Guest CIDERARMY1986 Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 Now i know these post are getting old but what does everyone feel about a manager like Phill Brown i mean come on he got good knowledge of what this league is all about and he has got hull city out of this division. And i really feel that he could be a really a good manager for us im sure he would fire up the players and get rid of the drift wood so to speak what does every one think. And to be honest yh he cant do much worse then wot millen is doing.
Guest In.Millen.We.Trust Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 Totally Disagree, I see what he did with Hull fair enough thats respectful but what is he really going to bring to this football club he's another one of these Average Managers who will not take us very far if he happened to come in, He's at PNE are we really looking to get someone in like him if Millen does depart, No i dont think so.

Superjack Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 I'm a staunch 'Millen Out'er. But I tell you what my babber... if Phil Brown is the other option... Let's stick with KM... ...My god, I'm going to have to go for a lie down now I've said that...

havanatopia Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 I would much prefer Mr. Jones to Mr. Brown. I wonder if there is a pattern here though:- MILLEN - southerner COPOUT - southerner GARY J - southerner TINMAN - northerner WILSON - northerner FAWTHROP - northerner are we, therefore, due a northerner?
A Horse With No Name Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 or maybe three foreigners on the trot now.

Guest Tony Montana Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 Shoulda taken him last season if we wanted him, when he didnt have a club, same with Mowbray.
tinman-is-god Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 Shoulda taken him last season if we wanted him, when he didnt have a club, same with Mowbray. Phil Brown is a moron, and if Millen goes, he is not the man to take us forward. Mowbray would never have joined a side without the willingness to spend big and become an established Premier League side. There is no way he'd have joined, even if we has asked him.

Completely agree regarding Phil Brown. The most worrying thing for me is that if things don't pick up under KM and he ends up leaving, I can't think of a viable replacement. I wouldn't particularly want any of the names bandied about.
CodeRed Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 If you look at the League Managers Association website there's not a lot of quality in the "Available Managers" section: Can't list them all - some havn't worked for years, and some I don't think are really available as they're on Sky every night. So - those with Championship experience are: Blackwell Dowie Boothroyd Burley Billy Davies Dave Jones Roy Keane Brian Laws Roeder Mark Robins The usual big names are there - those waiting for a big club no doubt Keegan O'Neil Curbishley Hoddle Gianluca Viali Wilkins Zola Mark Hughes John Barnes Souness Strachan Avram Grant Ince Rudd Guilet etc plus the usual lower league journeymen eg Dave Penny! None of the big names would be interested IMO , so looking at the Championship managers it's hard to get away from the fact that - if we had to make a change - the shortlist would be Jones Davies and possibly Keane They're the only one's with any recent success in our league. Personally I don't think the time's right (bottom 3 / mid season) to approach a lower league club manager (eg Tisdale) so I'd go for experience with Jones as Davies would be too high maintainance & Keane probably wouldn't want to know unless he was given mega bucks to spend. CR

Riaz Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 The name that stands out for me is....... Mark Robins.
Andy082005 Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 The name that stands out for me is....... Mark Robins. I'm not so sure, would love someone a bit more proven if I'm honest. Did a good job at Barnsley no doubt, but wasn't there long enough for me. Billy Davies or to a lesser extent, Dave Jones for me

Guest In.Millen.We.Trust Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 Mark Robins what a joke.. What he bring to the club
Guest Tony Montana Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 It shows how much this club has slipped since Gary Johnson left. When GJ had gone we had all kinds of proven well known managers applying and looking interested in the job eg. Sven, Howe, Mowbray, O'Driscoll and Coppell Coppell was my favoured choice at the time. Now we are looking at the likes of Mark Robins and Dave Jones...............................
Riaz Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 wow mark robins REALLY!!! Mark Robins what a joke.. What he bring to the club Someone who has had success on a low budget and someone who has done well in the championship?!! Why would we want a manager who can organise teams pretty well??! Why would we want a manager who is in another league to millen?!
mookey Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 Failed Managers are a waste of time. Failure they carry with them like BO Either appoint a manager on the up (Gary Johnson) or one that has resigned. All these names banded around like Davies, Jones, Reid! Hart, Curbishley they are just rubbish in the wind Harsh, but thats how it is.

You Honestly think bringing Mark Robins to the club will see us move forward, I agree he did a half decent job at Barnsley and Rotherham, but nothing special, City would certainly not be moving in the right direction if they brought Mark Robins in.

I totally agree we would be moving backwards and not forwards i think we are all agreed that millen has to go but to bring in someone in the same sort of calliber as millen would only damage the club more then help the club so please not Mark Robins

Cornacix the Druid Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 We need someone with balls and contacts. And someone who aint affraid to be disliked!! (Balls for training, of course).

To date he has'nt failed, but you are writing him off?? its early in his career and the signs are good so far How do you he wont move us forward? Both jobs he's had, he has worked within a small budget and improved teams - thats exactly what we need. And sorry, but millen is not of the same calibre as Robins. Robins has a promotion to his name and did a very decent job at this level - which proves he is a better manager than keef. This is taken from wikipedia Robins was appointed as the new manager of Barnsley on 9 September 2009, succeeding Simon Davey. After his first game in charge, the Championship club sat at the bottom of the table looking likely candidates for relegation. By Christmas, Robins had taken them a full nine points clear of the relegation zone and on a run of eight games unbeaten. This was followed by a poor spell towards the end of the season, and Barnsley finished 18th in the table. Robins resigned from his job at the end of the 2010-11 season, because of differences with the board. So if he did take over - he would have been in this position before and suceeded

Riaz Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 Has he ? no your right - my memory's failing me - but he probabaly would have the season they had 17pts taken off - if they werent dis-advantaged.
Riaz Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 yh but that doesn't mean that he would do the same with our club does it really Someone who is proven when it comes to working with a small budget?! He's ideal for city. Anyway thats my shout - in the future he may prove to be not good enough. But he would be an improvement on our current "manager"
