Lots of talk of who the new manager (IF) millen is sacked....well what about whose going to be caretaker manager?

If this caretaker does well, surely the board will be tempted (I personally would never be tempted but this is directors we are talking about!)

My money is on Walsh or Wigley (obvious choice i guess!) although realistically if millen goes wigley has to go too....just worried tht the board is worried about the cost of the shambles!

Carey backed by James and Walsh if it were to happen

Louis Carey has been an (alleged) troublemaker in the dressing room for years.

I would rather pick a random person off the street than have him manager of my football club.

Given that you seem to be one of the most staunch Millen backers, I am starting to wonder if you are just a WUM.

:gasmask: ??

Yep I am aware of this possibility but as he is part of the old boys club he will be here for a few more years yet and he is someone who the club will turn to when we need to because of his connections with the club. Agreeing with that decision would be very difficult. Club needs a clear out from top to bottom. I'm not a Millen fan i'm a Bristol City fan. My position is I am not convinced as of yet getting rid of Millen so early in the season is the correct thing to do.

disscusions have been taking place all day between the board/keith millen and david james.an announcment is now due tomorrow with david james taking over as caretaker manager. the board now want to take there time in making an permanent appointment to make sure the right man is chosen for the job and in david james the board feel they have a safe pair of hands in charge in the short term.

I had to smile at the thought of James providing a "safe pair of hands" - that would be a first for this season!

David James can't manage the 4 men in front of him let alone the team Lmfao joke

Hmmm, totally unsubstantiated allegations against someone who has been a great servant to this club over the years and is actually a passionate fan of.:no:

However, I'd not make him caretaker. If we had that role it could only be Wiggley IMO.

Hopefully, if the board have the guts to act, we'll have a smooth transition of power with a new manager announced at the same time as learn that Keith has left "by mutual consent".

The first choice always has to be the assistant manager. Wigley has performed that role for, I believe, two Premier League clubs. Not a great assistant manager, not a great potential manager but surely a decent caretaker manager while the new man comes on board.

I take your point and I'm sure its a valid one. However I would hope that the inactivity by the board since last Tuesday's game has simply been for them to get the wheels in motion behind the scenes and have the new guy lined up - so that there will not be a need for any caretaker role.

One thing that could have perhaps thrown a spanner in the works is MacLaren resigning at Forest. Think it would be safe to assume that Dave Jones will also be

linked with that post (although personally I reckon they could do worse than appoint O'Neil).

In my opinion caretaker managers never work long term. They always seem to do great for 5-6 games, get appointed full time and are then subsequently crap.

With the 2 week break it would surely be better to have a 'full time' manager ready to hit the ground running - rather than waste part of the time flaffing around.

Doubt it will take that long for the new manager to be in place. They normally make very quick (often too quick) decisions in this respect.
