Guest rossitl Posted May 22, 2004 Posted May 22, 2004 Can I suggest a new system for these next big games. Its pretty bad that everyone has to wait in queues for 5 hours to get hold of any decent tickets and there must be a better way of handling this, especially for those poor people who live some distance away from Bristol. In addition although I live in Bristol I dont particulary like wasting my Saturday standing in a queue watching the young generation just walking past buying their tickets. As I read in a previous post there were elderly couples in the queue today and with the weather as hot as it was some did think they would end up collapsing. We have what? 8,000 to 9,000 season ticket holders. Can you not issue all these people with unique pin numbers that only you and the season ticket holder would know. This would allow the elderly and others to enter their pin into the telephone and us more technical people to do it online. This PIN number along with their book number will diminish the possibility of tickets issued to the wrong people. This surely would reduce the queues significantly to an absolute minimum and ultimately save the company money in unnecessary wages, food, drink etc. What do the Man Utd/Arsenal organisers do every year, I'm sure they do not hang around for 5 hours! Its time to be a professional outfit

This is something that should've been reported to a steward. Even places like Alton Towers/Disney Land have these problems. Its time to be a professional outfit Totally agree. I think BCFC has become alot more professional this season but I admit our ticketing has been quite old fashioned. Maybe the club has not chosen the right ticketing comany and should look to the future technology more. Can you not issue all these people with unique pin numbers that only you and the season ticket holder would know. I cant see this working really, but I'm sure the basics could be developed. I'm all for a new tickeing system at Ashton Gate, especially if we go up. Look at this previous thread for modern technology ticketing!!!!

Its time to be a professional outfit great idea however as well as a pin code people would also need to have some sort of password. with a pin code you could in theory put in any old numbers and strike it lucky!!! but agree great idea and your right theres no way the likes of arsenal and manure fans go through the pain of queing for 5 hours for tickets!! like you said its time to start being a professional outfit
Guest rossitl Posted May 22, 2004 Posted May 22, 2004 I was thinking of that this morning Cynic whilst I had 5 hours to kill. Not sure how it would be set up cause it might take a bit of work, but you could tier out the season ticket holders. ie those who have been to all games are priority A, those whove been to 10 onwards, priority B and so on..... This will sort out the people who have season tickets and who dont but buy tickets a lot of times
Johnny Casio Posted May 22, 2004 Posted May 22, 2004 I think that the best ticketing system is when it is built on a point scheme as the likes of charlton etc and manchester u i believe next season. It is a good idea though and I think the errors from today can help as a turning point in the BCFC ticketing system. Cheers! Pete
NATCHER Posted May 22, 2004 Posted May 22, 2004 I don't understand why season ticket holders should have priority anyway. Doesn't the money from Season Ticket sales keep clubs going through the summer when there is no "football" money coming in ?
Guest rossitl Posted May 22, 2004 Posted May 22, 2004 yes, thats also a good point sharky. Think were all agreed something more modern needs to be put in place
Clevedon Red Posted May 22, 2004 Posted May 22, 2004 How do Manure deal with these things? I note that both West Ham & Crystal Palace pass everything to an outside ticket agency so the only queues were on the phone.

Guest dez_gimred Posted May 22, 2004 Posted May 22, 2004 In addition although I live in Bristol I dont particulary like wasting my Saturday standing in a queue watching the young generation just walking past buying their tickets. not sure what age criteria you are aiming at.. I'm 16 and saw some similar aged lads weaving their way further and further through the queue.. however that was on one occasion...and several times I saw older people 20 -30 just walk up the queue and say ''whatshername is along here somewhere, just find them and join the queue there'' this pi**ed me off even more, fair enough if they were there from the start, but just turning up.. :@
Guest bcfcsols Posted May 23, 2004 Posted May 23, 2004 yes, thats also a good point sharky. Think were all agreed something more modern needs to be put in place I think what it boils down to is that BCFC have employed the wrong ticketing company (everyone saw how their website crashed under the pressure of selling tickets for the Harletpool game), and should be looking for a more established or ambitious way of selling large amounts of tickets in the modern world.
