Robbored Posted May 24, 2004 Posted May 24, 2004 According to the EP today Peacock is uncertain to be fit for Sunday. The question is - does it really matter? With just 3 goals in around the last 24 games Peacock is hardly a goal threat.I appreciate that he's a hard worker and defends when he has to but I can't see Brighton worrying too much about whether he plays or not. They'd be more delighted if the pacy Roberts was missing. Miller is the obvious replacement but maybe Lita with his pace could also do the job.Brighton don't have much pace at the back and will probably defend deep to nullify City's pace and so a goal poacher like Lita could be a real asset.
thatcham red Posted May 24, 2004 Posted May 24, 2004 It's got to be Miller I would have thought. Can't see Danny giving the responsibility to Lita for the whole game. The only thing that goes against this is the fact that Miller hasn't even made the bench lately, which is criminal Outside bet would be to leave Rougier in the middle and Scott out wide?

My worry would be that he will play even if he is only 75/80% fit, Wilson will do his best to get him into the team. Mind you if he is not fit he might stay around the penalty area more. I think we would have to play Miller, it was very noticeable that once he went off it was a struggle for the rest of the team to find a consistent target to aim for.
The Humble Realist Posted May 24, 2004 Posted May 24, 2004 If Peacock is not fit enough to start my money would have to be on Rougier starting up front. However i would play mIller but i aint danny wilson!
wesco Posted May 24, 2004 Posted May 24, 2004 After his miss against Swindon, I can see Miller getting the winner
Will Rollason Posted May 24, 2004 Posted May 24, 2004 Had to laugh at Sky coverage...Peacock main threat...top scorer(yes i know) ...good in air... I think hes worked hard etc etc.....but...but...I want MILLER ahh thats better. Or Leroy, they will sit back...lets chuck the kitchen sink at them.. Murray,Rougier,Doc,Tinns,Freezer Robbo,Miller.... ATTACK
Guest MegaSpim Posted May 24, 2004 Posted May 24, 2004 To be fair i think we will miss the workrate of Peacock, but then again that is no great loss, i would rather have someone on the pitch that will score goals. I think that Miller and Roberts could form such a good strike partnership but i don't think Wilson will even consider it, i mean Miller wasn't even been on the bench for the games against Hartlepool.
Dave L Posted May 24, 2004 Posted May 24, 2004 And if Lee Peacock doesn't play on Sunday, does that mean he's played his last match for Bristol City?
Guest yajrellim Posted May 24, 2004 Posted May 24, 2004 Just think how desperate and hungray Miller will be to show DW what he has been missing, it could turn out to be a spark of inspiration Miller and roberts up front, with rougier and murray on the wings
Guest DANBOY_BCFC Posted May 24, 2004 Posted May 24, 2004 Roberts is a must but Brighton have a physical and no nonsence backline that will batter Leroy and Lee M so if he is fit enough to play Peacock should get the nod. Peacock and Roberts partnership is v.similar to Iwelumo and Knight and should be 1st choice IMO. Miller isnt physical enough yet and does get knocked off the ball very easily and spends a lot of the time on the ground where as Lee P is my more physical and gives as good as he gets. Leroy shouldnt start as he and Robbo IMO would not be affective togther as they are both pacey and I feel we need Leapy who will do all the hard work, hold up the ball and bring Scotty, Rouge, Robbo etc into the game, and work his ass off for the team. Leroy and Lee M to be on the bench though.

Don't necessarily disagree with your analysis, but on that basis wouldn't Rougier be a good option up front if Peacock isn't fit - he's strong and can hold the ball up pretty well. I'd like to see Peacock/Roberts or Roberts/Rougier, with Miller on the bench.

I'd like to see Peacock/Roberts or Roberts/Rougier, with Miller on the bench. Miller and Roberts didn't fare too badly against Brighton earlier in the season, so I can see no reason why it wouldn't work again now, with a confident Roberts and Miller desperate to show his worth. I wouldn't mind Peacock being on the bench, if he's fit enough to give us 20 minutes, as his hold up play against a tiring Brighton could be important to us yet.
Guest BCFC Wes Posted May 24, 2004 Posted May 24, 2004 And if Lee Peacock doesn't play on Sunday, does that mean he's played his last match for Bristol City? I really hope so. I don't think hes done enough to earn a new contract
Guest Posted May 24, 2004 Posted May 24, 2004 I really hope so. I don't think hes done enough to earn a new contract Oh dear get rid of the top goalscorer AS USUAL NO
Gerry Gows' Tash Posted May 24, 2004 Posted May 24, 2004 Despite his moderate scoring record I think Leapy is an asset to the team and a handfull for opposing defences, what people seem to forget is that goals scored are a product of the whole team, the best striker in the world struggles without service and great teams tend to have a number of players who can score. Leapy does work hard, even when it's not going his way, and if hes fit I think he should feature in the game. Trouble is I also think that Miller, Robbo, Murray and Rouge should as well !
