing semi finalists was the ungracious nature of both, "yob culture," managers. Grow up chaps-Take a leaf out of Ranieri's book and loose or win with dignity.
Bristol Boy Posted May 21, 2004 Posted May 21, 2004 King also thinks that a shot that hits the post is "On Target!" MORON
Guest cityloyal Posted May 21, 2004 Posted May 21, 2004 i seem to remeber king throwing his teddy after they lost at ashton gate, with remarks something along the line of we will definitely beat them at the county ground. the bloke is a bad loser and seriously needs to grow up.
Guest bristolbred Posted May 21, 2004 Posted May 21, 2004 His name should be........ Wayne King!!!. Come on you REDS!!!!!!. Cardiff here we come!!!!!!.

Very true but there's no need to react the way he has. Mark McGhee reacted with dignity, acknowledging that they didnt warrant a place in the final but even that wasn't good enough for King. Again, what a prat!
WesM Posted May 21, 2004 Posted May 21, 2004 Judging solely on performances in the actual playoff games, which is what he is getting at, he is spot on. I think you are spot on HertsRed. Andy King is being misquoted by the report and people are jumping down his throat without understanding the context of his comments. As you said, he is talking about the performances of the respective teams in those two games. Only the most staunchest and blindest of City fans can say that Hartlepool deserved what they got on Wednesday night. Whilst I thought both Brighton and Swindon were poor, at least Swindle had a go, more so than Brighton did. They had a moment of good fortune in the 120th minute, the right back Virgo gambled, got in the box and equalized. Did Brighton deserve it...not really, but what a game it makes and it's why we all love it!! Whilst I'm not founding the Andy King fanclub, he speaks his mind, wears his heart on his sleeve, (whatever the hell that means) and most of the time, talks sense. I sometimes wish our manager showed as much passion and emotion as others. People may understand him a bit more.

He is thick as two short planks otherwise he would have explained clearly that in both semi's the teams that raised their games and played the better footy lost!! As he has been in footy far longer then me, he should well know as I do from watching city in the last few seasons that the team that plays best does not always win!! how many times have city wiped the floor with sides only to concide a goal and either lose or draw a game we should have won...... sour flipping grapes is what it is but I do know what he MEANT!
Guest dez_gimred Posted May 21, 2004 Posted May 21, 2004 andy king is a bitter twisted old man...enough said he needs to stop smoking them cigars and start acting like a decent human being rather than a total #### all his life.. pathetic, he wont be missed next season :@
Guest dan_84 Posted May 21, 2004 Posted May 21, 2004 Everyone's entitled to their own view. At the end of the day we're in the final and they're not regardless of how we both performed. We may have got some luck but then again i'm sure we've had our fair share of bad luck throughout the season so all in all we deserve it, not forgetting we finished 3rd as oppposed to swindons 6th
City Rocker Posted May 21, 2004 Posted May 21, 2004 Who was it who said, "The more I practise, the luckier I get"?
Simez Posted May 21, 2004 Posted May 21, 2004 When King was being interviewed on tv about the second leg he mentioned 'The Goldstein Ground' so he couldn't even get the name of the old ground right, let alone name the Withdean.
