Guest MD1 Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 I don't often post on here but do read threads on a daily basis. My question is in the title. Saturday mornings used to hold a magical feeling for me, especially when I was young. The thought of watching my hero's like Mark Gavin, Dave Smith and so through the years the likes of Greg Goodridge, Shaun 'feed the Goat and he will score' Goater I could go on but youll understand the type of players I mean made me really look forward to getting to the Gate. That feeling seems to have deserted me gradually over the past few years. My little one will soon be old enough to come with me on a Saturday, will they feel the way I did in the 'good' days? and how do I regain that lost passion/excitement?
Monkeh Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 the magic went when they took paul daniels off TV
Guest Joshyshaw Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 Seems like another thread about how bad we are at the moment. I started watching city in the tommy doherty and brian tinnion days and i know what you mean. But we're just in a bit of a transition phase and trying to establish ourselves in the champo. Regardless of our status within the division, I'd rather be in the championship than league 1. I do think we need a new manager to take us forward but in terms of team we can't expect the "magic" for a couple of years yet, but stay faithful and it'll come
Monkeh Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 It went when Basso (who I dont rate as superman) and Orr left the club. They were our backbone, they had the personality that lead us in to the breach. They had something the fans could connect with, two genuine people who always wore the shirt with pride. Who in our current squad do we all feel connected to? Albert is perhaps the only one and I put that down to the fact that he has worked for a living and is truely grateful for the talent he has. The magic left when the connection left. passion is what your looking for Jord, those 2 had more passion then the entire squad management team and board we have now put together

The magic left when the connection left. I was going to write the same Jordan. Basso, Orr and Murray all had that little bit that fans connected too. And yes...for some reason Albert is the only one i feel the same way about. Kilkenny coming along nicely too...I can see him being a force for this Club.
Puckle_red Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 The Magic? He manages Northampton Town
Puckle_red Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 p.s. As soon as we get a proper manager the feeling will come back...
Garland-sweden Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 p.s. As soon as we get a proper manager the feeling will come back... Or when we will winning games. Lets start on saturday.

The magic left when the connection left. agree with this mate. When these two left, along with GJ having to be replaced....we lost something at this club, and its not been replaced. Millen has the charisma and passion of a goldfish, as do pretty much a vast majority of our players. The closest we have to someone buzzing with passion I feel, is Kilkenny....and for some reason Millen see's fit to sub him constantly whilst leaving others on the pitch. For me, Kilkenny should be a regular in this team AND captain
Puckle_red Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 Or when we will winning games. Lets start on saturday. I hope we do but that won't change the 4000 fans we've lost and the buzz around the place. It also won't bring back the passion that he surrounded the club with.
Martyn Hocking Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 Totally agree with you Jordan (first time for everything....) It now feels to me like we have a bunch of 'mercenaries' (I use the term loosely) playing for us who have absolutely no connection with the fans. That would be bearable if we had a manager with bags of passion but we don't.
Guest extonsred2011 Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 Wonder if Orr would want to come back -- not even i the squad tho may be injured. Be a great captain and a driving force -- would certainly get the crowd's support.
