Red Robin Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 Reading and listening to sexy it seems Blackpool is the last chance saloon for Millen. Rarely do we get much from the seasiders. Assume we loose it seems Millen will be gone. The three that come to mind and ready to rumble are Billy Davis Dave jones SOD Do you think it will be one of these, or could the unexpected happen, and we poach a manager? SL and Sexy have been in meetings today, obviously planning for the future, seems the two week break is a excellent time to sort this mess out.
Keith_Lemon Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 If it was any manager I think Dave Jones would be favourite.
Webzcas Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 Bring Johnson back just to see Robbored go a beetroot colour and steam coming out of his ears Failing that Dave Jones would be good.
Lita For Congo Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 Davies. I dont get the Dave Jones love-in?
Alex_BCFC Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 Rarely do we get much from the seasiders. Lost 1 of last 13 against them including 5 wins. I would say that is reasonable.
Pete1975Legend Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 I wouldn't argue with Davies coming in.
Guest Sampson City Reds Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 I think Homer Simpson would do a better job as manager than what Millen has done!!
'Orns Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 Has to be Davies. Horrible *****, but I thought the same about Johnson before he came. Get someone in who will sort these overpaid prima donnas out once and for all
Kibs Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 I wouldn't argue with Davies coming in. He would sort out the men from the boys that's for sure. Nobody would be guaranteed they're place, they'd have to earn it.
Mendip City Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 Sean O'Driscoll. 0 wins in last 19 games as Donny manager with a reasonable squad at this level. The brand of football his teams play isnt the sort that gets you out of the hole we're in. We dont have the luxury of picking a man to play nice football - we're in a battle and need to fight hard as a team. In better time he might not be my choice but I believe Billy Davies is the man for THIS situation. If not then Jones knows this level and has contacts a plenty.
BrizleCiderArmy Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 Jones. SoD is no better than a sideways step and Davies is a prat.
Roadrunner Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 I got a feeling it may include David James as assisent manager.
BCFC Jordan Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 0 wins in last 19 games as Donny manager with a reasonable squad at this level. His team has literally been devastated by injuries for months. When he had a full squad fit, Doncaster were a top half Championship side with probably the smallest budget in the league. Also plays good football.
Mendip City Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 I got a feeling it may include David James as assisent manager. I'll be the one running across the pitch with a burning season ticket!
tin Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 Davies. I dont get the Dave Jones love-in? Agree. Jones, who's still on Cardiff's payroll and squandered millions with Cardiff, is not what we need, nor could we afford him. Davies is more proven than Jones, but he'll probably be whinging about the lack of funds from day one if he were to be appointed. I'm intrigued by the Hoddle suggestion. IMO, something like that is needed to try and get the club completely overhauled from top to bottom, but the board would need to break the mould and demonstrate some vision for that to ever happen.
Esmond Million's Bung Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 Nicky Hunt Mr Gow I love you man.
Mendip City Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 e His team has literally been devastated by injuries for months. When he had a full squad fit, Doncaster were a top half Championship side with probably the smallest budget in the league. Also plays good football. I know and dont want to be argumentative just imo we don't need to worry about nice football (agree donny were brilliant at their best) right now - just winning football. Also I think SOD will need a break Donny got into a losing rut and he may bring that with him. He's a good manager - start of last season i'd have been delighted. Right now i would happily watch a niggly, nasty, hard working, hard as nails, dirty, physical, winning team!!!!
'Orns Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 ole gunnar solskjaer Someone will snap him up sooner or later, why not us? Intriguing suggestion
SC_Red Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 Someone will snap him up sooner or later, why not us? Intriguing suggestion I get bored of the same names all the time. He's young with a good reputation and connections in the game and is doing well in his 1st job. I'd rather we took a chance like that than went for davies or jones
Kibs Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 Keith Millen Nah. Conference manager at best. ;-)
the1stknowle Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 His team has literally been devastated by injuries for months. When he had a full squad fit, Doncaster were a top half Championship side with probably the smallest budget in the league. Also plays good football. This. To judge SoDs long and successful career on his last 20 games when just a tiny bit of research will tell you the problems seems unfair. The are the worst resourced team in the division, with the smallest squad and wage bill and attendances. Their natural position in this league is 24th. What SoD did there in the last couple of years is amazing and he would have pulled it round when half his squad came back from injury. It's not like they were getting drubbed every week. I'm still just about in the Millen camp but if he goes as is seeming increasingly likely, then I'd be fine with SoD, Tisdale, Jones, Davies or Curbs who are the 5 main names mentioned on this forum (not saying all would agree to come to us). If I had to choose, Id go tisdale as he just seems to have something extra but SoD teams definitely play lovely football and Im an SoD fan. That said, that ethos would take a while to instill and maybe we couldnt afford that kind of time given our current plight. But at least it would bring some fresh ideas into the club and some of our more technical players like Reid and Ribs might get a look in.
old_eastender Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 Dave Jones for me... Did a good job at Cardiff and contrary to what's ben said on here did not spend a fortune - in fact turned in a really good profit on several signings and used the loan system well...
chowie Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 ole gunnar solskjaer Good shout but think he is happy where he is and will remain there a little longer.
Dolman_Stand Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 Alan Curbishley Billy Davies George Burley Glenn Hoddle Sean O'Driscoll and if they could be tempted........... Mark Hughes Martin O'Neill Either way they board has to make the decision sooner rather than later on this one before the likes of Forest and Leicester start pulling the proverbial trigger and were left with the scraps
Forza Revolution Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 Keith Millen Nah, apparently he cant win home games, tactically inept, and isnt respected by the players Dave jones for me (think he took wolves up)

Good post - if you read both my posts hopefully it's clear i'm not knockingSOD but dont think his brand of football can be achieved quickly enough with this group of players. We just need 11 organised motivated grafting men out there now.
Guest We Are Us Not You Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 Carlos Tevez - Player Manager
JudgeRed Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 If Billy Davies is appointed manager i swear by my almight god i will never ever enter Ashton Gate or any home of Bristol City while he is manager ever again.
Dolman_Stand Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 Mark Robins Good shout, what happened for him to leave Barnsley?
RedRock Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 Thatcher - she'd get be good at getting rid of the over-paid, under-performing wasters. A few whacks around the head of those triers on the more modest wages as they get within range of the dug out will soon result in improved performances. If not, at least it'll improve the entertainment value of watching the dug out antics of our equivalent to John Major.
Phileas Fogg Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 ole gunnar solskjaer I like that idea! Interesting.. Out of Jones, SOD or Davies - Has to be Davies for me.
Mr Gow Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 Mr Gow I love you man. I just noticed you got there before me, oh well let the love overflow
Guest red and breakfast Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 Let's go balls out and tempt David Moyes. Ex-city player, going a bit stale at EFC and frustrated by a lack of investment up there. I would welcome him with open arms and would wager the NM would sign on the line within minutes of his appointment.
Mendip City Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 that bloke at MK Dons. ........ not pete winkleman
Mendip City Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 Just flicked over to ITV. Bad news: Martin O'Neill is not currently being interviewed for the pending City job. Good news: neither is Andy Townsend OR Adrian Chiles!!!!!! Not too sure news: neither is Southgate (probably good news)
Warwickshire Red Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 Martin O'Neill He'd be my clear choice too but doubt he'd be interested or we could afford him unless SL decides to re-open the purse strings to this extent which seems unlikely. After O'Neill, order of preference: 1. Jones 2. Davies 3. Lee Clark (Huddersfield) - a left field suggestion but 2 L1 playoff achievements, attacking football, win ratio 49%, unbeaten for nearly a year. Would probably want to bring some Newcastle old boys too eg Terry MacDermott (freshen things up for us) which could be problem for our board though - admit no Championship success so very unlikely to happen.

Guest Jambodave Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 Hello everyone firstly quick introduction Im Jambodave (obviously) and just registered with your forum. Only been following City for around 8/9 years now. Purely because I'm from up north and ran away. My 1st team as it were is Heart of Midlothian (Hearts - the Jambo comes from our nick name, the Jam Tarts). Its sad to see your current predicament. I would like to see our former manager Jim Jefferies at the club. He is brilliant at working within a budget and is all for the youths progressing into the first team. And he won us the cup that ended a 36 year trrophy drought. He did have a short spell with Bradford a few years ago now. And signed with Kilmarnock and done brilliantly there before come back to Hearts. And was just recently relieved of his duties by our very own mad russion owner, Romanaov. I just believe he could do a job for you. Any opinions Jim Jefferies
ciderup Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 I will get slaughtered for it but.... Ian Holloway. Billy Davies would kick our lot out of their slumber, not sure Jones would TBH.
Mendip City Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 I will get slaughtered for it but.... Ian Holloway. Billy Davies would kick our lot out of their slumber, not sure Jones would TBH. TOTALLY AGREE (with both)

Yeah, sack everyone, push the club from what should be a temporary crisis into fundamental ongoing decline. She's completely senile apparently. I suppose that would make watching the dug out more interesting.

He was rated a while ago....

simonwheeler Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 Holloway but no chance he would ever leave Blackpool so Dave Jones it has to be? NOT Billy Davies and certainly not Calamity James???? Cannot afford another short term cheap mistake?
Mr Mosquito Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 Dicks in. I'm pretty sure that's Alan Dicks celebrating with the Coventry City manager after fixing a draw at Highfield Road to keep us and Coventry up and send Sunderland down to ye olde Div 2.
Mendip City Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 they are all too busy being shown round properties in Clifton. You'll never believe who i saw filling up his tank at Sainsbury Winterstoke Road today......

Guest St. Aldhelms Red Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 How about Paul Ince? Served his apprenticeship in the lower leagues, deserved his shot at Blackburn but was given no time, has won everything as a player and would give the players a kick up the ass.

City Rocker Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 Martin O'Neill is not currently being interviewed for the pending City job. He absolutely was in Bristol this week though! Source: some bird I know who has no interest in Bristol City or in spreading rumours, but recognises Martin O'Neill when she sees him in a Bristol pub
Mendip City Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 I think our ex-midfield brain might be available soonish ... Call me a sicko but I would be happy with that
Red_Mat Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 Paul Tisdale. Let's start building now for life in League One. I won't renew my season ticket if we get Billy Davies in. A nasty little man who would more problems than it's worth.
