Guest harvey Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 I know it's early days and the man is stil in the job but... there seems to be rumours of joe returning to the club. what do you think of this if this turned out to be an option. would you agree and except he is more experienced and would do a good job... Joe jordan X 3 ???
The Casual Connoisseur Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 I ld love to see his passion and commitment but seriously why would he leave Spurs to come here, he's a great number 2 but would he be able to cut it as number 1, 3rd time lucky!?
marmite Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 I,d have him back in a flash. He'd be bouncing these players off the dressing room walls the way they cave in now under pressure. But I was also in favour of Copout so what do I know.
Pewsham Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 Joe Jordan mark 3? It'd be better than we currently have but I don't see City paying Tottenham a minor fortune in compensation. His first tenure here was fantastic and there was a genuine feel good factor around. His second spell wasn't so good, but I'd suggest he's learned at 'Arrys Academy and might well want a job nearer home. IF Joe fancies it, I'd be happy if he took the job on (not that there's a vacancy yet).

Joe jordan X 3 ??? As far as I am aware Joe still has his house in Abbotts Leigh. I was angry at the way he left us the first time, the Scotland national job was his ultimate goal when he went to Hearts. I was against his re-appointment and to me his heart was never in it the second time around. However I feel he has now done what all good managers should do and that is learn from the best, I can't believe I am saying this but I would be all for it, that said can't see it happening.

Esmond Million's Bung Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 Millen was a great number 2 and look where we are now Yeah for 2 years out of 6.
MattyAli Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 Would love to have him back......But just can't see it! I also think he would have learned a lot more now, Can't see Harry standing in his way either if Joe said I want it!!
The Casual Connoisseur Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 His passion is just what we need, no chance though. More likely to get Osman than Jordan.
Pickle Rick Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 Yea would love to see him come here then get slated and gradually hated, blamed at.....
Roger Red Hat Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 He'll be on the England coaching team next season with 'arry, why would he want to come back to our basket case of a club?
Isawjonshaw Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 1st time round JJ was a legend, something he never matched 2nd time around. So thats a NO from me.
red as fcuk Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 Millen was a great number 2 and look where we are now I think he works well with a 'bad cop' type manager Ie: Johnson or someone like warnock or Davies. He's the sort of bloke that will put an arm around a player. Unfortunately, what this club needs desperately, is someone to give the players an almighty punt in the ass, or dare I say, grenade! Far too many players and staff at this club are just cruising along in their comfort zones.
Pewsham Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 Never going to happen. Why would he leave Spurs for us? Surely Harry is going to be the next England manager and Joe will go with Harry there. Also why don't us fans ever learn, we need someone who's been there and done it at this level. Someone who has been in control of doing that. For goodness sake. P.s, who were the jokers on 5live last night asking for Peter Reid? Not me, I don't do Radio phone ins. He would be a better option though... did a reasonable job at Sun'lun and at a pre wealthy Man City

I wasn't one of the people requesting Peter Reid but surely he meets the criteria you set above as he turned Sunderland from almost relegated to Champions of this very division within the space of two years. That sounds like someone who has done it at this level
Pewsham Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 He did do a good job with Sunderland in about 1876. And you said it, a weathly Man City. Anyway, I've got this feeling that Millen won't even be sacked. I said a PRE wealthy Manchester City. He left Sun'lun in 2002 btw
Busterrimes Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 Incidentally Reids time at the Wearsiders coincided with their move from Roker to the Stadium of Light so I guess his budget was not huge. His eye for talent wasn't bad either, spotted Shay Given in Blackburn reserves and signed Kevin Phillips I believe. He would also have a good list of contacts too. Something KM was accused of not having.
Pewsham Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 So you did, but still not convinced, especially when you've got managers like Jones and Davies who have "recently" been VERY successful in this league. equally decent options. It's interesting when people point fingers at individual failures at different clubs - some Clubs and managers seem made for each other. Some combinations seem a very odd fit. All Managers at some point have failed somewhere at some time - that's just the nature of the beast. As I said previously - I'd support a Joe Jordan Mark 3. Billy Davis and Dave Jones are also good options. I'd love to see Glenn Hoddle at Ashton Gate, but just don't see it happening. As an "odd fit" what do people think of Kevin Keegan as an option?

From things I have read KK is just a motivator, he is not a coach or tactician. I believe Terry McDermott was the man who did most of the dirty work. KK would not be a good option because we need someone to manage as well as motivate. Our manager needs tactical awareness. I often used to read the Cardiff message board and they were forever moaning that Dave Jones wasn't tactically good enough. Interesting differing views.
bs3 Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 Joe Jordan is stiil based in Bristol so that would be a big plus of attracting him back to City. However at his time of life would he want to go back to being number 1. Would he want to come back to a team and club in crisis,it never worked out last time in the same situation. But his time a spurs may be coming to an end , its almost a shoe in that Harry will get the England job so where would that leave Joe? A proud Scot who played with distinction in three World Cups for his counrty, would he follow Redknapp and help coach the auld enemy. If Joe still had enough desire to have one last go at managment then City would be prefect for him and I for one would welcome back King Joe.

Chatting to one of his ex neighbours today, he sold The Warrens several years ago and it was knocked down about two years back. I don't think he owns any property in Bristol any more.

I don't think he owns any property in Bristol any more. He does, he's lived in Clifton for the last year or so next door to some people I know, and I've seen him in the front garden several times. He even invited them in for Christmas drinks last year. Put it this way, the reopening of Bridge Valley would give him a very easy run to AG.

Yes I hear there's quite a football manager enclave in Clifton now. As you say the easy access to AG probably explains it.
