BristolCity1992 Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 Thank god I put my money on the bottler.
Guest belfastrobin Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 Take note keef Shame on you for not resigning already
BristolCity1992 Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 Why should he resign? We gave him a three year contract and milk it for all he can get himself, he is unlikely to.get another manager job.
RedM Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 Has McClarens resignation been announced ? Several people have mentioned it, but i can't see anything on the net ?
Redcliffe 78 Posted October 2, 2011 Author Posted October 2, 2011 Has McClarens resignation been announced ? SSN.
Guest belfastrobin Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 Why should he resign? We gave him a three year contract and milk it for all he can get himself, he is unlikely to.get another manager job. Why should mcclaren resign then?? Because he knows its the right thing to do. If keef had any love for our club then he would do the decent thing instead of taking us back to league 1
havanatopia Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 And Doughty the Chairman. Interesting. p.s. McClaren takes no compensation or pay off.. simply walks away. And before anyone says Millen should do the same we should remember Mclaren has a far higher net worth and is able, therefore, to walk away with nout.
BristolCity1992 Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 Why should mcclaren resign then?? Because he knows its the right thing to do. If keef had any love for our club then he would do the decent thing instead of taking us back to league 1 Did I say he should. Along with the points the gentleman makes, would you say honestly you would resign from your job if you had a chance of a payout and a family to look after. He might well love the club, I love the company I work for too. I still would not walk away.
Fordy62 Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 p.s. McClaren takes no compensation or pay off.. simply walks away. Hmmm, I don't think that's quite true. The three hour meeting he had with the chairman suggests otherwise.
Maltshoveller Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 I won't have Sky - not on the online SSN that I could see. So the best managers will be beating a door to Nottingham not Bristol then (when/if Keef gets the elbow). NO they wont The BEST managers already have jobs
eskay Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 McClaren is worth millions. Would you walk away from a job if you don't have to - with nothing else lined up ? Thought not. McClaren has done a Copell. That will take the better managers out of the mix for us (if KM is giving his marching orders). I have a feeling there will be a press conference tomorrow morning (and I still think Dave Jones will be taking charge before the end of the week).
Guest ashtonphil Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 But if Millen is sacked - Would you have McClaren down here???? YES PLEASE..why?? Because he is a good manager and Forest have a very strange set up re money and transfers
Red_Jim Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 I'm gutted- that means if Millen goes then we'll be everyone's second choice now. Bet Forest get Dave Jones while we drag our feet too.
petehinton Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 false promises given to him by the chairman, blocked two prem players being brought in on loan because of their wages, interesting!! Millen next please
kevster3 Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 According to BBC both Maclaren and the chairman have resigned.More honour there than here
havanatopia Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 Hmmm, I don't think that's quite true. The three hour meeting he had with the chairman suggests otherwise. well, only going what has been announced on 5 live.. if you are party to small talk in a board room fair enough.
nickolas Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 I hope mclaren can fax a copy of his letter to keith. Change the date n addressee keith n f@&k off out of our club. Please take the whole backroom charlies wiv u too.
Barrs Court Red Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 I doubt he would come here. Just had his fingers burnt by one lot of broken promis, will hardly want to come here after the rumours about broken promises to coppell
Fordy62 Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 I think Forest are in some big trouble with their chairman going too.
Riaz Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 I doubt he would come here. Just had his fingers burnt by one lot of broken promis, will hardly want to come here after the rumours about broken promises to coppell Not another poor manager with poor excuses! He knew what he was getting himself into after seeing what happened to Billy Davies
exAtyeoMax Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 I think Forest are in some big trouble with their chairman going too. Exactly. Sounds a lot worse than here.
Barrs Court Red Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 Not another poor manager with poor excuses! He knew what he was getting himself into after seeing what happened to Billy Davies If he's poor explain Twente and Middlesbrough?
The Casual Connoisseur Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 Exactly. Sounds a lot worse than here. We are bottom and still have our manager who got us into this situation, we are most defo in a worse position!
Maltshoveller Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 I won't have Sky - not on the online SSN that I could see. So the best managers will be beating a door to Nottingham not Bristol then (when/if Keef gets the elbow). [/quo
Pickle Rick Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 According to BBC both Maclaren and the chairman have resigned.More honour there than here Honour? You must be kidding. It is no honour for a football club to lose both the manager & chairman. I think it's quite unfortunate for a club to get to that stage where both want to leave the club.
exAtyeoMax Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 We are bottom and still have our manager who got us into this situation, we are most defo in a worse position! I don't think so. The set up there sounds a lot more dodgy than here. Tomorrow we will hopefully get a new manager, they have no manager or chairman
Guest MC Risk Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 a man with dignity!!! fed up of hearing all the bollox that millen is a nice guy, unless you know him personally you cant comment, my opinion is he is a ***** and taking us down, cudnt care less how long he has been with us, i dont know him so cant comment that he is a nice bloke.......all the people on here saying millen is a nice bloke must all know him personally
Riaz Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 If he's poor explain Twente and Middlesbrough? Twente fair enough even though the Dutch league ain't that competitive. But I don't have a great knowledge of Dutch football to be fair. At boro he did okay, but spent loads. With England he had players like Rooney gerrard etc etc and couldn't build a decent side. Living off being fergies assistant...
rockin-robin Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 I don't think so. The set up there sounds a lot more dodgy than here. Tomorrow we will hopefully get a new manager, they have no manager or chairman Isn't their chairman their owner though? I might be wrong?
Jon atyeo is my dad Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 I'd have mclaren! I think this next choice of manager needs to be a reality check for everyone and what the boards intensions are! If we appoint jones or mclaren were building a team which will be challenging top 6 every season (hopefully), if we appoint Billy Davies were going all guns blazing for promotion to hell with the consequences. Finally if we appoint Sean Od then were looking at potential relegation but looking to come back with a great style of football of which the board will be running a very tight budget! I just hope who ever it is we can all just shut the fudge up and finally unite as football FANS! Not football jeerers !
havanatopia Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 Let us hope whomever is being lined up for us will not have second thoughts and go talk to Florist.
Dynamite Red Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 I would take McClaren in an instant. He would completely reshape the club from top to bottom if given time and the backing.
The Casual Connoisseur Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 Our situation is worse, we don't know who's running the club and the chances are our new manager will be a cheap option who will be just as bad. Pretty sure that an attractive club with a huge fan base, decent stadium and rich history will be ok, us on the other hand......? Anyone's guess.
Riaz Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 I would take McClaren in an instant. He would completely reshape the club from top to bottom if given time and the backing. What makes you think he would do that??!
Dolman_Stand Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 If he's poor explain Twente and Middlesbrough? If he's not explain England, Wolfsburg and Forest. Steve Gibson was the driving force behind Boro's success as for Twente, I believe they were well on the way to success prior to his arrival
Keith_Lemon Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 You know City fans have been on the natch too much when they want McLaren in as Manager......
exAtyeoMax Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 Isn't their chairman their owner though? I might be wrong? Yes similar to SL
Fordy62 Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 Like SL yes, but worth about a tenth of SL. I think he'll be looking to sell up.
Dynamite Red Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 What makes you think he would do that??! He did a excellent job at Twente and was offered the Ajax job so he is no mug. At Boro, yes he spent a wedge but he also blooded a lot of youth and built a good side that won a league cup and got to a UEFA cup final. He is a very good coach who could reshape our team, coaching setup and academy. Will it happen... No, it would cost to much.
Pete1975Legend Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 You know City fans have been on the natch too much when they want McLaren in as Manager...... Good coach broke the 20 year domination with unfashionable twente in Holland. He would do a job here no doubt.
Fordy62 Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 Billy Davis is the only option for me. The same Forest back line who are currently shipping goals for fun were pretty tight under him.
Guest belfastrobin Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 McClaren is worth millions. Would you walk away from a job if you don't have to - with nothing else lined up ? Thought not. Yes i would
Fordy62 Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 Billy Davis is the only option for me. The same Forest back line who are currently shipping goals for fun were pretty tight under him.
Mendip City Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 I would take McClaren in an instant. He would completely reshape the club from top to bottom if given time and the backing. Agree. This is an oportunity way, way too good to miss.
Redhyde Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 I heard a stat on the radio today that 50% of first time managers never get a second job once fired. 17% of statistics are made up etc, but, it kinda rings true. Who the hell would employ a Millen after he fails with time and money in his first role. I just am in pure despair with Millen, i'm not being logical, anyone anyone would be better and give me hope at the minute.
Atticus Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 McClaren is worth millions. Would you walk away from a job if you don't have to - with nothing else lined up ? Thought not. Shows how much of a **** Millen is tbf. Rather continue in the job as Bristol City manager, despite being shite at it, then resign because he would lose money. Not the type of person I want managing the club Honour? You must be kidding. It is no honour for a football club to lose both the manager & chairman. I think it's quite unfortunate for a club to get to that stage where both want to leave the club. Really?? So there is more honour continuing in both roles when the heart & money isnt in it etc? No, didnt think so. Ummmm, winning the league with Twente was a MAGNIFICENT achievement, at the time Jol was manager of Ajax with the likes of Suarez etc. Werent Steve Gibson the charmain when the like of Robson was in charge? Ya he was, and isnt Gibson in control now? Ya he is, Mclaren just bought well, and deserved all the credit he got for what he done there. As for England, yea he was bad.
westonred Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 Remember when City played Forest the other season and Gerken was knocked unconcious in a collision with Tyson, Well Billy Davis was laughing about it and turned around blowing kisses to angry City fans in The Williams i dont want that guy anywhere near Ashton Gate if thats the sort of person he is
Pete1975Legend Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 Remember when City played Forest the other season and Gerken was knocked unconcious in a collision with Tyson, Well Billy Davis was laughing about it and turned around blowing kisses to angry City fans in The Williams i dont want that guy anywhere near Ashton Gate if thats the sort of person he is That's called banter! Something us fans give out all the time. He'd be a good manager I think.
westonred Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 That's called banter! Something us fans give out all the time. He'd be a good manager I think. It was the laughing at a fellow proffesional lieing unconcious i was more concerned about
Riaz Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 Honestly some of you lot make I larf! England manager, won many honours as manager, used to dealing with world class players throughout most of his managerial career. And not good enough for Bristol City, the club with no meaningful honours to their name, a shite ground,an egotistical chairman (4 million for maynard today? - bet we take it now) and absolutely no Premier League quality in our squad, save maybe Adomah,Maynard and Pitman (with the right development opportunities but only 40/60 then). We should crawl over broken glass for a manager with his pedigree to even give a second thought about managing City. Get over yourselves some of you. It amazes me that some people can't see past the fact he was manager of england. Forget the england job, what "honours" has he achieved other than what he did at twente??!
GrahamC Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 It amazes me that some people can't see past the fact he was manager of england. Forget the england job, what "honours" has he achieved other than what he did at twente??! He got Boro' ( a club similar in size to ourselves) to a European final but why let facts get in the way of ill informed opinion? What exactly does apart from winning the Dutch league mean, anyway? That's like saying apart from winning the Cup Final what has Redknapp done..........
Frank Reynolds Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 Shows how much of a **** Millen is tbf. Rather continue in the job as Bristol City manager, despite being shite at it, then resign because he would lose money. Not the type of person I want managing the club I would say that the opposite is true for me. I wouldn't want a family man who played at a time when players at that level didn't anywhere near what they do now, to be quitting his job without having something else lined up. Do you want a man in charge who displays selfishness, recklessness and enough stupidity to put his family at risk with no income? We gave him the three year contract and so he's entitled to stick it out. I'd also imagine he has the confidence in himself to turn it around. The problem is, who shares it?
Riaz Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 He got Boro' ( a club similar in size to ourselves) to a European final but why let facts get in the way of ill informed opinion? What exactly does apart from winning the Dutch league mean, anyway? That's like saying apart from winning the Cup Final what has Redknapp done.......... He got boro to a eurpean final - but inherited a very good team and spent loads - and lets be fair, that was the Uefa Cup. He did okay at boro - his best job was at Twente. But has failed miserably for England, Wolfsburg & Forest. 1 successful spell, 1 average and 3 failures - thats enough to tell me to stay away.

shepton red Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 Well said that man! At last some expectation management being applied, get him here now!!!!!!!!
Riaz Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 At last some expectation management being applied, get him here now!!!!!!!! Expectation management? No, I just hope the board see past his "big name" I'd like us to get Mark Robins - hardly unrealistic would'nt you say?
