Guest ontheup Posted May 24, 2004 Posted May 24, 2004 Who thinks it would be nice to see the Robin back on the team shirts? if it was good enough for the old first division then it should be good enough for the new.
cider head Posted May 25, 2004 Posted May 25, 2004 Who thinks it would be nice to see the Robin back on the team shirts? if it was good enough for the old first division then it should be good enough for the new. yes, but i'd like to see both badges used
Percy Parrot Posted May 31, 2004 Posted May 31, 2004 not too fussed about the robin actually- I think it is a crying shame we no longer have the Clifton Suspension bridge on our badge. It is a recognisable emblem of Bristol, overlooks Ashton Gate like a Guardian and is so majestic. The coat of arms looks nice, but does nothing for me. So many clubs have coats of arms and they do not stand apart. 95% of football fans would not recognise our badge. Compare that to individual ones that we all recognise- Millwall, Rovers, Palace, Swindon, Man Utd, Brighton, Reading, Wolves, QPR, Portsmouth, Plymouth, Oxford, Derby, Torquay etc etc. BRING BACK THE BRIDGE!
Guest blakeneybaz Posted May 31, 2004 Posted May 31, 2004 I agree totally. We SHOULD have the robin, and the suspension bridge on our badge. the old badge was much better, and much more recognisable as being Bristol City, than the coat of arms. Why is it that whenever anything works well, someone has to decide to change it?! blakeneybaz
Guest ziderhead2003 Posted June 2, 2004 Posted June 2, 2004 It would be nice to see it back on there! But it wouldn't look right.
Guest XxX sxy_babe_04 XxX Posted June 2, 2004 Posted June 2, 2004 I AGREE!!! we should use the old robins badge with the suspension bridge on it!!
Guest MrT Posted June 10, 2004 Posted June 10, 2004 The good thing about the crest is that it represents the entire city of Bristol and as we all know there is only One Team In Bristol It helps marginalise Bristol Rovers symbolically. Having said that the robin did look good Perhaps it could be woven into the shirts fabric in a lighter or darker red (probably too costly) Its a shame it has been discarded as I rather liked it but not really as a club badge though.
The Man In Black Posted June 10, 2004 Posted June 10, 2004 As I said on the main board, keep the coat of arms, but put the Robin somewhere else, such as on the back under the collar or on the sleeve. Not to sure about having them both on the chest though Cider Head, looks a bit odd if you ask me
Guest Ricky BCFC Posted June 10, 2004 Posted June 10, 2004 Funnily enough I was thinking about this only this morning. I would definately like to see the old Robin badge brought back somehow.
Guest wishbone Posted June 10, 2004 Posted June 10, 2004 bridge + football + robin = pride in BRISTOL Coat of arms is ok, but the above identifies us immediately to everyone.
