Tomo Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 http://mirkobolesan.wordpress.com/2010/01/02/end-of-a-decade/ The last decade was a good one then ?
The Dolman Pragmatist Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 http://mirkobolesan....nd-of-a-decade/ The last decade was a good one then ? Of course it was. Almost always in the top half of the table, usually in or near the play-off zone. City fans don't seem to realise how lucky they've been, and the fact they are prepared to turn on the manager at the first sight of difficulty (and I continue to remind people that after Coppell's departure had worn off last season, we were close to play-off form for the last three-quarters) I find profoundly depressing. So many keyboard warriers thinking they know all that there is to know about being a football manager. Millen is a clever guy who knows what needs to be done, and is trying to achieve it with the players he has, in difficult economic conditions (which the average OTIB hero seems to completely ignore). He may not succeed, and if he doesn't then we will have a change of manager, but he deserves a chance. Remember the patience we had to have in the first few years of Alan Dicks, who many fans would say was our best ever manager...

Remember the patience we had to have in the first few years of Alan Dicks, who many fans would say was our best ever manager... I respect your opinion but its not really the "first sign of difficulty" is it? we had these difficulties last season, and although I agree it improved for a spell, and that spell saved us..... we only managed to limp across the line come the end of the season with our problems on full view for all to see. These problems were not addressed pre-season.....some say we missed out on 5 players? some say we have no money and no players can come in to to we ship some out?? who knows. Statements from the club are as poor as the teams performance on the pitch. Millen is a clever guy you say, and knows what has to be done. I'm not so sure, as dont forget....he was Johnsons number 2 and that team ran out of ideas and were going backwards pretty quickly. I hope he gets it right, and soon. 4 points from the next two home games I feel is absolute minimum we should expect. Anything less.....and its time to pull the plug im afraid
Monkeh Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 played 7 won 1 drawn 2 lost 4 all that counts for 5 againts 11 Thats all that counts
Monkeh Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 That or we have lost 25 of the54 he has been in charge only winning 19 He has had his chance the club need a big shake up
Andy082005 Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 No you are wrong, it gives an indication as to our true status as a club, as they say, class is permanent form is temporary. .....how temporary is our form at the bit?
Fiale Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 Does not surprise me - we have reached playoff positions (or just outside) regularly for a long time (even in the championship) we are the almost av's, very unlucky in the final hurdle repeatedly many times.

Tables of this nature mean very little. Look at the all time table , Bristol Rovers are 53rd and are above (amongst others) - Watford , Swansea , Norwich , Cardiff , Crystal Palace , Luton , Southampton , Portsmouth , West Ham , Coventry , Charlton , Ipswich , Oxford & Wigan. All of those sides have played in the top flight , appeared in domestic cup finals and in some cases European competitions. Do you really believe Rovers have done enough in there history that they deserve to be ranked above those clubs??

Very good point well made and I know that every club in the country would like to be in the top flight of English Football. However, stats don't lie and to be ranked 6th in the country for the best win / loss ratio is pretty pleasing on the eye. We cant complain too much about the last decade of footy at the gate. Afterall, our hardcore of fans (including myself) will go and watch the team whatever league we are in. The current situation of course is a different subject altogether !
Drew Peacock Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 . However, stats don't lie and to be ranked 6th in the county for the best win / loss ratio is pretty pleasing on the eye. The county of Bristol? I would hope we would be first, not 6th.
Guest Red 'un' Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 LIES,DAMN LIES AND STATISTICS is a famous quote from whom ive forgotten
hippy273 Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 Doesn't suprise me, beating every team in league 1 but still suffering pain at the end of the season, BCFC style. Losing to league 2 teams now though aren't we. That's real pain.
